Jenson was my favorite F1 driver for most of his 17 year career. He was virtually always in a 2nd rate car, I think because he was too loyal to the teams that took him in. Jenson was always a perfect sportsman and charming person yet was competitive enough to have won a championship in 2009. And his insights over the years as a comentator have always been worth listening to. His insights here, and his boyishm enthusiasm, are well worth watching.
Well, for 2025 Red Bull is the household favourite, but 2026 is a complete lottery. Theoretically even Audi could suddenly be the fastest car at the beginning in case they found some loophole in the new rulebook
More championships than them too put together, more than the whole grid combined & if the one in 2021 wasn't stolen more than anyone in the history of the sport, if anyone can do it Lewis definitely can.

Hamilton has just announced that he's now the number two driver at Mercedes. Any team calls for position will go to Russell on the grounds of increasing his morale and confidence going into 2025. Any upgrades will be made with Russells style of driving in mind. At Ferrari it'll be interesting to see how Hamilton manages with a car designed for Leclerc, and how he deals with Leclerc himself. Two number ones never ends well! (See Hamilton/Rosberg, Senna/Prost, Piquet/Mansell)
I see your point, but the design wont be changing for this seasons car based on this, they simply dont understand it enough to have multiple options. and as for the rule change, hamilton wont care. on track, I dont see how anything can be changed.
I think he was losing faith in Merc and started looking around for seats available. Yes they did inquire at RedBull amd when it became apparent that there was no seat there, they pivoted to Ferrari who hadnt locked Carlos and figured Lewis brings more brand value. But it will be interesting seeing how he fits in a totally different culture and going to a team where Charles is their man. Funny though the tone is now changing from clowing Ferrari to oh great team, dream move. Oh media
Even Hamilton himself said he would never drive for Ferrari back in 2022, that Mercedes was his family and he would always be a Mercedes driver... Funny how things changed when they refused to give him the hundreds of millions he wanted.😂
Lewis Hamilton wants to be the GOAT. His current team can't get him that and his rival keeps scoring. Before his adrenaline runs dry with age, he wants a team that can get him that 1 win to make it all count.
@@brouwah It is not a silly statement. Horner & Marco have been trying to get Lando for that second RB seat for years, but Lando’s been dodging it because he’s afraid of having to go up against Max in the same machinery.
Yes, reluctantly agree. Being a Williams fan Albon is the only ray of hope at the moment (Obviously we have James Vowles, Pat Fry etc.) It would be very sad to lose two such fantastic talents to Mercedes, in such a short space of time
Except for the fact that its no surprise that Lewis moving will be headline news, its must be mentioned how much of an impact Drive to Survive has on F1 just by seeing the timing of Hamiltons exit from Mercedes
You need to analyse that statement one more time. Do you really think Lewis Hamilton bases he's career choices to satisfy the need for some "wow, drama" moment in a Hollywood production? 😂

Nah, Hamilton said in 2022 that he would never drive for Ferrari, that he was loyal to Mercedes and would always be a Mercedes driver. But once they refused to give him the hundreds of millions he wanted the narrative changed and he jumped ship...😂
This move has won Lewis some serious respect (not that he needed it). Ballsy move, very ballsy because he could easily fall flat on his face. There are a lot of pitfalls but If it pays off it takes him to an even higher level, if that's even possible.
I’m going to be watching from a distance because F1 passed on a team that would be bringing another engine manufacturer, and has more ability to be competitive than the bottom 2 teams combined. It’s bs to deny the Andrettis the opportunity to help advance the sport. They wrote me off in that decision, so I’ll watch the Lewis situation from afar. I hope he does well.
It’s gonna be very interesting. Charles with his long term approach and fresh talent and the old kid with all his refined experience (not to forget the whining part) on the other side. I wouldn’t be surprised if Leclerc demolishes that kid.
After we saw that pic of Hamilton trying the W15, many people analysed his body language to say that he doesn't look impressed or confident in it. When he had a fast car, he was always smiling and joking around but now he looks way more unimpressed by Mercedes. I think he has come to the conclusion that Mercedes is not making a fast enough car for him anymore which is why he is leaving but also what they said about everyone wanting to drive a Ferrari.
Lewis moving to Ferrari just proves my view that the driver has very little impact (i.e. less than 10%) on whether a team makes it to the podium. The unsung heroes, in my view are the engineers, mechanics, factory workers, etc. that design, build and keep the cars on the track and competitive.
@@horsepower523 No, there have been luckier F1 champions in the past. I'd say Kimi was the luckiest, he was always known for being lazy when it came to working with the team and developing the car and even Briatore once said no team would ever win with Kimi due to his laziness, but in 2007 his two main rivals screwed each other and handed him the championship by just 1 point. 😂
I hope Alonso will get the Merc seat and both Ferrari and Merc step up the game starting this 2024 so that 2025 will be hugely interesting where you have top 3-4 drivers in top 3 teams fighting closely.
