I’m an Aussie who was brought up by my dad on excellent British comedy, and this is my favourite movie of all time. I have watched this hundreds of times and I still laugh and I used the “your mother was a hamster” quote to my sister the other day for a laugh and she knew exactly what the next line was and we had a giggle. Such brilliant writing never ages, and the Poms do it the best! I’m proud to say that my son has also been brought up with English comedy and has a HUGE collection of his own. All thanks to my dad listening to The Goons in the car when I was a kid. Absolutely adore Red Dwarf too!!! If I ever feel crappy, it’s British comedy that I watch to feel better. And great memories with my dad, now gone, watching The Two Ronnie’s and Dave Allen Show when I was a teenager.

Mocking obvious plot holes in movies. To the French: "What are you doing in England?" Reply: "Mind your own business!" Yep, not even going to try to explain the plot hole Arthur pointed out. This movie is sheer genius when it comes to spoofing adventure films.

To see someone half my age still enjoying what was already a classic when I was a kid is just joy. Sure, not everything ages as well as others, but it's made to be enjoyed and a glimpse into the past. It is not always the fancy CGI and special effects that make it good, but the story and heart put into it.
Now if you want to keep with British humor, may I suggest Red Dwarf or Are You Being Served.

I have heard these insults being used in everyday life. Everyone knows the context, and doesn't take it seriously.
In the legends of King Arthur and his knights, the search for the holy grail features quite prominently. The film is really an excuse to stich dozens of sketches, with a medieval flavour, together. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's great fun.

"What are you doing in England?......Mind your own business!" Presumably Normans. The thing about the Pythons was, that they were _really_ smart and knew their stuff, but were able to use historical events and make them seem totally mundane. The idea of the French soldiers giggling behind the wall! Another great line "I am Arthur, King of the Britons.....Who are the Britons?" There would've definitely been people living here, back then who were totally unaware of their place in history etc! 😉😉

You should check out their TV show from the late 60s into the early 70s, I believe that's about the correct time. If anything, just do it on your own. We survived on their reruns on PBS after they quit the show. We were very ready for the movie by 1975. I remember seeing it. The theater was packed. I didn't even know there were that many fans in town. I thought it was just us idiots. The movie did not disappoint and is always good for another watch from time-to-time.
