How To Install/Flash Android Nougat Nexus 5x/6/6p/9 Factory Images

- Get/download/update/ota official software/firmware version android o, nougat 7.0 system stock images Nexus 5x,6,6p,9, nexus player, pixel, use sdk tools to unlock bootloader in fastboot mode & use adb.exe tool to flash the system image to your android nexus phone or nexus tablet. BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA FIRST this will erase root if you are rooted. Make sure to download the correct factory image file for your nexus device. This process will destroy all user created data. When you are all done you can then oem re-lock the bootloader. Everytime you oem unlock the bootloader it will erase all data on your device and possibly void your device warranty. You will also have to accept an RSA key that allows debugging through this computer. You will probably get a pop up dialog on your device to allow connection. This is a security feature to protect users devices it makes sure that USB debugging and other adb commands cannot be executed unless you're able to unlock the device and tic the dialog. You will still receive OTA future updates as normal.

Worked great, thanks! One note: the command for locking the bootloader has changed apparently (at least for the 6P), it's "flashing lock" instead of oem lock.

All this time I was still with 6.0.1 My phone wouldn`t update for some reason and I just finally flashed 7.1.1 with March SP to my Nexus 6 by myself. All worked GREAT except I had to use PTP instead of MTP otherwise my PC didn`t see the phone. Happy now!

I found that the image I downloaded didn't include flash-all.bat. That was one for T-Mobile, so I found that the previous image did include this file. I followed your awesome step by step instructions and now I've got 7.1.1 Nougat on my plain jane Motorola Nexus 6. Thank you!

well done sir. nice video. I ran into some driver issues when attempting to unlock bootlader. it gave me that "waiting for devices" warning. If you guys get that, put the phone in bootloader mode, go to device manager and manually install the drivers for the phone. Just hit brown button and in the android sdk folder you'll find usb drivers ( if you have those downloaded which you should ). Make sure you install while you are in boot mode.
If you are updating a Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P device using the hammerhead or angler builds, update your fastboot tool to the latest available version (>=23.0.1), and then run this command:
fastboot flashing unlock
If you are updating an older device, run this command:
fastboot oem unlock
great tutorial. worked like a charm. used it to flash my nexus 6 shamu to 7.1.1. all commands and steps worked as described. cheers.

+jack jagadeesh usually when I get that error I have to download what's called the Google USB drive or go to Google and Google that and see about installing that driver what that means is I don't think your computer is seeing the device
all the steps are very detailed. just tried this with the Nougat 7.1.1 March update and it worked.

to anyone trying to flash their Nexus 6p post 2020. Platform Tools version "r30.0.0 (April 2020)" breaks flashing protocols, at least it did for me. Go download version "r29.0.0 (June 2019)". Any of the other builds from 2019 may possibly work, but I'm too lazy to check. I just needed a build that came out after the final update for Nexus 6p, but also a build before Android 11 was being pushed out that may have somehow broke something.

Hey Jamie, I am working on a Nexus 6P for a friend that attempted a flash of some sorts. Maybe a root. I have all the tools and files necessary to install a new OS, but the device is not in developer mode, it will not boot past the Google logo, and I am getting the unauthorized error in CMD. Is there anything I can do, or is this dead on arrival? Thanks!
+mRxjOhN sounds like you need the google USB driver installed for android devices. That way your computer can authorize it

i updated my nexus 6 to android 7.1.1 by this method but after flashing update my phone is stuck on google screen with an unlock sign on the bottom what should i do
mine as well: black screen with white "Google" and an unlocked lock icon at the bottom
actually, I went back, did the oem lock command, and it seems to be fixed

Okay, so I've followed this step by step for 7.1.1 because my wife tried out the beta program and it messed up her phone. So she's stuck on 7.1.2 even after unenrolling. After failing to get this process to work on my desktop (it would never recognize or find the adb driver), I tried on our laptop. Bingo. Everything working just like the video except this part... There is no file or anything that says "flash-all.bat" so now I'm clueless on what to do.. I've tried downloading from all the official android pages, platform-tools, and flash ota file for Nexus 5X. Do you have any tips or could you tell me how I could get the "flash-all.bat" file to appear? It's not hidden from what I've seen. Thanks.
sounds like you need to extract the file you downloaded from the google factory page. it's in that file. You have to use 7zip or something to extract it
Okay, so I tried what you suggested. Used 7Zip to extract the files but still nothing with that file name. I have downloaded the Full OTA 7.1.1 image and I even tried downloading the Factory image version. No luck with either. :( I do appreciate your response and video even if I'm struggling to get it to work. It's frustrating since I feel like I almost got it working...
I figured it out! Same thing was happening to me! You downloaded the wrong Zip file it's supposed to be under "Factory Images" not "FULL OTA Images" developers.google.com/android/images

