A 15 day night challenge so I can work on getting systems in place to see and be seen while riding at night. I have rules in place to keep me safe while riding, such as: no riding when tired, when it's raining, or at night; all of which are times of increased risks for accidents while riding. And then winter came. And I didn't ride for weeks. I decided I had to break this rule, and my fears. So I made myself ride at night to figure out how to make it safe, and overcome my fears.

Tell me below - do you ride at night? Why or why not?
Definitely still ride at night, but it is a different game. Bit slower and a bit smarter
I just had my first motorcylcle riding lesson at, night last week. (working on my A licence in germany)
And basicly all the isues you discribed occured during those 2,5 hours.
I'm also wearing my glasses all the time and reflections distract me pretty easily. My driving teacher guided me through some twisties, in the rain, at night.
Had a closecall with a fox. But luckyly I've been able to react fast enough to avoid it. Has been a very intense experience.
I did ride at night, commuting to work in the winter months and on long trips. Been riding for 50 years. I no longer ride at night due to vision problems, glare and the loss of the macula (center of vision) in my left eye. I hated riding in heavy traffic at night.
I do ride in the dark going to and from work, got to love 12 hour shifts with a 60 mile commute each way! I did add a LED lightbar (two extra LED headlights) to my Vulcan S because the factory headlight was pretty pitiful.
The only thing that will keep me from riding is cold weather (like 35 degrees with wind, but even then I might have an internal debate). I've ridden at night and enjoy the calmness, possibly because I'm a night owl, I love night time.
When I was a young rider night riding was my favorite time to ride. Now close to 70 it scares the crap out of me. Enjoy it while young , eyes get old .
Yeah, when I was young I had very good daytime vision (20/10 or 20/15), but my vision at night has always been pretty bad. The worst situation is at night, when the streets are wet. The water on the road reflects so much streetlight that I can hardly see the lines on the road.
Now I’m in my 50’s & both my day and night vision is bad😆
Same here... and I'm only 47. lol
This ^^
I love riding at night. Especially in summer. Alot of motorcycles headlights are not ideal in poorly lit roads. I normally try to stay on well lit roads. Riding late at night has the extra advantage of less vehicles on the road, so another positive right there. If you can get a few friends to go riding with you, it is even more fun to ride and grab a late night snack.
What about auxiliary lights.
Gotta get those LED's
It takes a brave person to openly discuss their fears. That’s one of the things we love about you, Doodle. It’s good to push though those fears but do so cautiously and be patient with yourself. I’m right there with you regarding the vision.
Doodle, I just wanted to let you know I've just bought my first bike at the age of 57. Your videos helped me a lot in the process of learning and taking my test. Thank you. Greetings from France.
Congratulations!!
@@kylepayne9657 THX!
So happy to hear ☺️ congrats!
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle Thank YOU, Doodle !😀
I'm a keen snowboarder and several years ago I had to find a solution to my glasses fogging up. I'd been wearing glasses for about 35 years or so and had never even contemplated contacts. I couldn't even put eye drops in my eyes let alone contacts. Anyway, my love of snowboarding and staying alive gave me the courage to try. It took a while but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I only use contacts when doing sport and when riding the bike if it's raining, so I'm still not that comfortable with them. But, they've made such a difference to my life. I'm loving how you're pushing yourself and conquering your fears!
This was unexpected but pretty helpful. I also hate how glasses inhibit done sports but am a little paranoid about sticking things in my eyes haha
@@SgtKillmorez I know what you mean. For me it was a no brainer once I realised how my fear was stopping me from doing something I loved. To get over your paranoia you need to find a damn good reason and then just do it and not let it control you. Good luck!
@@djakasha Great advice. Thank you for sharing!
