Corvairs are one of those cars that you don't appreciate how good looking they were until many years later. I saw one going down the road the other day and I was surprised at how cool looking, and unique they are.
I'm sorta young getting into Classic cars, the 65' Corvair Monza 110hp of mine, is my literal baby. I love the car and the best thing about people overlooking them, is it's affordable to work on and make Beautiful, I'm hoping to be apart of the either the 2024 or 2025 car shows
Agree...only drove on late 80s as a teen it was a factory Turbo. I was impressed with how it drove, sounded had enough oomph and legroom! Lines on these cars have no bad angles
I wish I still had my 66’ Monza. So many good times during high school. Wasn’t a rocket ship but it still was a blast to drive. Keep telling myself someday I’ll get another.
Back when I was in highschool my friends brother had a CV with a spider engine 4speed. We all admired it. This was in 1969 and it was considered a 💪 muscle car. You just don't see these cars except at get shows like this one. Thanks for the video, keep them coming.
I have two turbo spyders, ones an all original 64, and the other one is a 62 with a 64 drivetrain. They're both white with red interior, one has a white top, the 62, and the 64 has a black top.
Really getting the itch for one of these! Need a practical retirement daily this is it. No coolant leaks, super cool can wrench on em no smog, perfect. Doubt anyone would steal it That 1 of none Yenko is badazz looking. Didnt know these could be had with ac? Would a vintage AC system work if you did some uh, cobblin'?
We had a couple of 64 corvairs. I put glass facts on one of them do that thing sounded great driving through downtown with the exhaust bouncing off the buildings. Had a chance to buy a 66 Monza Spyder with 4 one barrel carburetors it was all decked out for rally racing. It had a bad solenoid on the starter and I couldn't convince my dad that it was a simple fix. That thing even had real wire wheels.
Back in the early 70’s someone in our town put a big v8 in a black Corvair, they tastefully lettered “NADER’S NIGHTMARE “ on the side of the car . How cool is that!
Growing up, our family had a 64 Monza convertible, later on I had a 66 convertible. My Mom worked at a tire store and was given a free set of Michelin radials, it was funny seeing mechanics shake their heads when my five foot and a bit mom tried to tell them the tires weren't flat. ;-D I read about someone successfully mounting a Tornado drive train "behind" the rear seat (notch for a pulley) of a second generation Corvair. Seeing that I thought about a transverse front wheel drive V6, then saw a video of someone using a Fiero drive train. ;-)
I had a friend with a Corvair, that he used for rally racing. He ran radials on the front and wide bias tires on the rear. It handled great. So much for Naders assumptions.

Thanks. It was too fast and short, had to watch it again in slo-mo, with the Ventures music as background. AAaahh. Had a '67 4 door automatic, cloth seats, and am radio; no other options! Switched to 14" wheels and bucket seats, added headers and a small 4bbl holley, dual turbo mufflers and stuff I don't remember now. Used to call those seats neck breakers; no headrests.
My 64 Corvair flipped off the highway at 70 mph on a gentle turn to avoid a truck tire. It did happen. And yes, I had the correct front/rear pressure differential. And, haha, in the glove compartment was Nader's "Unsafe at Any Speed". Great book!!!
I'm surprised that more owners don't replace the fan ass'y with an electric one. The super long fan belt could be shortened thus removing the chance of the belt coming off. Hey, if these fans were available back then, GM would have used them. BTW, glad to see owners placing the spare tires back in the front not worrying about giving up space there. Does anyone worry about actually getting the spare out from the engine compartment if needed. I'd be afraid of dropping it on the air filter housings.
We snuck in! My son and I drove down to see the show, and parked it with the other vairs. There were some beautiful cars, vans, and ramp sides there that day.
You sound like Adam Corolla anyone tell you that? Love the Vair vids gotta browse your channel. Stop complaining about his videos guys they are free, hes putting out the time and effort to do this he doesnt owe anyone dik. Entitlement..
After sitting in one these when I was 9years old with my mother broken down on a main road in Albany NY in rush hour traffic after grocery shopping I don't know why anyone would own one.

AC was offered, and Clarks Corvair offers a modern AC system

Huh, Corvair powered camper at 0:18, those are pretty rare. I think they were called the Ultravan?

If they made a Corvair today I think it would be better looking than the new Corvette.
Learned to drive a 4-speed in a 65 Corvair Monza. Car handled great. Fun car.
Love all the beautiful corvairs. I owned 5 of them. Enjoyed them all.
Reminds me of the times when exhaust fumes came out of the heater vents.
I had a 1965 Corsa with 180 horse turbo. Wish I still had it!
Gr8 video....luv the Corvairs....I have owned several Corvairs over the years....👍

I know the guy that owns the Lakewood! so glad he put the little paper with his name on it.
5:35 I like how he put a set of 68 turn signals from a chrysler product on that. I thought of doing the same thing 33 years ago. A classy upgrade.
Beautiful cars, man i love those thing. Corvair bug doesnt die🤙
these cars are awesome very underrated
Why call it a "V8" show -LITTLE misleading ?

Had a 62 convertible. Drove the hell out of it. It would not roll over! Nader was full of crap

Do you ever see Jay Leno at these shows? He’s a huge Corvair fan.

Ever see Olds 455 Toronado in the back of a Corvair?
Now I really miss my '65 Monza 2 door with stick
Great video,great carx!
I was hoping to see a corvair that was in the Pittsburgh area which had a mid engine 409, was it at this show ?
If they brought out a modernized 66 Monza in full EV - I'd buy it today! If XKE can do it, why can't Chevy???
I've been saying that for decades. I owned 13 Corvairs, & I'd buy a new replica. They owned a universe of their own.
Scott Bussard...I spotted your buggy at 7:22...

The C8 Corvette should have been named the Corvair and the Corvette should have continued as a front engine.
