Cool vid. I used PT back in the day and it was the clunkiest mess I’ve ever seen. Apparently it has improved quite a bit since the early 2000s. For the music I do, I love the ease of Live, and the stock plugins are very useful once you get to know them. You should try the new vocal comping/take lanes feature. I honestly thinks it the easiest and best implementation out of all of them. Another great thing about Live is the midi recording. You basically never need to hit the record button anymore because it’s always recording! Definitely one of the best features I’ve seen in any daw!
I have been using Pro Tools for years (since the early 2000s) and its always been solid. I have tried the comping feature in Ableton but I don't find it as intuitive as Pro Tools. I do like that MIDI feature in Live a friend recently showed that one to me.
That was awesome! I recently bought ableton 11 but kinda wishing I had PT; can't justify buying both though lol. Would love to see some ableton content (from recording musician perspective) and maybe transferring songs from ableton to PT as I will need to get my songs to a mixer who uses PT. Great content! U got a new subscriber!.

@Greacher ableton is DEFINITELY better for beginners. Personally, I prefer ableton over FL, but you'll find tons of people who like FL better. I just find ableton much, much easier to work with. Pro tools is geared towards people who do audio work professionally and kinda sucks to use sometimes, so unless that's your goal, I wouldn't recommend it

Samplitude Pro had a lot of these features years ago, and it's one of the least known DAWs out there, but so useful. I remember so many years of using it, but now I'm really enjoying Pro Tools.
Thanks for this video and sharing your knowledge on both DAWs. I was wondering, do you think ableton would be better for making instrumentals / beats? maybe a faster workflow? or would you still use pro tools?
Yes it will, Ableton is like a beat machine, Pro Tools is more like a tape recorder. However you can make beats in Pro Tools as well. Some people use pro tools to track their beats into and just mix and master. You need to choose your workflow that suits you best.
I’m a mix engineer and studio producer who has used reason , ableton, ProTools and studio one. Ableton live 11 with Izotope post production suite is by far the best combo I have used. Pro tools is honestly the lower tier of software. It’s just not that good overall. Workflow is horrid compared to Ableton and avid completely takes over admin permissions on your computer an will fuck everything up on the other programs. Now it’s a subscription? I no longer use pro tools yams have turned down or lost quite a bit of business because of it but the smile is from ear to Fuckin ear baby!! Insert a click track??? 🤣🤣🤣 I rest my case.
Everyone is entitled to their own personal opinion. Depending on your needs each program may suit someone better. Pro Tools is amazing for editing and does have features that Ableton does not. Likewise Ableton has features Pro Tools does not, really depends on your preferences in my opinion.
hi, sorry for my english. Comparing WARP mode between ableton and PT, ableton engine is extremely better than PT in my opinion and its killing me. I used PT and its work bad in my opinion. You said that the pro tools is good... but i am not sure. Has you made the comparisson with the same audio, example a bass track? Thanks and great video.
For music production (making beats and electronic music) I think Ableton does do a better job. Pro Tools works and is great for fixing issues with timing of recorded instruments but they do not operate in the same way. I look at Ableton like my old MPC2000xl beat machine and Pro Tools like a tape recorder. Thats the best analogy I have for each program. Hope that helps!
It’s honestly not the saw that gives you a great sounds it the user and how you create. The DAW is a tool. Pick the tool that suits your needs and function.

@@DistinctMastering I love both, but unfortunately don't make money out of music to justify pro tools subscription. I learnt on pro tools in the 90's and when I could finally afford my first 002rack it came bundled with Ableton live 4?(maybe 5 was pro tools 6) and they have lived side by side in my home studio for over 20 years (😞 I'm so old) but now the subscription has forced me to make a decision. I'm going to upgrade my Ableton 10 to 11 and ditch (sadly) my favourite tracking DAW Pro tools.