This is why I watch you, Doodle! Because even after 40 years of riding, I learn something from you! I am ordering a Brake Free for my helmet right away! What a terrific idea! I rarely ride at night, but I have found that on occasional nights when I cannot sleep, I will get up and take a night ride in the cooler Florida air. There is virtually no traffic and you only have to watch out for critters on the road. I find that after an hour of riding at like 2 in the morning, I can go back to bed and fall fast asleep! Thanks for the info!!
Whoa!! 😅 there are other insomniac riders out there!
I like your videos cause they are orderly and to the point and fairly detailed. A lot of vloggers tend to get off point and start to stream of consciousness talk. At which point I tend to tune out or skip ahead. Keep up the great work.
Sooo I'm binge watching your videos and this is the first time I've heard "Hi, it's your little brown friend Doodle!" I laughed so hard! You're the best! Thank you for all the time, effort and knowledge you put into these videos!
I love night riding. I should probably stop wearing a dark smoked visor to ride though...ugh but I'm too lazy to change it everytime LOL
Dark visor does look cooler with helmet light kits though
Omg! 😅
@@TheFreaknasticus Looking cool ain't what gets you home my friend, but to each his own.
SAME GIRLLL HAHA
Doodle McNoodle, I have been riding for 21 years and have NEVER enjoyed riding in the dark. Ur not alone.
😅
I'm a nurse and commute an hour to work in the dark for start of nightshift. In country NSW, Australia, a good set of headlights is a necessity. I have a Hoglights headlight on my MT09. Low beam is good, but high beam is brilliant. Ride safe Doodle.
Finger in the eye to put in/take out contacts.... I am right there with you Doodle. Freaks me out.
You will have to get used to riding in the rain if you ever want to do some motorcycle traveling. Some of my most memorable rides have been in the rain. When wearing the right gear "Gore-Tex" and sporting the right tires like Michelin Pilot Roads, riding in the rain can be another motorcycling experience.
-agreed
Hey Doodle....so true about the bugs, they show up in volume not soon after the sun goes down. Keep on keepin’ on..!!
I have to ride in the morning and at night coming home from work i put extra lights it sure helped me i keep my speed down for wildlife . Keep up the great vids !
Thank you very much for this channel. You are my go to source for my daughter. We are presently preparing for an MSF course and her first bike.
I’ve never really feared riding at night, even when first starting. Likely though, only because I never gave it much thought or let some small fear or hesitation become a much larger one. I personally love night riding though as I find the quiet of the streets and the coolness of the air so liberating. I almost feel like the streetscape momentarily becomes my domain, until a car comes around and reality comes back 😅
I work 30 miles from home and I work the night shift, you adapt to it. My opinion I feel safer riding at night than the day, less cars and traffic/idiots on the road. Stay visible, plan your rides, and always stay vigilante even if your the only one on the road, that can change. Major props for doing it, stay safe everyone.
always hated the sun, rode at night whenever I traveled, seen some amazing Moon Risings an Moon Settings
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm terrified of riding at night. I also have astigmatism. Now I know this is something I can overcome. You are truly inspirational!
😄❤️ thanks kourtney! And thanks for being a channel member!
Nice video Doodle and nice recap of your 21 day night adventure... one thing I really admire in your videos is that you are not afraid push the envelope (i.e. you push your limits) ... in all my years if riding I am always advocating to others that they will never be a gr8 rider ONLY riding in perfect conditions. By all means ride at night.. in the rain... take I285 by the horns at 5pm and do you!!!🤗🤗
Also it's fun trying to identify your riding locations here in ATL....
Peace
Scott
I know this is an old video, so wondering did you add any extra lights to your Tiger? Thanks for vid good info. I used to love riding at night because so little traffic in upstate NY (Rochester). Haven’t tried it here in FL yet. Bugs were a problem closer to dusk in NY, but not so much at night. I don’t want to think about FL bugs🫣🫣
first thing i realized about riding at night is that any visor other than a clear one is just not cutting it for me. i always keep a clear visor in my swingarm bag just in case.
