  • My wife fed her original lyric into Suno and it produced something remarkable. Not only is the track catchy, but smart choices were made based specifically on the lyrical content it was provided. In this video, I break down those decisions, and explain specifically what makes them smart.
Don't be so triggered by my use of human terms. It'll be okay. Check it out, and enjoy.

Uploading a piece that is self-composed to Udio is an eye-opener! To hear something you've composed transformed into something completely different, but totally professional, well mixed, is a great way to use the tool known as AI.

I think you nailed it with 'it is mimicking good decisions', are these things fed the chart and sales data too, I'm wondering if it's not spotting some pretty deeply hidden patterns between the musical analysis and the metrics of popularity, which could lead it to some successful conclusions. Great writers also mimic or are influenced by those that go before them, when folks try to mimic and get it wrong, it sounds contrived. Great video, and thank you for highlighting this, its a fascinating development!

I'll go further, not only it makes musical decisions but it has fun doing so, and it's glad when it gets a cool prompt to play with.

@@acecatman it’s kind of fresh that it likes cool prompts too. Humans hate prompts.

The horn sections got me thinking about Richard Niles' new book on arrangement, and how he'd added all the brass elements to Swing Out Sister's hit 'Breakout'.
They weren't originally part of the band's arrangement, and I can't imagine it without them; so if AI is learning what's catchy, and just going for it, that's fascinating to me.

You can use brackets to direct the AI . For example [ intro] [ verse] [ chorus] [ guitar solo] [ crescendo]

In the first few moments of listening I thought if this is treated as a demo a really good record cold be made of it so I hope you do go ahead and realize a finished track 'cos you'd likely have A HIT! :)

It's totally a demo, but I would implement many if not most of the musical decisions (especially in regards to the horns), and merely fix where I think it misses. Not unlike what I have to do for humans that I produce.

We have 'session musicians' in Logic, Mixerman. So we're on the way. Generative prompts are in Photoshop already too. Cool take on the topic. 👍

@@BrockBarr yeah, but I avoid using samples like the plague. I’m looking forward to generative AI replacing MIDI options.
There are some sample libraries that are amazing, but they can be really tedious to use and program.

Subscribed, liked & commented! It wouldn't be UA-cam unless those words were spoken at some point! LOL. I was watching Tony Black's channel and he was discussing a video by Rick Beato and fantasizing about future times when people are complaining that it's not like "the old days". The old days will be typified by "Like Subscribe Comment" when the new thing is, idk "have your AI bookmark this" or something like that but in real futuristic lingo.