It comes down to this: Lewis is pissed, because he hasn't won a race in two years; and he doesn't see anything at Mercedes that convinces him things will change before the end of 2024. In short, he's having a temper tantrum; and he's taking his ball and going where he feels happy. Hamilton believes that Ferrari will give him a competitive car, but the truth is that he isn't capable of being competitive in less than the best car. Wherever Sainz ends up, his career will move forward! If Mercedes doesn't give Mick the vacant seat for 2025, then they are the problem! Mick is the future!
How are none of these interviews about how insanely dirty Ferrari did Sainz after him being the only one beating Red Bull in 2023? How can they expect Sainz to do his best for a whole year at a team who screwed him over big time.
He didn't see anything in Mercedes. He was *told* that they had already developed a hybrid power unit and, with the new regulations, will have an advantage over the competition. Hamilton said, just a year and a half ago, that he would never drive for Ferrari. Maybe they have a surprise under their sleeve for 2026...
That escalated quickly. It's absolutely incredible, seriously blown away. Thought it was never gonna happen. Having a driver of Hamilton's calibre is definitely a good thing for Ferrari. Yesss! Let's gooo!!! 👏🙌🤩 Shame for Carlos. He didn't deserve it. Good luck to him in this new adventure ❤
To be fair, I don’t think many drivers could have displaced Carlos. But this is a seven time champion, one of the greatest drivers of all time. There’s not a team on the grid that would turn him down, and many would happily boot their lead driver for him.
In my opinion and for many reasons Lewis made the right call, its a shocker though i did not see this one coming, truly hope Lewis gets a 8’th and a 9’th world championship
Exactly. Mercedes didnt offer Lewis an ambassador role. You have to realise that with Lewis you go down a certain "diversity" road which could obviously damage your company very badly. Pretty complicated.
Ferrari lost Michael with 7 championships. They now have Lewis with 7. Who knows, if he gets his 8th with Ferrari then that will be a mega stuff for Ferrari and Lewis and a blow to Mercedes and a slap on the face of the Red Bull team.
luis is in retirement mode..... money and a pretegious team. hopefully this opens up a seat for fernando alonso at mercedes. it would be amazing to see fernando in a real competitive car. mercedes or red bull?
Lewis actually did it proper by announcing it a year early. If he hadn’t, this entire season, every race the entire dialogue would be “where is Lewis going next year”. And we’d be wasting the entire season contemplating instead of enjoying his last drive at Mercedes.
Unlike Alonso, Hamilton is looking to retire…he started with McLaren and won with them. Then stuck around even when they started losing and going backwards. Moved to Mercedes when many called him a ‘Judas’ and said he would never win a race again let alone a world title, (that aged well) and now under the same circumstances he’s moving to Ferrari - Mercedes still great but No2 at best the last few years. The big rule changes in 2026 will show whether he made the right move (assuming Ferrari return to winning ways)….but as Button and many ex F1 drivers have said, everyone, if not most, want to race with Ferrari. As for George’s team mate - gotta be Albon for me. Him and George, going up against the McLaren pair would be excellent.
Hamilton always wins in this scenario. This season if Hamilton is worse than Russell it will be Mercedes' "fault", if he is better then is team mate then Mercedes is in the losing side and in 2025, if Hamilton can't win, it will always be Ferrari's fault... if he wins, then he is a God and Ferrari doing what it does best... horrible strategies.
I think its great that Lewis has let Mercedes know a year early. Gives them plenty of time to sort a replacement. Id like to think he still has a few Silver Arrows wins in him before he goes.
I disagree with JB Ferrari needs Lewis his feedback and is still a fearless driver and he is a workaholic and works until let night with engineers all the drivers said that
If Ferrari asks for you, you answer. Before Lewis joined Mercedes, Twitter exploded with McLaren fans saying that Lewis would fail, that it would be the end of his career and that he just ended his career. Every legend would take the opportunity to drive for the greatest F1 team in history. Schumi, Lauda, Alonso, Seb, Ascari, Villeneuve, Prost, Raïkkönen and others. Who wouldn't want his name amongst these all time greats, especially if you yourself are statistically the most succesfull driver in F1 history. Over the years, he implied multiple times that he wanted to be a part of the Ferrari legacy and he has a great relationship with Vasseur. For Ferrari this is a huge + in merchandise, media attention and legacy.
This is exactly what He needs to do, to prove He is the GOAT. I don't think He will ever forgive Himself for not winning the title with Ferrari, given the opportunity. Brave call and I wish Him the best.