Upgrading headlight to a high quality LED unit makes a real difference at night. I also upgrade the turn signals to LED units which add some extra illumination. Then do some thing with tail light and rear turn signals to be more visible to cars coming up behind you. More light is always better and safer for night riding.
Came here to say this! Upgraded all my lights to LED from Amazon and they are fantastic, at a fraction of the cost of Harley. My front turn signals are daytime running lights and then blink yellow when I turn the signal on. Rear stay on with the brake light and then blink when I signal or get brighter when I brake. I can see sooo much better at night now and I think for sure people see me better too.
👋 contact wearer here. It took some time before I got used to poking my eye, so I feel ya there. Night time riding can be sketchy for sure though.
Progressive is my number 1 bike insurance company for similar reasons to what you mentioned.
Stay safe!
AHH!!!! 👁 👁
I have rode from coast to coast and back to Mississippi. Night riding is AWESOME.... I would find a place to throw a tent during the day and ride at night. To me night riding is more relaxing and peaceful that riding during the day. I love it.
You are so relateble.
Thanks for your passion to bring this awesome content to us :)
great video. Very important information for all of us. My vision is also really fucked up at night too. I'm glad I'm not the only one with these issues.
🤣🤣🤣 "time to go home and go to bed"...... brilliant video Carolyn,,👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 such great points to consider well thought out and filmed.....another ace report Doodle 😉👊
Ride safe….and Ride often! Love me some Doodle!💯🏍👍🏽🦾🔥
I ride regardless of day or night, I just ride. I'm more alert and my trust factor goes way down though at night. The later it gets at night, the higher the probability that other drivers out there are under the influence, so I'm hyper alert.
BTW, funny video, enjoyed watching.
I'm definitely on team doodle when it comes to the people that can't stick their finger in their own eye to use contacts. You people are just wild.
For real though 😅
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle I just started wearing glasses around November. Always either prescription clears or prescription sunglasses under the visor.
I've crashed plenty times and I feel like it would have to be something pretty horrific to crack the visor hard enough to go beyond that. At least in my experience.
I could watch shadow!Doodle from around 4:29 for ages, it's so mesmerising.
😅
When I was younger, I commuted to grad school about 30 miles each way, 95% on freeways for two years. That included many months of night winter riding. I got used to it and thought nothing of riding at night until I developed cataracts. Surgery solved those ,but I still only rarely ride at night. Your hesitancy is something I well understand. Do it if you care to, but never allow others to make your decisions!
I switched to a H-D "Daymaker" LED headlight and it has made a considerable difference in night visibility.
Thank you for this Doodle. I live in the UK and our motorways are mainly lit at night but its a different story on many of our smaller roads. I had no idea motorcycle lights weren't great so I will look out for this. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching more of your videos as I too am vertically challenged (5'7" with a 29" inside leg which made it difficult to find riding trousers where the knee pads weren't over my shins 🤣🤣)
Buy a Helite Hi-Viz airbag vest I know it costs but considering the nature of motorcycle street riding it’s worth every penny.
I can't stand the hi-viz, so I got one in black... they are kind of heavy and block some air flow, but gives extra peace of mind knowing I have a bit of extra protection... I did add a ton of silver high reflective tape all over my black one, and my motorcycles are lit up like Christmas trees :-)
@@MissyMalaprop I have the black one 2 best part is it matches with all of my gear. This type of tech is a no brainer for street riders hopefully more and more riders utilize airbag tech. I’d bet that fatalities ending in death would be reduced significantly added with a good helmet
You busted your left turn signal! Time for some LEDS!!! I replaced all of my bulbs except my back turn signals so far dang the new ones are hella bright!!!!
Keep up the Vlogs Doodle. (You go Girl).
