- The clock is ticking on getting this truck to the racetrack! Ryan @StreetCarChronicles is hosting a race on April 27th called the Tailgate Throwdown. I promised him if he’s coming to race in my neck of the woods, then I’ll have a truck there, to compete!
In this video, I get some help from @rickseeman5679 swapping in a 4.10 sure grip chunk that’s on loan from @talljohnsfunshop2722! What else will take place? You gotta watch it to believe it. - Авто та транспорт
Surely makin' some progress with the Sure Grip!
For sure! Working back to front!
Going to be a nice truck.
Nice of Rick to come over and help you.
Thanks for sharing the process. 👍
Thanks Ed! It’s fun to have one that doesn’t have to be perfect on everything.
You got a lot done this lunch break . I think Mr Seeman needs to come around more often
Thanks brother Terry! Nice visit today
That 410 will wake old blue 👍🏻🇦🇺. You’re on a winner 🥇 .
Thanks brother! Stock stroke, no joke!
Even baby steps eventually pile up the progress. Nice engine bay and frame rails, battery tray. Pretty soon....Vrrrrroooom!
Thanks Mike!
I know the feeling getting the heavy iron 3rd members in place Joe lol All worth it in the end bud 💪
Absolutely is! Gonna propel this one to greatness!
You're dang near there! All you lack now is finishing! 😂
Ain’t nothing but a thing!
Great truck. One piece at a time. You'll look up and it will be at a green light!
Thanks brother! Looking forward to having fun in it
Sorry I’m a few minutes late. I had to cut down a crazy choke cherry tree for firewood. Great video today. Real progress!
Thanks Stan! That’s good smoking wood!
Looking great buddy. Now we both have a little extra time to get these trucks finished and tested. That old truck is in real good shape like you told me.
Thanks, buddy! Yep it was a blessing!
You’re making great progress and planning ahead like maybe you’ve done this before 😂. That center section did put up the fight of the century, made you put your purse down🤣🤣🤣! Boy o boy-I will definitely be using that one at the next appropriate time! What impressed me the most with this video tho…is how in the world you stayed clean rolling around under that truck! When I saw that yellow shirt I thought…by quitting time today-that shirt will never be the same! 🤷🏻♂️I’m impressed!👏👏👏 truck is looking good Joe!
Thanks Ryan! It’s going to be a fun, simple and mostly inexpensive build.
Awesome,Get-n-r Done!! You know those chunks are little lighter if ya just put a spool in it lol 🤣
😂 I agree. They need locked for life!
Lotta details to sort out. It's gonna be a great truck, when you get through.
Thanks brother! Getting closer each day
Loving this project. Giving me inspiration to keep plugging away on my 73 d100.
Awesome! Good luck!
Hello Joe! Hello Rick!
Hey Buddy!
It's a winner!
Thanks brother!
The 3 week drag truck….if you make it.
It’s all good. It’s going my way!
That pumpkin didn't cooperate at all for you. It's getting there bit by bit. Can't wait to hear the engine you're putting in it. It'll be fun to see iþ run.
.
Thanks Ron!
Good job Joe....looks nice....thanks🔧👍
No problem 👍
A jack looks good watching you struggle with it the mighty truck is coming along
Thanks Grand! Lots happening here!
@JustMoparJoe hey brother hood is this your main income you tube I just scored a 58 Plymouth savoy its nz new so right hand drive my poly will go in it just nicely wil, I have to get special engine mounts to fit it from a 6 to a v8
@@Grandadsjunk yes sir
Good stuff Joe! Love how you guys get after it. And I thought I was the only one who was "winded" after a long day of car work!!!
It takes a toll! Thanks brother
I need to stop being 2 hours away from home for my lunch breaks!
Haha! You’ll get it all done by then
Y'all got a lot done today! Looking good.
Thanks Buddy! It’s a fun one to mess with.
The Ute's looking great, certainly should be a ripper, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks Donald!
I love the “high performance” parts you have to drive in with a hammer 😂, been there done that!
That means there’s more high than there is performance!
