Shadowrun SNES Speedrun, pt 1

- This is my practice run through the SNES Shadowrun, part 1. It has more mistakes than I'd accept in a real run; but it shows how I plan to do the deed.
The only goal here is to get to the Caryard as fast as possible. I choose the Sniper over the monorail station as the best place to harvest cash; you'll notice if you're quick that I piss away a sniper encounter. I was a bit cheesed.
When i played this game for the first time,i was so stunned by the ambiance and the dark atmosphere.the sountrack was great too. i remember my cousin was scared by the red eyes dog.lol
Man I loved this game! Played the hell out of it. The music, the story, the setting, the gameplay: verything was so great. It's a crime that it didn't sell better.
Thanks for posting this video! I loved this game when I was growing up, I am almost 33 and I still love it. I always wished they'd make a sequel or something, but Data East wasn't down for it I guess...
Nothing like staying up all night saving your Nuyen to get that Enfield "Assault Cannon"- those guys got fragged faster than you can say "credstick"
This game is straight up genius.. it was the best SNES game I've ever played.
This game was so ahead of its time its ridiculous, a all time Favorite Cult Classic!
This game was absolutely GREAT!! I remember being sick 1 summer and played this for countless hours......Being stuck for days was frustrating but it always payed off.................
Really amazing that a game like this came out for SNES. I was in love with the Cyberpunk-RPG thing and didn't even know it.
One of my favorite games ever. Also had one of the coolest soundtracks.
Love this game and the Genesis and 360 versions. All different, all excellent.
Great game! Played it for hours on end!
WE WANT A GOOD REMAKE OF THIS OMFG THIS IS THE BEST I"VE PLAYED IT LIKE 12 TIMES
one of my favorite video games of all time seriously, :) this game was way ahead of its time,
Seriously such an awesome storyline, both this one and genesis.
I came here because i remember this game, and this is one of the best snes games lol.
I wish bethesda would make a shadowrun game. Would be awesome.
i love this game. its mechanics are not exactly the paper & pen shadowrun, but it catches the mood perfectly. it's just a bloody great game.
already played it through four times, and i bet i'll beat it another two times before i rip.
Damn, this game ruled!!! It's too fun...Even the music is awesome
the game was rare in 1993 , best game ,still play it .class of its own
I bought Deus Ex HR today thunking of the fun I had as a kid with Shadowrun, played it so so much it was awesome. I remember blowing up zombies in the graveyard for hours early on to level up
THIS GAME IS AWESOME
Story: 10/10
Music: 10/10
Ambiance : 10/10
Characters: 10/10
Gameplay: 9/10
lol
Nice run, BTW
You just have to love a game that pits you against army commandos occupying high rise office buildings. I had no clue what i was doing when i first tried it, then i got a little older and tried it again. Needless to say, drakes head is mounted on my wall now.
totaly, one of the best games of all time
oh the memories of the game
I still have this game for the SNES! Awesome!
I still play it too. The game had a sense of captivating seediness, from the visuals down to the music.
Shadowrun on the SNES is the most overlooked game of all time. It's a shame that a sequel is never made
Best Fin' A game in the world!!!
Definitely one of my all time favorite RPGs and vdieogame soundtracks.
really loved the soundtrack of this one
The only RPG on Snes i ever owned. Great game. Just a few days back started on Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall. Had to wait 20 years for something close to a sequel (well t least Jake Armitage is in Returns) Funny when i think about it, even if i didnt yet realise it then, i already had a preference for non japanese rpgs. I was gonna say preference for western RPGs but how west is Australia? It isnt (this is an australian game). Btw outside of the Genesis one there is also a megacd Shadowrun game. And it's manga style, made for japanese market, and its set in japan where in the shadowrun universe they keep out any metahumans...so its shadowrun without elves, dwarves orks or trolls and manga style...so in short, it's complete bullshit.
BEST SNES GAME RIGHT HERE!
By far the best game for the SNES.
This game helped me become more streetwise. Always check dead people for crude leather jackets and pick up dog collars if they fall off.
Used to love playing this game, it was one of the best for snes :-)
I got this when it came out on my 15th birthday Way ahead of its time..