I had bad Astigmatism too. I did lasik surgery and it worked out perfectly. I love riding at night and very early morning. Its very peaceful
- use no tint visor
-reflective gear if you have it
-bright underglow so others see you
-you can add fog/Aux lights to your bike so you can have more visibility
I have been riding for 34 years and can probably count how many times I have ridden at night on my fingers and toes. I'm not scare of it, I just have a well developed sense of self preservation. Obstacles that are a mere annoyance in the daytime can be fatal at night, such as large potholes or debris. Also, living in rural areas for most of my life animals on the road are not only a possibility, they are guaranteed - raccoons, porcupines and deer are the most common but moose are very likely as well.
The only thing that keeps me from riding at night is the possibility of animals on the road. It's always a possibility in rural Arizona but, it's harder to see them coming at night.
Yep, deer. Deer are everywhere. Even 15 mins from my house in London, deer get killed on the road. How do they even get that far?
Somehow the deer and I didn’t meet at night!
Deer is the big deal here, But dawn and dusk are the times they are most often moving from feeding areas to bedding. less seen in the mid day and late PM.
Yes definitely night riding is amazing just pray and go 💯
I’ve been sticking my finger in my eyes for 36 years now 😂 Astigmatism and a small cataract have now made night riding (and driving) a drag even though I love the warm summer night rides. I always feel like Ghost Rider 🔥 blazing down the road. Bugs, potential small animals and blinding lights in my eyes make it less fun. I use the window just before sunset and about 30-min after to get a ride in.
Eyeball poker!!
Guilty 😂
I've always had the night vision problem also. I've ended up just wearing glasses, but definitely checking out the shatterproof ones you talked about! Glad to know I wasn't the only one though. Stay safe out there!
Great video. You are an inspiration to push past my perceived limitations.
Also, an early request for you to put together a 2022 calendar. Love my 2021 calendar!!!
Loved the "little brown friend Doodle" intro.
Thought I was the only person going to bed that early... I leave for work at 4:45am... I live in the country so traffic and being seen isn't a problem but I do get a lot of stopping practice when the deer & elk run out into the road...lol
Omg I don’t have to get up that early thoooo 😮
There's something I really like about riding at night during the summer. Moreso in a city setting as there are the lights and less bugs. It's cooler and less traffic. Great way to unwind and end an evening.
having my eyes corrected with Lasik was the best thing for riding... went from like 20/400 to 20/15 and no more glasses or contacts.
Doodle, Good video. The clip on lights are a great idea especially for some idiots in cages. The more you are seen the safer you are especially at night. I have a tough time driving at night too. The headlights on vehicles bother me. Have a great weekend Doodle.
Hi Doodle, congratulations.
I just had to ride at night as part of my motorcycle license course... and I absolutely hated it. Twisty roads in the countryside are still a challenge at daytime, let alone in the darkness, but as I need to be able to see out of the bend, to know when and how far I to lean into a corner, its almost impossible to judge that, when it is fully dark. I was creeping along most of the time and my instructor said, that was quite OK. In Germany we are required by law to ride in the dark, when learning to ride, but I rode as slow as I wanted, because I did not want to hit a dear, or a racoon at 50 mph. Thank Goodness that´s over and done with.
Whoa!! @required to ride at dark
Good job on conquering your fear of night riding 😎😎
Hi Doodle, yes I ride at night almost every day. Approx 64km/hr (36m/hr) each way to and from work. It’s usually dark when I leave at 4am and 5-6pm. I find it normal but sometimes it’s hard to see especially when it’s raining 🌧. The rain doesn’t bother me or the dark, just other riders and driver’s. Just have to try to have a bigger space cushion between them and yourself. Keep up the great video’s. TrickyTrev 🇦🇺👍🏍🏍 As always keep the shiny side up
Thank you for the former name listed so I recognize your new *look* 🤪
Hi Doodle. It's good that you were practicing riding at night, but it looks like keeping yourself up late to ride was making you very tired. You said driving while tired is more dangerous. Be careful!! We all look forward to many more video from you! Take care.
