    I really enjoyed this film as well. The trailer scene was awesome! I did feel a bit of tension whenever the Manson family showed up only because it’s always been kind of a horror story I’ve known about for most of my life. The ending was both deeply satisfying yet bittersweet. I’m going again to pick up on any of the little things I missed.

    Thank you for this review I was expecting this one so bad. ♥️
    But I heard that Bruce Lee daughter was upset about the portrait of her father , she said that they showed him like a “arrogant asshole “ and that that they didn’t show him as a person who worked the triple for get in his place and show case the world his natural talent. Also she said that is was very uncomfortable to watched people laughing on her father characterisation.

    Nice to hear your review about this Quentin Tarantino film. Though I am not always fond of his films as the violence can be quite rebutting, which filmmakers like Michael Haneke denounced and condemned in his horror film Funny Games, I think Tarantino is an important artist. On another note, I love his focus on dialogues like when he did on Kill Bill Volume 2, and the way he employs music admirably; for instance Ennio Morricone`s classics.
    Any chance of doing reviews on the Harry Potter series or the Fantastic Beasts one?
    Or even the Johnny Depp film The Professor? That film was excellent.

  • @Fancylooks
    @Fancylooks 5 років тому +2

    Thank you very much for sharing your considerations. I enjoyed this film because it is well done and a very good recreation of the 60s, the scenery, the clothes, the details, the music, I specially liked the use of the "Los Bravos" "Bring a little loving " song, a song I grew up with here in Spain (Los Bravos is an Spanish group even though Mike Kennedy, the singer, was not Spanish, their other well known hit is called"Black is Black"). I loved the acting, the representation of both friends, one who is the famous one, the one with the big money and carreer is always complaining and whimpering... but the other one is his loyal friend who would do anything for his long time friend and wouldn't even care about the money.. But I was disappointed that the film didn't have any story apart from the relation between friends and how cruel Hollywood is to aging actors. The Sharon Tate scenes going into a cinema to see herself and all that... I don't even understand why that needs to be there or what it adds to the story, not that I didn't like watching that but it was pointless. Everything was so good on the film except the plot... and that is the essential part! I would give it a 6,5.

    I must say I do like Quentin Tarantino, loved Pulp Fiction. Leonardo DiCaprio. Brad Pitt sometimes! Margot Robbie enjoyed her in Mary Queen of Scots. Although I was around when Charles Manson started his cult “The Family” I was young. He only died in 2017! That’s hard to believe. Maybe I should see this one, rather laugh than jump out of my skin.

    Tarantino did an impeccable job depicting the 60s and movies made during that era. He capture the style and well as linguistics used during that time period. The movie was done with class and respect to the Tate family. The only error, and I know it was done to add to the intensity of the movie, but krinwrinkle and Watson were not killed in real life. However, this was one of the best films by Tarantino to me...my opinion.

  • @nilajalove
    @nilajalove 5 років тому +2

    Had to wait to watch this until I saw it. Definitely liked the reimagined story of the Manson connection. I think Tarantino does that a lot, taking something in history and altering so that not only do the bad guys lose but lose badly. Cliff was definitely my favorite character as well. Brads swagger is still legendary. Leo was his usual top shelf performance self. Great storytelling

    Great review guys. Ending was great to change history. Those were the ppl who came to try to kill Sharon Tate. Charles Manson was never on the scene, he told Tex and crew to do what they did. I think Tarantino stayed true to that likely why we rarely saw Manson

    Wonder if they thought about 1969 was the year their dads went to Hollywood. A lot of that recreated scenery was their first glimpse of their new life. How wonderful to go back in time like that. Also did anyone think of Paul Newman and Robert Redford in the 'bromance/buddy' part? The posters remind me of that.

  • @healtheworldbitches

    I loved these little meta moments in the movie.
    The funniest was the "this is the moment you were all waiting for", because at this point the whole theater was waiting for the final, lol. Or the moment with the little girl that was reading a book, and was asking Rick Dalton what HE is reading, and is asking what the point, the core of his story is. And Rick explains it's the story about this characters life.
    And while Rick is explaining the story, you realize it's the story (well, metaphor lol) about Rick, and the girl (that kind of symbolizes the young and innocent enthusiasm you have at the beginning) says "wow, that sounds like a GOOD story", like Quentin is talking to us all the time, about THIS, HIS movie, LMAO!
    Little moments like these are the reason I really enjoyed this movie. And the ending! How no one is caring about the violence and they all just make jokes. LOL! And Rick is getting his happy ending, and then the title appears "once upon a time", I loved it so much :D
    I was going into the movie with absolute no expectations, maybe a "well, this could be boring, but it's a Quentin movie, soooooo..." and I was surprised how much I liked it.