LOVED this game as a teenager. Wish it would come to VC
Such an awesome game remember trying to get all my friends to play this. Still love the music lol... Makes me want to break out the SNES.
lol i love the combat music, damn this game was awesome
Speedrun of Shadowrun? Damn. That sounds pretty ambitious!
yeah man i remember playings this game when i was 11 or 12 and it was unlike any other game, on my top 10 list of all time from my childhood
Loved this on dos box!
This game was made in Melbourne, Australia... Pretty rare thing back then as not that many games come from Australia in those days. If I had one wish, it would be that they made a full fledged anime of this game with its awesome storyline, to the calibre of something like Akira. Heh... Guess I will keep dreaming, but just think of how mind blowing it would be.
This game had some rockin' tunes
The game doesn't need a reboot. It was perfect how it was.
Great game - I love it.
CLASSIC!! EVERGREEN!!! Now Shadowrun Returns can come. Ah yes.. There are some videos from a guy who will use that tool to reboot shadowrun. So we will get to play this classic game with the Shadowrun Returns Engine har har har!!!!
Holy shit I cant believe a game like this existed on the SNES..
I have to back the kickstarter now.
@bitofbat It was hella rare! I always wanted to play it after seeing it in Nintendo Power but no stores or even rental places carried it. Didn't get to play this until 2001, and it still held up.
F*ck yeah... this is where the action is... and a good reboot of this game would be worth the money
@LykanKhan Agreed. There needs to be a good cyberpunk RPG like this for the current generation of games.
lol i remember it taking me like 5 days to get to the caryard when i was a kid. i ran into so many deadends, it seemed so hard back then. this was a scary-ass game for a young kid like myself might i add ahah.
This games storyline (Shadowrun) + Fallout 3/New Vegas Game Engine = Best Game ever made
everything shadowrun is a cult classic.
Even with stutter step micro the first thug couldn't kill the player. Player OP.
The genesis version is very close to the original pen & paper system (which I played), but somehow its a bit of kind unispired with its "construction kit" random levels.... I liked this version more.
i love that game in my youth
i loved this game, and also the fallout series for PC (came later). something about this genre of game that intrigues me, and the role playing/fighting styles.
shadowgate was awesome as well.
This game looks really, really cool. I would quite like to add it to my collection.
The kickstarter project is not related to this game. Shadowrun for the SNES was developed by Beam Software, a video game developer from Australia. The guy running the kickstarter campaign is the original creator of the tabletop(dungeons&dragons-type) shadowrun game. They're planning to create a turn-based PC/tablet game. So it won't have the gameplay of this game. I'm fairly sure that's what they were saying anyway. I wish someone would remake Shadowrun with this kind of gameplay though.
Id recommend the reboot of this Shadowrun Returns. The base game is good but the expansion Dragonfall is absolutely great. I give it my highest recommendation.
Yeah I can see others are checking it out too- the kickstarter project been launched so peeps wanting a reboot should check it out
I agree with everything you typed. This game stuck very close to the actual Shadowrun setting from the tabletop RPG.
Oh I did not mean that as a negative or anything, it was made for those that are watching that still play it :D
Soz.
They really need to come out with one of these games again. Not the 1st person shooter either, but a RPG.
It was better than good. I had just started reading the books (Mysteries of Power trilogy I think it was called) and a mate lent this to me.
I played it to death. Great story, great combat system, great graphics and the music score for this game was just great.
PS: Vampires hate strobe lights....that took me ages to figure out.
0:56 Dhalsim meets Dennis Bergkamp 😁
Wizkids apparently still exists as an entity and while they hold the copyrights, they don't produce games. Catalyst Game Labs now publishes Shadowrun. In fact, as of a few days ago, I'm now officially a freelance writer for SR.
Nice job!
yes, it is, is called "Shadowrun" too and it has the same universe, it was developed by the same people and all, sadly
i wish they make a exact remake of the original old school games (snes, genesis) with today's graphics and all the new stuff
I think I missed out something not
playing this game those days! =(
got dang snipers!
They should make this game into an FPS, like Halo.
Man, that would be cool to have a version of this game that's playable today.
The creator of Shadowrun has a Kickstarter up for it now! :D A new PC/MAC/Linux one. Check it out if you like.
i really like shadowrun 360 i am one of the best players in it and i am kinda happy that they made shadowrun 360. I never played snes but i understand that would really be fun if i played
it already is. The developers started a kickstarter account so GO AND DONATE!
great game. the morgue part always scared me
awesome slap bass soundtrack.