Hence why most of those rides were done at 3am! 🤪
May ride at night if in the city but no fan out in the countryside! Too many critters at night! Good topic Doodle! That lighted gear lol, never even knew they made stuff like that. 😉
When I was younger I use to ride at night quite often. Now my eye site and reflexes are not what they use to be, so I try and limit my riding to daylight hours. That way I can see farther and give me more reaction time. Besides, where I live deer are as plentiful as rodents. They come out more often at night, too. Again, it's all about reaction time.
I prefer to ride at night, after 9:30-10pm. Less traffic, and cooler in summer months. I just make sure I am visible enough.
I've had Progressive insurance since before I found your channel.
Regarding contacts, what helped me was touching my eyeball and keeping my finger on it until I got used to it. This helped me a lot in learning to use contact lenses, and not blink right before touching my eyes.
OH MY GAWWWWWWWDDDDDD
Hi Doodle, night riding is not for everyone, there's the advantage of less traffic on a long a journey, but more stressful, on unfamiliar roads, which may be poorly lit. Riding at night, in the rain, is more hazardous, and not much fun!
100% agreed on people who wear contacts! 🤣👀 Cheers from France keep it up!
😂👁 seriously though
I wear glasses and when I ride. I found that HJC helmets are the only helmet I have no trouble with to wear my glasses cuz they have the cutouts. Keep up the riding and practicing 😉👍
I love riding at night, but I'm a night owl. I work nights and have for the last 15 years. I enjoy the lights as you come into town, the reduced traffic between 1 am and 4 am. Also I'm pretty much a risk taker, 1 rule of thumb I have if it's not raining when I leave the house I ride. I've gotten wet a few times but I have enjoyed a lot of rides I otherwise would have missed.
Glad you're getting out learning how to ride when ever. Next snowmobiles. LoL 😂 thanks for sharing. Much love. Stay healthy and safe.
I just turned my lease in last month so for the past few weeks the only vehicle I've had is the motorcycle. Fairly rural going into work at 3am. The animals are what I have to watch out for. Cats, possums, deer, turtles, squirrels, even came across my first moose since moving up here. Riding in the rain is still a pain, I need better rain gear, the stuff I have is cheap. It works but barely.
Contact lenses are worth getting used to. When you first get them I got the optometrist to fit them so I could feel what they were like. Over time your eyes desensitise and it’s much easier to to put them in and out. I think you find you jojitsu will also benefit from them. The other option is to get a modular helmet (flip up helmet) as it allows you to put your helmet on without taking off your glasses. I have two helmets. One of each sort. Hope that helps.
Progressive Insurance was a great choice. They were quite competitive. When I bought my Energica Eva 107, they would not cover it, so I had to switch.
You are hilarious! Just found your channel. Aside from the fact your adorable, super impressive your motorcycling. Get the eye surgery, I had it done at 50 because of a stigmatism no more glasses. Both daughters and wife had it also and everyone sees great. Would highly recommend it.
My favorite riding is night riding. I love it. I have lots of lights on my Ultra Ltd and I put deer whistles since the critters come out at dark😎😎
I ride at night. I also have astigmatism in both eyes.
I added LED driving lights to my bike. They add near field vision that fill that section between where the headlamp has to hit the road to be useful at speed and the actual front of the bike.
As far as visibility to drivers, about all you can do it add lighting to the bike. Reflectors only work if they point their headlamps directly at you, so add as many lights as you can tastefully fit on your bike. Denali makes some great ones, and Amazon has cheap self adhesive LED strips that can be easily hidden.
Oh yeah… one thing to keep in mind when riding at night is death from above. Ok… not really death, but stuff flying around above the coverage of the headlamp. I can’t tell you how many bats I’ve taken out with my helmet. Big bugs, nocturnal birds (owls will ring your bell), flying road debris… they’ll come in from above and you likely won’t ever know what struck your helmet, even if you stop to look (it is dark, after all). Mostly, there’s no serious threat to you with all this, but it’s something to be aware of.
