I was completely confused when I went to the US. I learnt at school that "coke" was the English word for "Cola", so at the first restaurant I ordered a coke. "Sorry, we've only got Pepsi." Huh? So I took the Pepsi. Next restaurant I ordered Pepsi; they told me they only had Coke. After that, my friend finally told me that I could just say cola. Meanwhile in Germany, we drink whatever kind of cola the waiter brings us. Except if it's Fritz Cola - they usually write that in the menu because it has so much more caffeine.