So i'm preparing to flash stock rom. the ADB devices command does not come up with a serial number, but the flashboot command does. As my phone is in brick mode, i cannot enable USB debugging. My computer does not shows the phone in the explorer. I've updated USB driver though. What can i do, / if you have a video for such problem?

After I load the Boot Loader, My phone says "Connect USB Data Cable". so I cant go past this point. Otherwise the next point would be the Fastboot OEM unlock. I have tried this on two Windows Laptops I have. Everything works up to this point. I followed all parts exactly

very clear you video. I have a Nexus 5x which automatically updated to Oreo and it started to reboot. I made a hard reset and it started working but just for two days. Now I decided to downdate to Android Nougat but since I can't turn the phone on I don't know how to do it, if possible. Can you help me with this problem?

Hey my google pixel XL (1st gen) is stuck on bootloop.
At first I was able to get to recovery mode but now I can't.
Is there any way to factory reset the device without getting into "safe mode".
My device just bootloops now when I try to get to recovery mode.
Put it in the freezer for awhile and was able to get into recovery mode and factory reset my device.
Only problem is it keeps bootlooping even after the reset.

That’s because other ones don’t come OEM unlocked Google phones do

I haven't done any updated videos lately but it should for the most be the same process, there may be a few small changes but I would have to do an updated video to know for sure.

it should eventually go if not you might need to install the google USB driver. Because it might not be able to see your device. thats why your getting that message.

I reset the phone, I pressed volume up, volume down and power button at same time, I put in recovery mode and the same, the is stocked at google logo, I was trying the same at this video but the command prompt display a message that “advice devices is not a command”
Maybe the command had changed or make sure you type all that stuff in exactly. I need to make some updated videos for this. Search on UA-cam if you can’t get it with my video for a video that’s more up to date. That might help. Otherwise you’ll be stuck with your phone not working
I'm trying to install Pure Nexus room with the fix method for my bootloop issues with my 6P but it keeps not booting. The issue for me I think is the part where I flash the custom boot image or the vendar image part. Would I have to flash the vendor again if it coming from a stock install?

+sheshe740 you probably need to have everything enabled correctly and have the Google USB driver installed I think I've had that happen to myself actually once I install the driver in and unplugged and re-plugged everything back and then the zero number popped up just fine sometimes it's just getting everything to recognize each other first

You definitely should be able to. If not, you should be able to put a ROM onto the device as a temporary fix. I accidentally deleted my OS and had to use a USB-C to USB-A adapter to transfer a ROM .zip file over to the TWRP folder.

I think you can fix it in the settings if not just go into the settings and try a normal hard reset. That might fix it

I have to agree watched like six videos and none of them worked, because they were missing steps...Jamie! you my friend are great....but I did run into an issue. My phone did not get the new load screen for nougat it's still the old one from Marshmallow....also your factory image file along with the other videos I've seen has a flash-all.bat file. mine no matter what I did only had a flash-all file...is that normal. any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Hey Jamie I did run it and it did work. I was just shock it looked different. But what's the deal on the load screen...I still have the Marshmallow load screen with the swirling color dots. Ever thing I've seen on line the start up load screen looks different.

OK thanks I might just wait til the OTA comes back to my phone but it's been a few days and it still hasn't come. I have been unenrolled from the beta program for at least three days now and I still haven't gotten an update to go back to my factory reset .

from the phone only, you can always log back into your gmail account it does not delete your main gmail account only the app off the phone you just re download it and log back in

It did but I seriously don't know why it isn't recognizing the file I can get it to do the reboot boot launcher and everything else but every time I get to the end it never recognizes the flash-all (the most important part)