I wear contacts and it’s so much better then glasses, I find them a pain in the a**. Night riding I absolutely love it, something about it 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hey Doodle, yeah riding at night is a bit spooky, even for an old marine like me. I do like it though, the world is more peaceful and the landscape looks different. Has a cool feel to it, for me anyway. You are so good at tackling your fears and meeting them head on. You'll be a stone cold warrior woman before you are thirty!! But do not lose that sweet disposition under any circumstances my little friend and thats an order!! Rubber side down and enjoy the ride! Check on you later :)
One thing that’s always worried me when traveling at night is the fact that it’s far harder to judge wether a bike or vehicle is moving or stationary or how fast it’s moving from just the sight of a light.
Just a thought. Stay safe Doodle..
True!
A lot of people have trouble even in bright day light... always be careful and assume they cannot see you. Plenty of people pulling out in front of semi trucks and going "I didn't see it" in broad daylight 🤣. Be hyper vigilant at night and day, and be safe!
Some of the most fun riding is on Sunday mornings just before sunrise and then ride on into the light of day. Especially in an urban setting. As far as vision, little details you can't see CAN hurt or kill you, so be careful as you always seem to be.
When I first started riding at night, it was around 10 or 11 pm along the beach fronts of Florida. Less traffic and it was cooler out with the seabreeze. Sometimes my friend would ride with me as well until I got comfortable enough. I also have Progressive insurance and they treat me well.
anytime is the best time to ride!!
I've always felt twilight is the most dangerous time - everything has faded to grey, not all the streetlights are on, not all cars have switched headlights on,.... and as for the cyclists - holy s..., it's like they have a death wish, dressed like ninja commandos, for that super stealth chic.
This is one reason why I got a white helmet. For some reason white really stands out at twilight.
I love riding at night but where I live in Australia, our biggest danger is kangaroos and wombats, still do it though.
Kee up the good work!
Colin
I ride to work at night almost everyday sometimes its sketchy but for the most part I enjoy it
I suggest installing LED headlights. Definitely a MOST if you are riding at night.
Get a l.e.d headlight for nightriding. You can see so much better at night!!
I can't fathom contact lenses either 😎; nice bike lighting.
I try not to ride at night because there's freaking pot holes everywhere which I can't see, and my wife won't let me so I have to sneak out if I do want to ride at night. Also you have to worry about hooligans that want to cause trouble. with bikers. So with that in mind I also carry a .45 for protection when I ride at night, and sometimes in the day time if I think my route will take me to a shady hood. Either than that I try to avoid trouble.
Yellow lens glasses help. You can get clip ons for your prescription glasses, that’s what I do. It really cuts down on glare and you get used to it pretty quick.
Didn’t know about those!
Fear is a healthy, life extending emotion.
The only thing fear does is stop u from living life
@@Adrenalean767 so are you recommending the no fear approach? My point is exactly the opposite, no fear = short life span. I have a healthy sense of fear of non-favorable events potentially happening, but I also just returned from a solo moto-camp week on a 1000LB behemoth, fear notwithstanding. Acting without considering potential dangers is risky behavior, but I have learned this knowledge usually comes with age, I would wager you are 25+ years younger than my half-century old ass. Ride safe!
I ride both day and night. I wear glasses with a modular helmet. I've got the day maker lights on my harley and they are super bright. My wife loves night riding with me.
Night riding is a must.
One luxury of riding a bike like the BMW R1250 GSA is that I can put extra lights on it without it taking away style points. I actually have two sets of auxiliary lights. The pair on the fork I use most because they work sort of like corning lights. Being down low I can have them adjusted for a wider lighted area without worrying about blinding other drivers. The second pair are better suited for off-road use, but I have them tied into my high beams, though they are usually only set to run 50% brightness. If I'm on a section of highway with no other cars around I'll flip on my high beams to really light things up.
As for rear visibility, I haven't added anything. I haven't found any products where I actually like how they're mounted or integrated into the bike. /shrug I'm not going to wear a bunch of lights so that's right out.