Man I don't know Alonso and Seb both failed at Ferrari I don't think Lewis will makes it different 😞
Lewis is better driver than both
Well, for 2025 Red Bull is the household favourite, but 2026 is a complete lottery. Theoretically even Audi could suddenly be the fastest car at the beginning in case they found some loophole in the new rulebook
I agree. Lewis knew in 22 that there would be no more titles. This is hope and see and the worst that happens is Lewis's bank account grows.
yep
More championships than them too put together, more than the whole grid combined & if the one in 2021 wasn't stolen more than anyone in the history of the sport, if anyone can do it Lewis definitely can.
Hope several drivers will have a shot at a race win in the next couple of years, but still think the Newey/Max/RB partnership will be virtually unbeatable, until the new engines come on stream .
And that's enough reason to move to the Bank of Ferrari $$$$$
Imagine the feeling if Alonso got the Merc drive and beats Lewis in 2025.
Lewis got seven how many alonso got
How does Jenson look so young ???
Great bloke !
Imagine the conversations with the pit wall.
-Everybody is switching to inters, should I box?
-Stay out, stay out.
-Man it's raining more and more. Was this the right call?
-Rain will stop, stay out.
-Hey, we are last now. Car is undrivable.
-Box for inters.
Would love to see vettel surprise everyone in Merc overalls.
My heart would stop if I saw Darth Vettel become reality.
Nah, he said he didn't quit F1 to come back a year later.
Won't this make it awkward in the Mercedes team this year..? The F1 W15 will probably be underway soon, and they can't really include Lewis?
Maybe that's what he wants. He's not going to be in F1 for much longer so it makes sense to let Russell to be the front man at Merc
Looks like George will be the #1 driver at Mercedes with first chance at updates for a season He better make the most of it!😊
Not with Alonso 😅
I'm so excited for Lewis! This has been a dream for him as far back when his father was his manager. I can't wait for 2025!
That Brawn model in the background!!!
Could Leclerc join Mercedes? If I were him, I'd be so fed up with Ferrari, I'd seriously consider a move
And Mercedes have been trying to get him signed for some time. So who knows what will happen when his control with Ferrari ends... 🤷♂️
Nico Rosberg typing.............
Got to love JB, such a pleasure hearing him speak
Is this happy movement for Ferrari in last 15 years,I hope they will win a championship
Lewis Hamilton wants to be the GOAT. His current team can't get him that and his rival keeps scoring. Before his adrenaline runs dry with age, he wants a team that can get him that 1 win to make it all count.
If I was toto I would phase him out and give all the upgrades to Russel.
As if he does not already 🙄
And this is why Lando will never be a WC. The truly greats are never afraid of a challenge.
This.
What a silly statement 😄
@@brouwah It is not a silly statement. Horner & Marco have been trying to get Lando for that second RB seat for years, but Lando’s been dodging it because he’s afraid of having to go up against Max in the same machinery.
💯
Lando is waiting for McLaren to finally give him a good car.
If Mercedes can get back to fighting for wins, I'd like to see Albon partner George.
Yes, reluctantly agree. Being a Williams fan Albon is the only ray of hope at the moment (Obviously we have James Vowles, Pat Fry etc.) It would be very sad to lose two such fantastic talents to Mercedes, in such a short space of time
IF
It’s going to be Alonso, Toto won’t like managing two younger drivers. The real surprise would be Mick in that car.
Except for the fact that its no surprise that Lewis moving will be headline news, its must be mentioned how much of an impact Drive to Survive has on F1 just by seeing the timing of Hamiltons exit from Mercedes
How is dts involved?
You need to analyse that statement one more time. Do you really think Lewis Hamilton bases he's career choices to satisfy the need for some "wow, drama" moment in a Hollywood production? 😂
@@LucasLarsson-ed9fn no, but he timed it so that DTS would not be able to cover it in their upcoming release set for end of February. Read my comment again.....
@@LucasLarsson-ed9fn He does love drama and being the center of attention, so it's not far fetched...😂
Just a year and a half ago he said he would never drive for Ferrari because he was loyal to Mercedes and here we are...
I think Lewis just wants more pasta on the hospitality menu 🙂
I think all drivers want a chance to drive the red car eventually. Bucket list item for Lewis I'm sure, and what a shake up for F1 fans to watch. For Merc fans that arn't sure who to support going forward, follow both! I'm a McLaren fan but I'm invested in the stories of all the teams. What a fantastic sport!
I agree 100%. I used to hate on LH but after this crazy bold move he gets all my respect and maybe I'm gonna be a fan of him in 2025.
Wondering why all the commentators are so surprised by this move. I've heard many times these same people speculating about this move.
Lewis hamilton in "The Transfer 2: Electric Boogaloo"
Analysis say "its even braver than last time" 😅
Ha,ha terrible sequel that film😂😂
Nobody talks how disrespectful to Sainz this thing is.
What does that tell about the W15???