I remember first playing this as a child. I had no idea what to do, once I grabbed the pistol, I just shot at random people. I later played it many years later, and I needed a walkthrough on where to go. =[
@TheEschwank02 lol true
I think the "action RPG" came around the same time as strictly turn-based, although the latter I prefer myself immensely over the action sibling. Zelda and Gauntlet are both early action RPGs that came out right around my beloved Final Fantasy 1 or Dragon Warrior 1's time. I could never get into Shadowrun and its ilk -- like Maniac Mansion in a way, that removed the ability to take as long as you wanted to make a decision. I played demos for X-com, Fallout, Ultima, Diablo, The Immortal..
DAT MUSIC
omg . . . its on youtube!!!! i9 played this when i was maybe 14 orso . . 30 now . . . whatever i have to do i want this game back!!!!!! does anyone still have it ???
I've been hoping for such a collaboration for years. Rockstar + FaSa, that is. It seems like if they could take the formula and playability from the GTA series and incorporate the Shadowrun terminology and mythology to fill out all the blanks, it would be PURE WIN. It seems highly unlikely this will ever happen tho.
Shadowrun for snes was great fun.
I have absolutely no idea why they wasted the Shadowrun franchise's potential by making that x 360 pile.
@LykanKhan it should be mixed with the genesis version,i think
@LykanKhan What I'm trying to say is that the Fallout 3 gameplay doesn't fit into the Shadowrun world. The Daggerfall gameplay would be more true to the tabletop origins (it actually has saving rolls and all that :D)
SHADOW RUN GETTING A REBOOT!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!
*hugs KykanKhan* YOU GOT IT BRO ! BETHESDA is the team !. and make it rated 18 RRR ( sex . drugs . sick close combat weapons . ) i played this game when i was like 10 and i loved it .
i was always too scared to play this game through
well for now the closest thing to a new Shadowrun game we have is a rumor a game devolper named Smith & Tinker holds the license for a Shadowrun game that may come in production, one of the main designers of the pen and paper rpg works at Smith & Tinker and so there are high hopes if the game comes to fruit it will be much more true to Shadowrun then Microsoft attempt with there arena style fps.
I love this game... when this first came out and I bought it I was like.. this looks like it sucks but when I started playing I couldn`t stop playing it. Does anyone know if they`re comming out with a new Shadowrun RPG for the 360?
@Aldiggy2000 The genesis shadowrun wasn't too bad. had a great story.
@DarkToasty07
I'd like to see a brand new Shadowrun game that sticks to canon. They could either make it a true sequel to the SNES version or start another story. Anything, so long as they stay within continuity and not make it a first person shooter.
@dragonheadofthewest You need the keyword Hire and and use it on Shadowrunners.
That wouldn't be Jake Armitage, would it? Waking up in a morgue freezer and all... Did this game suffer from too little ram... Cleared out rooms respawning new baddies etc? The other old Shadowrun game I have only played on DOS box had that issue, made it a bit tricky and frustrating in places.
Nah that was a good thing having the baddies respawn like that, it made grinding alot easier/possible, that way if you put your work/time into the game it would pay off by making the game easier.
I loved everything from this game. Dark, creepy, almost for adults. i thought it was hard when i played it back at 14. Its by far my best RPG on the SNES, even Chrono trigger was good, cyberpunk is more my style. I also loved the Genesis version, which was more complex with the upgrades and the edgy matrix runs. But they dont release those games anymore. NOPE. all about stupid shooters which are all the same and lame 17th generation sports game that still look the same. Hail Shadowrun.
If they wanted to update to modern sensibilities, the currency should be nuyuan instead of nuyen.
Good luck on getting FASA involved. That company went kauput in 2001.
hell yeah
this is my favourite rpg in snes, i love that cyber punk style, the music was just awesome, the storyline was so deep for it's time, sadly they turned it in a shitty fps
i beat this game back in 1996 that was hard as hell
is this affliated to the table top game? (ive never played it, just heard it has intresting features)... heck ive never played table top games at all (kinda worrying that i feel bad about that)
Wizkids is an unrelated company to WotC. WotC has never touched Shadowrun as a property. Of course, Wizkids is now gone, but SR lives on. I MUCH prefer the 4th edition rules.