Its funny you asked for a jack to break that diff loose considering i JUST used that trick not but a few days ago! Inversely I have come to be a true believer in doing that same thing to rock the replacement into place with a single nut holding the bottom in. I was always taught to do the top and drop it like you had done here but there is something funky with the 489's that makes them like shit backwards. I can't wait for the day you reskin those box sides! I might finally have the chance to give YOU advice for a change :)
(btw great suggestions on locating paint, oreilly/napa dont sell it for automotive anymore, at least here)
Thanks brother. I always like to work smarter, when I remember to 😂
Wow that’s gonna be light without an engine. Hope to see you at the Throwdown!
Definitely will, but not this weekend 🌧️
@@JustMoparJoe gonna rain there this weekend??
@@BigfootsnMopars starting Thursday
Shes looking good Joe
Thanks Ricky!
Looking good and coming along!
Thanks buddy! It’s an awesome truck!
Looking good man!👍👍
Thanks Lars! Baby steps until it’s done!
Coming along nice Joe! Love to see the progress!
Thanks brother!
Pretty chunky chunk, it was trying to whoop ya Joe
When the going gets tough, the tough beat the chunk!
Better than lifting dumbbells.
Absolutely more rewarding!
Can't wait to see it going down the track!
Thanks brother! Should be a fun one
Another job well done me and those creepers don't get along got long hair and it likes to wrap around the wheel's so I just lay on the concrete and cuss them in I'm 67 now not as easy as it used to be nice truck in the making
Thanks Ray. My dad always had to but his hair to shoulder length, because the creeper would get it!
I will say Joe that is a good looking shirt
Thanks Jeremy Hippie
I remember when I could do that Joe, nicely done😅lmbo
Thanks Dizzy!
If I remember right is the best "42" casting the one to have
Actually, 489 with a clutch type suregrip swapped in.
@@cjm5002 ok that sounds right I don't know where I got 42 from,,, thanks
@@jackwells1452 Well, if you get a choice between the 741 or 742 then the the 42 is a lot better. Most people ignore the 489 because they are trying to keep the clutch suregrip. 489 uses a cone style BUT you can swap the clutch style in and have a lot of various improvements. So you're not wrong my friend! Its a very common overlooked solution. Dr Diff offers complete conversion kits too.
@@cjm5002Ok, I was thinking that the 42 had a thicker pinion shaft than the 89, I trying to remember what I put in my barracuda back in 1975 and I'm pretty sure it was a 42 but hell that was a long time ago
Most guys do like the 489. I’m it scared of any of them if it’s a foot brake rig
Enjoying this thanks my rig is a 71w100 and I'm in the engine compartment too.
Thanks brother! Good luck!
👍 👍 👍 👍
Thanks brother
No easy feat doing a sit up on a creeper while holding the gear set!
I appreciate that. My core used to be stronger when I was a younger man 😂
@@JustMoparJoe For sure those sets are a lot of weight that’s awkward to hold when they are loaded with gears
You guys got alot done on lunch break, lol
Thanks Jeff! It was an 8 hour fast
@JustMoparJoe I knew you guys got to much done for a lunch hour. Main thing is it is coming together though. Keep up the good work.
It's gonna be cool.
Thanks Eric! I’m excited to see how it pulls
Do the axle tubes have grease fittings on the top of the tubes? I have a 77 8 3/4 that has them, would be a great maintenance upgrade.
This one doesn’t. Idk if I’ve ever seen that!
The difference between the compilation is in this video. Mopar Trucks To Da Front @
Thanks Blaker! Rain has allowed me more time in the whole shebang
When you get older you'll be using a jack, too. :)
Absolutely
Lunch Break!!
I’m down 50 pounds.. on just the tailgate weight 😂
It's great having a "Gofer" helping out instead of getting up and down all day long.
And creepers that don't creep are very irritating.
Absolutely!
Are you going to run the tailgate race this weekend at Newport
They just announced it’s a reschedule for all the rain moving in
Great work!😊 Are you assembling the engine or is Ed still working on it?
Thanks brother. This one is all me. Filming now on the rebuild of the 406.
