Great End Via Scramble Route The Band from Seathwaite (The Lake District)

Great End is the most northerly mountain in the Scafell chain. From the south it is simply a lump continuing this chain. From the north, however, it appears as an immense mountain, with an imposing north face rising above Sprinkling Tarn. This is a popular location for wild camping, and the north face attracts many climbers.
Just below Sprinkling Tarn Great End may be ascended from The Band (not to be confused with the more famous Band on Bowfell)

Oh my God, John Wayne lives! Ha, bet you had to look twice just in case you thought it was a mirage. What an epic adventure. Stunning scenery and drone footage. It's a big slab of rock is Great End. It's true to say it looks real fell walking country. Made for a great watch. Thanks for posting. Give that super dog Billy a hug from me. What a Rockstar!

Another brilliant vid, Andy and Billy. We met a bloke coming off Bessyboot last week who recommended this route so we'll definitely have a crack at this when we're up in June/July (got back home to Somerset yesterday) Plus a touch of The Wild West up there with the cowboy 😂😂 - The Big Country theme tune srings to mind. Weirdest thing we've seen is a bloke carrying a hod full of bricks on Stybarrow Dodd - he was doing all 214 Wainwrights carrying the hod for charity - great effort. We also saw a bloke on his mountain bike in Dodd Wood, and he had his pet parrot on the handlebars. 😂 ATB Brian and Jill 😊

Fantastic video Marra! Excellent drone footage which so enhances videos such as these. The views going up (from that plateau on the Band) and of the surrounding panorama/vista at the top were sublime! So interesting to see views of the famous peaks in all their glory. You did some proper trekking there - scrambling over rocks, going up steeply/vertically almost with climbing strides. The wall down the valley looked very good too. Certainly one of your best walks/videos - proper mountain walking that!

Aye mate thankfully Billy's a very calm lad now he's a bit older...i can confirm up untill the age of two he was absolutely bonkers couldn't work his own head out so clever he was stupid...then just like that overweight everything clicked and he became The super chilled out ROCK STAR ⭐

Superb video, as always Andy. That looks a really fascinating route up Great End. Even in popular areas of the Lakes, there's always relatively untrodden ground to explore. Good of that choir to get up on the crags to serenade you as you were 'topping out' on the plateau!! ;-)

Yes it is hard work all this filming and yes a great channel Dave has got. Very enjoyable watch to be honest, especially as I have this one to do, so I must remember those two big stones to turn off up to Great End itself. The weather looked great and typically, just when the weather starts to dry up and get really nice I get told I have borderline pneumonia after a week in bed and having missing it all - such is life! Ive watched a few videos of routes up the band which are very confusing route wise but with all the info you provide on your route it gives folk a chance to follow. Love the cowboy on Esk Hause. @@RockStar67 Cheers Andy. Weve just got back from a weekend near Pwllheli. We did a hike up Moel Hebog. Only a 6 mile circular but a very steep up and down. Superb views from the top on a beautiful day
There was no cowboy when I was there in March! It was clagged in with knee-deep snow on The Band which made for a very slow descent - as you said, not recommended in poor conditions.

Great video. This route is easily the best route upto Great End.
By the way, do you know about the Victorian horse teather near the small wind shelter below Great End close by the path going towards Scafell pike.
It's a fantastic route up Great End isn't it mate...thanks for the info I didn't kniw that so I'll have to look out for it my friend always sends me good knowledge regarding stuff like that...he told me They used to tie up the packhorses in Calf cove below Great End when escorting Victorians on to Sca Fell...all very interesting 😊👍🏻