Awesome content, finally subbed!!🙏👍🏼 I use glasses as well, but, whenever I ride, I wear contacts. Took me about a week of daily practice to get those things on🤦🏽♂️🙄🤣😂🤣 . The advantages, for me, of contacts are (1) no fogging and (2) massive periferal vision!! 20 plus years later, zero issues, and I swear I ride faster with my contacts!! Lmao
YOU HARDCORE 👁
I prefer to ride at night in the summer so much cooler, However when I had my Harley it was like I wasn't even there multiple cars never saw me. I have a Ducati Multistrada now and its like the sun the lights are so good and I definitely feel safer knowing they can see me for sure.
Ooooh!
I have a stigmatism too!!! I also…. Have a fear of contacts. 👀 Keep us posted on any solutions you find!
I just did! 🤪 shatter proof glasses - rated 787 - check the description for the link and discount codes
I felt for you when you talked about sticking Contacts in your eye. I get the same reaction when I think about it.
I wear shatterproof nightriding glasses with correction from Eyerex, a European company from where the cheese and watch makers live, Switzerland. I swear by them and have used them about 7 years now.
Hey .... what I did was get prescription safety glasses that I ride with...they are close fitting and have a strap and shatter proof. ANSI approved...i have astigmatism too which make me night blind....I feel ya
I love riding at night. I just put a whole new underglow kit on so I can be much more lit up while riding :)
When I thought about getting another bike, I knew it was not going to be like it was in my younger days. No all weather riding, not much night, except when the weather and location made it fun and safeish. No more street racing, or crazy speeds for the conditions. Group riding would be only a hand full of persons I knew, or maybe one newbie I was mentoring. So no necessity riding, only recreational. No bone chilling cold rides, hail storms, rain only when I got caught out. These days the weather forecast is so good and you have radar in your hand. That is not likely to happen...
I feel like I need to ride better at night. Messes up my line because I can’t see as far ahead. Confidence is shattered. The goal is for me to feel as comfortable riding at night as I feel in a car. That ain’t gonna happen. I may get better at riding at night, but it is different. I will never be as quick as I am in a car at night. Also, your night vision is the first thing you lose as you age.
I will never age 😈😎
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle - lol - that’s the attitude to have.
Always thought nights were better cooler and less traffic. Day or night rode with high beems on. Adjust your speed to ride within path of light.
Make sure your headlights are not pointing too low. My headlight was pointing too low from the factory. It was scary riding like that because I was outrunning the distance that I could see. So I adjusted it upwards. There are various methods for getting the right headlight aim, but the main thing is that they shouldn't blinding other drivers. When you are riding behind a car, you can see if your light is too high on the back of the car.
Great video--good topic. I love to ride at night. Its more exciting and therefore fun-ads another dimension to the experience. However, my bike does need better headlights to do it on highways or whatever. That said, I recommend you consider a Motodemic headlight for your street triple. They offer a really cool looking single headlight to replace the streety bug eyes so that can be a plus or minus (if you like those cicada looking things you've got now lol-and I can say that since I used to own a STR). In addition the motodemic lights are LED so work much better. Just a suggestion for you to consider.
I took a BIRD or BAT in the face at night a long time ago it hit me so HARD it knocked my left hand off the bars and I came insanely close to a crash
Dude,me too!Small world :-) Took a bat to the head at 5am doing 50-60.It got stuck in my hair and I freakin' lost it.Ended up about 70 yards into a field, still upright, thank God.That's the day I bought my first good helmet and the vest became an under layer for my new armored jacket.Good times.
Where are you guys riding into bats!!? 🦇
Exactly the same happened to me years back. Big bird, vulture or turkey (it was a blur) hit me in the shoulder as it failed to take off in time and crossed the road as it was trying. Knocked my hand off the bar and made me do a huge wobble.
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle They are everywhere. And hunt bugs at night. Those bugs that are drawn to your headlight....
