Kyle Liong Car Reviews man but this compared to a jag xf this is quality material where the xf has parts and bits falling apart like a car twice the benz age.
Beautiful car indeed especially the wagon version of that w211, it was very informative, hopefully, someone sells their w211 body e63 amg here considering its rarity.
actually the SBC system is programed to spit errors after 300k harder brakes, but if u reset it the problems go away and works as new (i learned it the hard way) overal the mechanical parts are quite afffordable and last a long time. i have thee 2.2 diesel engine in mine, wich is a tank (oh and i have the manual version)
When you were referring to the brakes, my guess is that it has something to do with Mercedes' SBC system, which debuted with the pre-facelift W211. That was dropped for the facelift variant because of customer complaints and unreliability. My dad has a W211 facelift E200 Kompressor. I like the look of the facelift W211 a lot better with the new "3D" grill and more angular front end design. I get what you mean with the cheaper materials. That plastic surround around the headlight switch, for instance, is prone to getting sticky. Although I have never driven any other E-class, I think the W211 facelift is a great car. It just lacks any useable cup holders (the one in the centre console is optional, and the one in the back is far too shallow), and I would personally like something more powerful (maybe an E350). I'm not sure I agree with you about this being "just a car" and not "special", but hey, I'm biased. I'm 100% in agreement that the DaimlerChrysler merger didn't do Mercedes any favours. Daimler lost a lot of money out of the merger, so I guess it's no surprise that they had to find somewhere to cut costs.
And they sure did cut costs :( Yes, it’s probably the SBC haha! I guess it’s just that coming from driving the 210 and 212, the 212 just feels really underwhelming.
Umm.., entry and exit into the back seat seems more difficult for those with long legs & big feet - notice the position of the rear door front lip at 5:45 . .
Not as good as w213 ? The w211 was built in 2002 and is one of the best and most beautiful cars that Mercedes Benz has ever built. Especially the m112 and m113 engine. Best Motor Mercedes Benz has ever built
@@KyleLiongCars the w211 is very reliable Sir. Like I’ve said, Better than any other models Mercedes Benz has ever built and I’m saying that working for Mercedes since 20 years now in Germany But I’m talking only about the first models and not the Facelift which got the M272 and M273 Engine. To me two of the most catastrophic engines Mercedes has ever built. So got from Best to worst in just a couple years and they did it because the Mercedes Group lost lots of money cause of the M112 and M113 and created the new engine way to weak to make more profit and that damaged a little bit the Brand. Sorry for my English
The engine isn’t that bad and the fuel consumption should be decent for the E200. The only issue with the W211 in general is the electronics, and interior quality
@@KyleLiongCarsYour welcome. I'm only doing this for the benefit of everyone who are concerned with their "appearance". On top of that, its one of those things that are overlooked or unaware by many.
I’d say make sure you check each and every electronic feature and see if they’re working. This particular car for example had Christmas tree lights on the dashboard despite being well maintained. If you can, try to look for models which have interiors that have been well taken care of as the materials on the interior for these W211s aren’t of the best quality.
Well 2 main factors here. 1. Tropical Philippine heat destroys leather, rubber, and plastic interiors and 2. Small Philippine roads means way more time in traffic, more stress to the engine, and longer time under the sweltering sun. To give perspective, the average distance cars travel here (for non luxury cars, and usually for those with only 1-2 cars) is around 10K Km a year. Luxury cars generally do way less than that here

I agree this is a thing for bigger roads such as in North America or parts of Europe, but for Manila, it's way more than enough haha! We have cars here that even go as low as 800cc
@@KyleLiongCars well I live in Germany and it's just too slow and thirsty. I upgraded to a facelift E500. The E240 feels slower than the E500 with a big trailer and the fuel consumption is pretty much the same as the E240. In my eyes a very good decision. This might be very different for you of course. Do you have the Suzuki Celerio Diesel on your market?
We have the Celerio, but only in gasoline form, no diesel. It’s such a gem to find E500s are as they are very very rare. If ever we find one for sale, they could probably cost well over 1.2 1.4M Philippine Pesos which for a W211 is just absurd in my opinion. For that price, you can already get a good low mileage well maintained W212 E300, or even a W221 S350. I think aside from E240s, the only other W211s that I have encountered here are E200Ks, and E280s.
@@KyleLiongCars ok I know that in India the Celerio Diesel is selling well so I thought maybe it's the same in Manila. Ok I didn't know that E500s are so expensive over there but when thinking about it it makes perfect sense. They're very expensive when new. There's no place to use the power and the Philippines are a pretty isolated market. I made holidays on the Philippines and I remember renting an underbone because it was the cheapest option and I knew how they work as I had a Honda Innova back then here in Germany to get around city traffic during rush hours and it's small enough that nobody complains when parking on the sidewalk. If you're curious about German used car prices go ahead and look on mobile.de the site also offers English language and many others too. I just love my E500 especially I converted mine to run on Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG). Usually a liter of petrol costs around 1.2€ or more. Now the petrol is very cheap due to corona and low demand. Usually you can easily pay 1.5 or sometimes it's even been at 1.75 . For LPG I pay 0.5€ per liter. Quite a difference. Sorry for my long response.
@@alenanikitina5929 No no don't worry about it I appreciate long responses such as these :) Yeah there's just absolutely no place to drive big displacement cars here, although I'd still love to have one for fun. Even simple accelerations after a red light bring a lot of joy to me hehehe! I do quite often look around for used car prices overseas such as in Germany or the US and damn how envious I become once I see them :(( There's so much cars for sale that I can afford if only they are priced similarly to what you guys have over there. Perhaps someday :)
Correction as pointed out by viewer Wyld Stallyn:
Engine is a 2.6L V6 M112, not a 2.4L.
Thank you Wyld Stallyn :) This is much appreciated.
Kyle Liong Car Reviews brakes use the sensotronic brake control system, a brake by wire system which is why they feel different.
Great to know! They feel really different haha! Thanks for the information :)
@@KyleLiongCars hi there. Have any reviews on the W212?

Don't forget to mention the SBC system. A great feature for stop and go traffic but notoriously prone to breaking.
Reading up on that now, and from it’s description alone, sounds like it was designed to fail :(( Just such a complicated system to begin with
@@KyleLiongCars the facelift had the whole SBC unit removed. But it was replaced with a hydraulic system which was more expensive to maintain.
Lesson learned. Stay away from the Daimler-Chysler era hahaha

There are adaptors for stock CD-s
