Update: for generating armies, they also have ForceOrg which has more up to date models vs BattleForge. If you'd care to check those out as well I'll post a link below. Also! If you have issues with BattleScribe be sure to check out NewRecruit.eu steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3137407072
Oh man, I get shown random things I never knew about all the time too. It's wild how deep TTS is. That's awesome to hear though, wasn't sure this'd be all that useful for experienced players but apparently I stand corrected hah Appreciate ya Alpharius
Let me know if you guys have any questions or if I missed anything important! The more people we can get into the 40k community the better so I really hope this is helpful for some of you guys out there. Sincerely, don't be nervous about TTS, 99% of my experiences have been nothing but positive so don't hesitate to give it a shot
Wow… so glad I ran into this video before trying to get started. This is more complicated than I believed it would be. I kind of expected there to be mods that automated alot of this but from my very limited experience with TTS I really should have known better.
Be aware that the Battleforge mod pack hasn't been updated since back in 9th edition, and the new standard is ForceOrg. In your video, you can see the "Start-Here" channel just under the "start-playing" channel. THATS the new one we are pointing people towards. I'm not sure why Malice (the person who runs the server) hasn't removed the old channel yet.
Good looking out! I just checked it out & yeah those look great. I'll add a pinned comment so others can see it too Thats funny, obviously I'm am old timer so yeah kinda silly they're leaving up the old channel if it's not the most up to date
Appreciate that Mono! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for the heads up about the IW discord too, that's badass to hear my vids are getting shared out there :)
Dangit, now I wish I brought that up! TTS is fantastic for solo practice. Sometimes I just want to test out a combo or list & I can do a few test rolls real quick. Obviously let's you take your time when learning the game itself more too :) There's for sure TTS Kill Team players out there. Heck pretty much every game ever has a community on there hah Either way, great point & I'm glad this could hekp point you in TTS' direction
I've never used TTS but I'm thinking of purchasing it now during the summer sale on steam. You showed how to create a multiplayer game for me and my friends. Great - so how do they find the game and join it? Thanks - this video is fantastic and really sells TTS. It looks incredible. (Now if only i had unlimited free time - hah)
You normally do that thru the discord, should around 31:18 - to find a friends match the server browser will have a search bar so you'd just search for the game name :)
Hey mate, just wanted to ask. I downloaded the FTC map but it’s still on leviathan, do you know how to get it updated for Pariah Nexus? Thanks for the vid, learnt a lot of great stuff in it
I've been looking for people to help teach me how to play 40k on TTS for a little while now, i'd love to get into this. I'm collecting Tyranids IRL and want to learn how to play better and use the more advanced rules (IRL we play with very basic rules for now)
Hell yeah man, I'm glad you were able to find this video in that case! For real don't *at all* be afraid to hop on the TTS Discord & just ask if anyone would be willing to show you the ropes. All the time I see people willing to help & they're genuinely some of the kinder folks out there. Everyone's gotta start somewhere hah I'd recommend starting out with a 1k list or lower & then use either @LFG Beginner or @Mentor in the chat. They'll show you everything from 40k to anything else I might've missed I'd also recommend googling "Wahapedia Core Rules" if you want to brush up on anything (you can also Google Wahapedia Tyranids as well)
Great video! Would you happen to know of an updated map with the pariah nexus rules and deployment zones? Getting a game together this weekend and wanna try out all the new rules
Hey man, tyvm! So the FTC mod was already updated with Pariah Nexus actually - if you don't already have it I *believe* there's a link in the description (otw look for "FTC competitive base" on the Workshop). I'm not sure about maps for the 'stepped' deployments yet but a lot of the normal ones still work. With FTC you can select either Leviathan or Pariah Nexus from a little selector right next to the scorecard, has all the new deployments & missions built into it Hope that helps :)
I found Tabletop Simulator very useful to create most of the scenarios and narratives I wondered about, like Astra Militarim against monsters of a Death World or fighting against primitives on a new colony. The problem is I don't have players anymore. 😂
Lol I've been making random dioramas lately too. I might be a nerd... Heh, for players be sure to check out the discord! There's a million people looking for fluffy or casual games too, not just comp matches
You have to grab it from their Github & add it manually now. I'll post a link down below, lemme know if it gives you trouble though Open up BattleScribe and click to add a new repository (big orange plus at the bottom right). Then click on the button to manually add a repository (the small grey plus at the top of the screen). Paste the URL you previously copied and you're done. The new repositories will be accessible via new tab at the top called BSDATA and can be added by selecting them. Here's the repository: github.com/BSData/gallery#battlescribe And here's the direct link I do believe: github.com/BSData/gallery/releases/latest/download/bsdata.catpkg-gallery.json
@@nicorioule4869 glad to help! To save a game, select Games from along the top menu > save/load > save game, then give it a name. To load it you'd go to the same menu & just load the icon for your game. Hopefully that all makes sense!
I'd love to get back into 40k if only I had people to play with again, idk why it's so hard to get people to play or into the game. I've got a 3d printer and tons of armies, and even have bought people TTS, but nobody plays, that seems to be the theme for 40k I played quite abit of 10th edition combat patrol, and a lot of OPR on tts. Atm I am playing wow cata classic tho.
@@fatarchon Sadly no local shops around me, besides a gw store, but they're small, and I am not sure if they'd want people playing there, pretty much just showing newbies with a show. The other semi local store was roughly 30mins+ from me, and they moved further away, due to covid or a flood.
Not that I'm aware, BUT, I have to do that all the time myself (esp when doing the detachment reviews hah) - all you do is just reload FTC. Takes like 10sec once you get your rhythm down Thats part of the reason I like loading maps first. If you had models out you could just CTRL+C them, reload FTC then CTRL+V them back Hope that helps!
Assuming everyone has tts installed, Can I follow this guide and host a game with another tts users who hasnt followed this or do each of the players have to do all of these steps?
So long as they have TTS installed, yeah you can just host a server & it will auto install everything for them. No need to both download all the mods etc! (tho to make an army they'd need to dl that, or for you to make one for them)
@@fatarchon That's awesome. That makes sense. I was considering hosting some training sessions with pre-made (by me) armies to show off mechanics and modifiers (lethal, sustained, hazardous etc)
Well you convert them from BattleScribe or that .eu link I sent you. Tbh man you might try rewatching the video & following along with by either reducing the speed or pausing at it goes along. I have a different version from last year that might make more sense too (it shows a diff way to make armies). If all else fails & there's nothing on Google you might have to do it the old fashioned way until we can get it figured out :)
@@fatarchon Should have deleted the comment before now. Just a layout/UI issue. Figured it out two minutes later, and me and a friend worked out all the rest following your video. Thanks!
@fatarchon The part we were overlooking was the little yellow button that is the ForceOrg/Yellowscribe interface on the bottom part of the page. Got that figured out and got my Orks vs his Necrons good to go for tomorrow. Trash lists - I care a lot less about winning when I'm not playing Imperium forces. I always wanted to play xenos and Chaos because I can laugh just as hard if I get krumped. Thanks again for the video. Helped a TON with the learning curve.
Do you mean for the FTC mod? Yeah be sure you're downloading the 10th edition version. I believe the link should be in the video description (lemme know if not).
