Acura integra coolant going to reservoir but not back to radiator. Part Two. 7 year update

- My coolant was not going back into my Radiator and i was blowing blue smoke 7 years back at 267,920 miles on my last video. I turkey basted the coolant manually every few days.
7 years and 44,551 miles later here is a quick update. Still basting?
4 door integra are the best tegs.
Use a thicker hose for the resevoir to radiator, that little hose holds air pocket easy
I stumbled on your first Video. And I have the same problem like this on my 05 XB.
Man that's a lot of miles you got there, can't believe that thing still running.
So I’d pressure test your cooling system and see if you have a leak. If your coolant system is low, the coolant won’t return to the radiator. It needs a steady column of fluid in order for the coolant to return. FYI, you should have about a quart or 2 of fluid in your overflow tank after you top off your radiator. Your “full” indicator is usually on the overflow tank. If you had a blown head gasket, usually you’d see white smoke from the exhaust and/or you may see “milky” oil on your dipstick. You could certainly perform a compression test on your cylinders. Based on what I’m hearing and seeing in your video, I don’t think you have a blown head gasket. Your oil rings are a little worn. Keep your oil changed and use a little “Lucas engine oil treatment “ and you’ll be fine!!!!
I swapped my B18b1 our for a low comp B20. The engine was still running when I made the switch. It did test low on two cylinders ( 90s) so it was time for the swap. Of course the swap has come with its own slew of problems. Thanks for the comment
Thats so crazy. I have a 96 chevy 3500 and I just swapped the radiator out yesterday and was burping it yesterday and noticed the same thing. When the engine cools the reservoir is filled with coolant which makes the resivour low. This video magically popped up on my feed. High mile club.
Glad to know Im not the only one!
Have u figured out what happened?
@@sabeehtahir6014 I still don't know. I just kept burping the system and it doesn't do it anymore
It’s a blown gasket my friend. Two main clues for a blown gasket is a small leak by the engine and a discoloration with the smoke.
Damn u really took care of your integra buddy.. u got all of my 4 thumbs up!!
Im putting a JDM B20 engine in right now. bringing it back to its glory days!!
Pressure test the coolant system for leaks or use some combustion in coolant indicator liquid.
Wow, 312k. That’s a trip to the moon and headed back!…and it still won’t tap out! Incredible.
If I had a mechanic willing to help, this car could be running so good. Over time with no major help its starting to take a toll. I've learned how to work on them some but with no garage and rain every day of the year its tough. Im glad your still lurking Bro. Thanks for the comment
@@kidwilson3357 - Still lurkin’! Sorta like my Integra lol. It crossed 200k not long ago, but clearly I’ve got some catching up to do before I’ll even match you. 😂
I feel ya on the garage though, man. There’s only so much that one can do out in the driveway - and that’s if the weather cooperates.
You can install a metal clamp instead of a plastic clamp on the small hose to the expansion tank. The gasket on the radiator cap may not fit the radiator completely, you can tighten the metal ends of the radiator cap a little with pliers.
Wow. I stumbled on your video and now i stumbled into this one finding out you have been turkeybasting this thing for years. That is dedication my man. Any leads what it could be?
It also looks like a bad design because the overflow tank should be higher than the engine then soon as you remove the cap liquid would flow back into the radiator. If you had a blown head gasket, your car would definitely overheat and you would lose coolant over time.
Have a 99 Honda crv with the same issue, minus the smoke. I keep a harbor freight fluid pump next to the expansion tank. I will be testing for head gasket leak with a coolant pressure tester. If the pressure jumps when I rev it, bam, head gasket leak. Much thanks.
I just did a swap and man its been a whole lot more than I bargained for. But.. im slowly learning to be a mechanic lol..
Good luck on your ride. I hopefully wont be turkey basting any longer.
Replace with the correct cap for your vehicle. Coolant only travels one way, from the bottle to the radiator (when the vehicle cools down). You may have another issue, but your cap needs to be replaced
Have tried multiple caps of OEM and no OEM. Made no difference for my vehicle. 23 years of owning the car. cheers
i have same issue, but two gas tests negative for exhaust gas in coolant. mechanic ruled out head gasket.
Do you think it's a vacuum leak somewhere? Have you checked all your hoses and clamps?
@@kidwilson3357 it ended up being a head gasket leak on the exhaust side with a badly warped cylinder head. All fixed now. mechanic said toyotas are more prone.
love this
Change the thermostat
To the original one Needs to open The aftermarket parts don’t do so well on a Honda
I did everything possible ad block engine block water pump radiator hoses radiator cap extension Hope this will help for you
I have OEM Waterpump/Thermo and all that. I need a leak down test/compression test./ Im 99% its headgasket and valve stem seals/piston rings. Id really like to find a good mechanic but i have had problems finding someone to help me rebuild.
am also having the same problem with my toyota wish 2008 model. it doesn't overheat but every time i drive for a distance of about 100km i have to add coolant
I have the same problem with my Subaru Forester: 2.5 xs no leaks.I just replaced everything water pump and pump thermostat clean radiator flush and still have issues with not overheating
Turkey baste time
Man, i have a 94 gsr and i had the same problem, its your head gasket leaking
yea man Im doing a rebuild right now. dropping a B-20 JDM in
How did u fix this?
I swapped engines out and problem fixed. Im pretty sure it was blow head gasket.
Perform a leak down test and a radiator pressure test
Ive been trying to get someone to help me. People just wont make time for me.. been years begging people to help. lol
@@kidwilson3357 i would help you, if i was there, but I am in Greece, good luck..
@kidwilson3357 you can do it the test sits on your rad instead of cap you get it upto temp and watch if colour changes
i'm 99% sure you have a small head gasket leak.
What I think too. Im hoping to finally find someone to help me soon. Thanks for the comment
@@kidwilson3357 currently experiencing the same on my 2014 cx-5 mechanics have tried thermostat, temp sensors etc... definitely a gasket leak