I don't know why but some times YT won't let me comment on you're channel, I'm lucky today
Sorry Jack! Hopefully it gets ironed out! I appreciate the comments
What did ya take out, 3.55 open? She's coming together.
Yes sir. It had the peg leg 3.55 behind it. It’s in great shape behind the slant
Joe I would like to own that old dodge truck for my daily,,,
I’m undecided on what happens after it’s initial saga. It’s really a nice solid rig
I really enjoy your videos. I was wondering. What size wheelsl and tires are you planning on running on the back of that truck?
Thanks brother. The slot mags are 15x8.5-9". Kind of an odd wheel. To race, I have some 15x10's.
All that funk in the cowl is also down the vent doglegs so get in there with the vac and get that out. My 100 spits shit at me and its been vacuumed out a lot and it still spits crap out. Dirt in your eyes sucks. Love the idea on not hacking the box and will adapt that to mine too. I have a perfect box too. Lines through the box and the pump underneath works for me. I have my battery box and my wet nos tank and not sure where my nos bottle is going yet. In the cab or back there. I do like to have the fire ball behind me lol. So how is that ever going to hook up with the axle under the springs it wont weight transfer and the torque will toss the box up instead of pull it down. Or did i miss a step. Curious on how your going to going to control the rearend wrap up too. Slapper bars dont work they go the opposite way with rearend twist and go down not up. I know 50 questions lol. Oh and what shaft are you cutting down. B body shaft. I was told to use that one. Undesided yet. Stock on is pretty small tube. One these days we need to talk lol glad to see progress as the clock it tickin son. Its the 23rd. O
Thanks Rooster. I’m doing a traction bar video now and engine rebuild video also. They called the race this weekend because of heavy rain chances. That buys me more time. No matter how I do this suspension, it will get tested and reported!
@JustMoparJoe torque rotation makes the bars go down not up to the spring. And those springs are 4 leaf like mine but mine are tight yet those are kinda fuked so clamp them
@@Roosters_Restos here’s a good one for you to check out. These are homemade slapper bars. ua-cam.com/video/X8ZMGftdSfA/v-deo.htmlsi=n5r19wjFCFso_hYX
Sure would’ve been nice if dodge had hung a tag on the rearend bolt like the other guys did.
This one had a beautiful tag that said 3.55. But sadly, it was a single track.
@@JustMoparJoe I’ve never found one with a tag, I guess all the ones I worked with were newer.
RAWK!!
Thanks buddy!
I was driving old dodge trucks when dodge wasn't cool
More like "still driving them" in my case haha! Love my birdbath generation!
I think they’ve been cool since Koolaid!
@@JustMoparJoe I have too
Work with it ...
Yes sir 👍🏼
At least the engine bay is big enough for a Hemi or big block, why don't you move the cell right behind the cab less line and you can use the bed for your tools etc,
That’s an idea. The drag racer in me wants to get that weight to the farthest rear of the truck. That’s 7 pounds per gallon times 12 gallons. That’s nearly 100 pounds that I can move.
#JustMoparJoe that's true how about the battery on the pass side rear?Hate to see the bed used up with the cell
@@Alexander-nb1rz I went easy with the battery. The stock tray was perfect, so I repainted it and stuck it back in.
@@JustMoparJoe OK, the racer in you wants to put back in the back were you'll have a consent weight and your fuel not as consistent
Blue truck getting the 400?
Yea sir! With the stealth heads and RPM intake
Looking good, but Obiden will make you switch to all electric. Maybe Elon will sell you a good motor and battery.
AS long as I know hillbillies who can turn corn in to fuel, I won't have a problem.
Don't you wish you had a dollar for every time you lifted a 8 3/4 up in ?
I'd have a few $ 😂
I could buy a cheese burger and fries!
@@JustMoparJoe My dad had me change gears. Every time he raced 1/4 mile instead of 1/8 mile. And crankshaft offset keyway. I could buy us both a steak dinner. 🤣
My brother buried dads collector extensions . So he couldn't take them off and back on anymore.. 😂
