Can you explain how they get up so fast in the whitewater? Energy from the jump pulling you down + the swell going over the top + reduced buoyancy from all the air... I'd expect it to be incredibly difficult to fight but they pop right up again. Is there a special technique or just powerful swimming?
It's difficult to pinpoint as freestyle swimming the the other day; in the same location, with no waves, I was getting pulled under! Overtime, you get a feeling, like any other sport/activity you grow good at :)

How deep is the water where they are diving?
Fluctuates, about 20-30ft. Shelfs make it shallower on edges

I can only applaud as I would never dare it.

There's a plenty of air in foaming water. Hence, swimming will require more efforts due to the fact that your body will lose buoyancy

This place was never called Queen's bath. Some lunatic gave this treacherous place this name. This place claimed many visitors' lives. It's not a place for royalty. I grew up here and learned to share the wonderful places on Kauai. Enjoy Kauai but leave your attitude home.
