For those with an existing wired analog alarm system: If your wires are not labeled, most older systems are not, or your Zones are not marked, this is my recommendation: Use a Toner/Probe to find and mark your wires (Zones). I used a Fluke Pro3000 in my Telephone/Internet cabling work. It makes finding/labeling cables a breeze. Check Amazon, there are cheaper ones out there. A Toner/Probe is a great tool to have in your collection. Also one more tip: When setting up your Zones, I would recommend one Zone per Door. The other Zones, I did per Room, ex. Formal Dining Room (3 Windows, One Zone), our Living Room (2 Windows, One Zone). I made my last Zones, Motion Sensor and Smoke Detector(s) (We have a First Alert System, 5 Alarms/Detectors, all you need is a inexpensive relay for Konnected)
I agree 100% with the toner probe suggestion.. way more uses than just trouble shooting lines for your konnected board! Fortunately I had already done all this leg work when installing my original konnected board. I also like the new interface for the konnected integration in Home Assistant if you haven't seen it check it out I am really happy with Home Assistant as my all-in-one automation application!
@@intelligencequest So Home Assistant is definitely on my list but two concerns, one I use Actiontiles, and two how is the Home Assistant App with Routines/Scenes and Automation? We use the two alot, especially automation when we leave with our phones our alarm automatically arms. Thanks
Static IP: The new Konnected Pro board does Not allow you to set a Static IP on the board. The only way to assign an IP is through your Router, via a DHCP Server. You can set a Static Mapped IP (Reserved) on your Router with the Pro board's MAC address but this method of setting an IP makes your Konnected board dependent on your Router, which in my opinion is not a good idea. Not sure why this new Alarm board is designed this way. For those who are not aware, the Konnected Alarm will still operate like any other Alarm without Internet/Network access, you just would not get the notifications if a Zone is tripped. In other words, your Siren would still go off as normal, it will just no longer be a Smart Alarm System without a network connection. By no means am I knocking Konnected, I love the system, been running Konnected for almost 2 years now...Just wished the new Pro board was designed to be Independent. I am still thankful they released this Ethernet version, I am not a fan of WiFi devices, for good reason, SECURITY!!! :) I still Highly Recommend this Alarm solution.
I'm planning to make my old ADT wired security system smarter and work with my smartphone using Konnected. I have teenagers in my house that often trigger one or more sensors. Do you think it is possible to get my phone to pop up what a message and tell me which sensor (window, door) was triggered?
I Haven't had that issue... just the blue light no IP address pull... I am using straight POE from a ubiquiti switch I did need to hold down the reboot button for an extended period (7-10 seconds) to get it to reboot and pull an IP
I saw a reboot loop on my device when I first connected everything. Turns out that I was powering the Konnected ONLY through the PoE connection, which was fine for the initial tests and such. However, as soon as I hooked up the siren output board, it caused the reboot loop. The lights would come on, the Ethernet would connect, and the "Alarm" light would blink, then it would all power down and start over again. I suspect it was due to the high power draw of the siren board, as when I disconnected these wires, all was well. After connecting the DC adapter, the problem resolved.
@@intelligencequest Gotcha, i was referring to the icon in the top right at 8:45. It seemed as if that page was specific to konnected, yet there was a ubnt logo
@@networkcrasher hmm interesting not sure where the logo came from, I believe you can integrate motion sensors from Ubiquiti equipment into the the alarm pane in Home Assistant but I am unsure why it would come up specifically in the Konnected integration window

Any way to hook wireless contacts to konected panel? My system has both wired and wireless devices.

I think this sould be possible if your using Home Assistant to run the sensors, it would probably need to be a python script
What did the Konnect pro board sell for and do you have the telephone number to order the parts
I think it was like 200$ or less when pre ordered. I do not have a number for parts

Why does home assistant have a ubiquiti logo on the konnected page?
those are some of the optional integrations that can be added to home assistant just like Synology, ROKU, MQTT

Sand the box area where the panel will be placed, followed by an alcohol wipe. Thank me later.
I would tap screw hole and use pc stand offs. But that just me I’m a stickler for Neatness.
