Enjoying your content! I started racing in November at 49 years old and it’s fun to watch similar level riding. Done 6 races and there have been crashes in 5 of them which is kind of scary, is that normal? The crashes all seem to be in the last lap when everyone is tired and taking risks. I’m in Cat C (Aus) which is probably Cat 4.
Glad you are back, but what kind of crazy race goes through a park with walkers/joggers/baby strollers separated by only a double white line? Never saw that in my racing days.
Chipotle has been going downhill. I got food poisoning there 2 weeks ago and a friend got it earlier this year. Needless to say, I don't go there anymore.
I broke both sides one side twice. Only had one surgery and the plate was bothering me like you said, I got the plate removed and it was such a relief. I rebroke that side again and didn't have surgery and I had less issues but it took 3 months. I think no surgery is better if possible because now both sides are a massive lump of bone, I don't think it will rebreak its all-solid bone, Sometimes Dr's suggest surgery I think for more money and oh 6 weeks instead of 3 months. Good luck man!!
Oh boy do I have thoughts. Supplemental insurance is mandatory if you race bikes (that's what SPOT is). If you race under USAC, get the membership Claudio had. Everyone's "regular" insurance has an out of pocket max that is always high. Looks yours up. You won't like the number. My out of pocket max was $10K so that's what my crash cost me (thank god my bike was OK, because that would also be out of pocket). Don't be me.

Yeah I had a similar experience with spot. It worked to reimburse my 1k deductible (a concussion check cost 1k in the ER which is also crazy) but took forever and was pretty confusing. Stressful for sure. Glad it ultimately worked for you too
yeah spot kinda sucks. I crashed in feb and I'm still going back and forth trying to get that stupid itemized bill form from 1 of the 3 providers. It's worth it though cause the few hundred dollars + hassle can get you thousands back but you also have to just accept that dealing with spot/mutual of omaha is going to become a part-time job