After we saw that pic of Hamilton trying the W15, many people analysed his body language to say that he doesn't look impressed or confident in it. When he had a fast car, he was always smiling and joking around but now he looks way more unimpressed by Mercedes. I think he has come to the conclusion that Mercedes is not making a fast enough car for him anymore which is why he is leaving but also what they said about everyone wanting to drive a Ferrari.
@@Channelisgone1ferrari is a dream move for any racer
@@saqib7965at the end of your career $$$$$$$$
Lewis moving to Ferrari just proves my view that the driver has very little impact (i.e. less than 10%) on whether a team makes it to the podium. The unsung heroes, in my view are the engineers, mechanics, factory workers, etc. that design, build and keep the cars on the track and competitive.
Jenson, up there with Stirling as one of the very Best.
What? Button just lucked into that one WDC with Brawn thanks to double diffuser. He's the luckiest F1 champion of all time. Nothing more.
No. Max was luckiest WDC of all time in 2021😂
@@horsepower523 No, there have been luckier F1 champions in the past.
How many times will he stop in the Mercedes pit next season? :)
How does this dude look so young for years
Money helps
How are none of these interviews about how insanely dirty Ferrari did Sainz after him being the only one beating Red Bull in 2023? How can they expect Sainz to do his best for a whole year at a team who screwed him over big time.
As someone mentioned in another thread, Toto's therapy bill is gonna go through the roof LOL. Go RedBull!!!
I know the one person who doesn't give a hoot about all this fuss 😅
Raikkonen sure doesn't...
I meant Max but sure Kimi doesn't either@@Yiannis2112
it does give the team [MB} time to react and sign maybe.. Sainz? meanwhile have LH for Leclerc could be a great mentorship as well
What do we care what Coldplay think?
omg I lost it looooooool
Ahhhhh 🤣
Lewis has seen something in Farrari. Like what he saw in Mercedes when he was at McLaren.
@deerlord2363 let's see. Whatever happens, it will interesting.
2025* chill
To be fair, I don’t think many drivers could have displaced Carlos. But this is a seven time champion, one of the greatest drivers of all time. There’s not a team on the grid that would turn him down, and many would happily boot their lead driver for him.
The Audi adventure
The surprise for me was how early it was announced! Good views from Jenson.
They had to divert attention from the angry fans about them rejecting Andretti and Cadillac 😂
In my opinion and for many reasons Lewis made the right call, its a shocker though i did not see this one coming, truly hope Lewis gets a 8’th and a 9’th world championship
Top guy Jenson is. Always.
As I once said not long ago, Lewis is also looking to his future outside of the sport and Ferrari would fit nicely with his own branding interests
Good call!
@@CosmicSeeker69 Cheers Graham
Lando fuming after re-signing for McLaren
It was also said he talked about finishing his career in 25 so he probably taking the biggest pay cheque for last year.
Ferrari's statement mentions a multi-year contract, so I don't think 2025 is his last just yet. I did thnk the same thing as you, until I saw that!
@@lcustance1827 multi year contracts mean nothing
@paidninja1413 probably just two years. The guys going to be 41 then

It's a PR move, obviously. But everyone wants a Ferrari ride at least once in their career.
Stunning and Brave stunning and brave 🌈
Brave and stunning! Stunning the braveness of how brave his stunningness is!
Lewis actually did it proper by announcing it a year early. If he hadn’t, this entire season, every race the entire dialogue would be “where is Lewis going next year”. And we’d be wasting the entire season contemplating instead of enjoying his last drive at Mercedes.
Button good Point that Leclerc speaks Italian but NOT Lewis
👍
LOL at 2:22 Alonso the guy just doesn't go away. 🤣
Wouldn’t Red Bull be the biggest rival,I mean I guess biggest rival in the fact that they have more history.
They certainly don't have more history, they are one of the newest teams for goodness sake.
@@daviddickinson6346 The fact all those people liked his comment says a lot about F1 these days
This season if Hamilton is worse than Russell it will be Mercedes' "fault", if he is better then is team mate then Mercedes is in the losing side
and in 2025, if Hamilton can't win, it will always be Ferrari's fault... if he wins, then he is a God
and Ferrari doing what it does best... horrible strategies.
I think its great that Lewis has let Mercedes know a year early. Gives them plenty of time to sort a replacement. Id like to think he still has a few Silver Arrows wins in him before he goes.
Nice on Lewis!
I disagree with JB Ferrari needs Lewis his feedback and is still a fearless driver and he is a workaholic and works until let night with engineers all the drivers said that
Plot twist: New Merc engine in '26 is mega and George (or Fernando) wins the championship 😂
Did you mention merch? I noticed that Jenson did!!!!!! This is a romantic and profitable move for Lewis.
This is exactly what He needs to do, to prove He is the GOAT. I don't think He will ever forgive Himself for not winning the title with Ferrari, given the opportunity. Brave call and I wish Him the best.
