I've never liked the depiction of Gruumsh as a cyclops with a single central eye because his lore is that his left eye was stricken from his head, so I feel he should be depicted as having his right eye there and either some kind of covering over where the left eye should be or an obvious wound which a mortal orc would proudly wear after surviving such a wound and would probably do in emulation of him if he was more commonly depicted like that. And I forget which source book I first saw it in and how old in D&D lore they are, but in 3rd Edition, there was a class for orcs and potentially half-orcs called the Eyes of Gruumsh who ritualistically put out their right eye to "see what Gruumsh cannot." Kind of hard to justify that if he's a cyclops. Though I guess it could be said that the blow Corellon struck to put out his eye was so mighty that it actually rearranged Gruumsh's face some, but that would require the blow coming from the right to push that eye to the center and somehow force the left eye out of his head and that just doesn't make any sense. Not to me, anyway.
@@itslegendlore And fair play to them for wanting the god they worship to be as much like them as possible so they can better emulate him. But as he is the primary god of the orcs and orcs have two eyes barring any injuries that would cost them one, I describe him as having an obvious wound where his left eye should be because again, how he lost it is part of his lore.
I once homebrewed a Warlock subclass with Gruumsh as a patron: “Pact of the Orcish”. Imagine a player making a Pact of the Blade with Gruumsh, Luthic, or Yurtus; gaining the power of a Horde of Orcs and natural magic.
Congrats for the 10k!! The BBEG of my campaign is a Gruumsh follower, except he was once a normal warrior who was nearly killed, the injury leaving him with only one eye. In between life and death Gruumsh offered him a chance to come back, which he took, and is now going to be stomping across the world, building an army in his wake. And his challenge to the PCs is “I’m coming for you, be ready by the time I get there, and let’s make this a legendary war”
I LOVE this video! I have always had a soft spot for Orcs, and I really like the Odin approach to Gruumsh. I have a Half Orc who comes from a tribe of Orcs who believe in a very similar philosophy to that of the Odin approach of Gruumsh and believe that Lolth started the Orc/Elf war by manipulating Gruumsh. Seeing this video made my day, keep it up!
Gruumsh was a Lawful Evil god before 3e, when orcs were changed to Chaotic Evil. All the gods in his divine family also were LE. Their characterisation didn't really change.
Just gotta say this video cant come at a better time as I use grumsh as an evil god antagonist in my current campaign. Dude keep up the good work I love these your videos ❤
"Sorry Orc-Friend, Talos is the true war god. First to five kills will prove this" said from the Human Barbarian who can't count to four.
Can Orcs count to four? If not, this could escalate really quickly.
@@gaidencastro9706 "I got two fours!"

Agreed cyclops gruumsh only made sense for maybe a small group of cyclops who worshiped him

Thats super awesome! and thank you so much!
I assume they were lawful evil to contrast Correllon, who was chaotic?
As I can remember, Grrumsh was chaotic too.

Comment for the algorithm
16:54 I think the College of Blades would also be suitable for Gruumsh. Storm Sorcerer would also fit well under the "one-eyed".
@@Nathan_Payne oh damn I forgot about Storm Sorcerer XD
@@itslegendlore No big deal. Many people want to forget this useless crap.)))
@@itslegendlore Well, yes. I'm still waiting for the video about Amaunator.
Love your ideas for gruumsh. Could you do videos on your campaigns please 🙏?
@@addisonhithe2119 I plan to do more videos regarding my campaigns :)
Congratz🎉❤
Just subbed. Loved the video, keep it coming
New vid
Let's Go!!!
If I am being generous to an Orc or Half-Orc PC, I portray Gruumsh as a more active version of Crom from Conan
I can see that being cool :)
One of the funnier things I find about Gruumsh is the fact that he's being c*cked by Grumbar, the Faerunian Primordial Deity of Earth.
lmao true true xD
