The outcome is no different if you left early instead of staying at the dubious tavern. You get ambushed while traveling in the night and find that you've lost your money during the fight. Either way, you'll still lose whatever money you had. This is the poverty in England DLC for a returning soldier from France.

Personally I like the England Route more then the others (including not a Hero). You are on the not a Hero DLC Route.

As far as I remember if you dont retreat you get a bolt to the chest and end up in prison!

I’d say it’s good to stock up on liquid death for boss battles and use other oner ones for money or slight advantage in battle.
Deciding to loot is very tempting whenever you fight knight or noble lvl enemies. I personally go for looting knights at the battle of cambrai, the loot sometimes gives real edge for later if they drop stuff like fould chest plate.
(If you don’t start with fould that is ofc)
Also, remember that now in maidenstone you are again a civilian and have to obey the law and unlike when at war you can’t just take certain things free of charge without consequences😊

Yup knights drop very high level loot. that was his mistake.
Also he left the chest without even checking, you can transfer any loot you want from that chest to your inventory before leaving it.
Plus he can get that crossbow string from Bartholomy (butchered the name) shop.

@@ReformistTMand that’s ok, big part of what makes it enjoyable is watching you progress, figure mechanics out and toss a tip or two your way😊
I have also learned much from reading comments under this series.
Even though I had like 80h (now bit over 100) I don’t think I would have figured half of those things out on my own😅
Also quick „test” witch stats matter the most is „survival” game mode. (It is kinda frustrating to do lots of and it is combat only like in we who are about to die so better do it off screen)
That’s how I figured weapon skill first and endurance second gives best investment to survivalability ratio. (And I am by no means telling you to just do that. There are many enjoyable builds in this game and not being a „OP META MAN” (yes I named my character like this once and he was banana boi sitting on 30k of creation points)
Now I roll „handy man” he just started with hunting knife, hunting sword, empty vial, 5 str,5end 1 agi 1const and 25 crafting and crafting related civic talents. He is the most enjoyable character I played in a long time even though he is far from meta and nowhere near op in combat.
I feel that not so meta characters are kinda more fun if you have a vision of the build / roleplay
And silly roleplays are fun, I once did „bling boi” he was character that started at 0 stats with just trinkets that gave the most prestige and 16k gold. He was „crafting is for pesants” and I had a rule to always equip things that gave the most prestige.
