Thank you for this video. I recently got a powerchair and transfer into it via a ceiling lift. I was concerned about my feet not getting on the foot plate during the transfer, but I see that you put them on the foot plate once you get situated on the seat (hope this makes sense, lol). I always feel like I'm going to fall out of the chair. I have to use the tilt function more when transferring. Take care.
I use tilt also. I tilt it all the way down to make the transfer from seat to seat easier and then I feel like you...about to fall out forward! So I try to get my other arm back down to help with side to side balance (don’t want to fall out the side either!) and then just use my tilt to get me back instead of trying to get their myself.
Nice, I'm expecting to be a somewhat of a dual mobility user in the not so distant future. I find the powerchair quite supportive in many ways, namely when doing transfers. Though Imma have to learn a lot once I start the manual wheelchair process.
ROHO has hybrid cushions...the Nexus Spirit...which is a foam in the front and air cells in the back. I'm surprised your OT didn't know that. Actually, if you are feeling wobbly, you should have your sit bones/pelvis checked to make sure they are level and your pelvis, not tilted...and should have a special molded cushion.
My insurance will only pay for one. My hips are so unstable that the Ride cushion has really helped, in my manual. My high profile ROHO was what I had before and I just leave it in my power chair so I don’t have to switch cushions all the time. My hips don’t hurt as bad in my power chair because I can adjust all day like they did in my manual. It was a decision between the hybrid or the Ride and I was sort of tired of checking air pressure all the time! When I get a new chair and cushion, I will move the Ride to my power chair.
When my spasms get really intense (mostly when laying on my back) they do hurt very bad like lightning bolt pain and a bad Charlie horse combined. The ones like in this video don’t hurt too bad. The pain they cause is they make the pins and needles and the buzzing amp up for just a few minutes after but then it calms down once my legs calm down. There was once in this video that the spasm caused sort of an ice pick feeling in my right leg and you can see me trying to rub that pain out. That hurts when it does that, but somehow running the ice pick section seems to help me.
@@aliciareagan1voice It is good that rubbing worked for you during that episode. When your legs are not in spasm how much control or sensation do you get?
@@aliciareagan1voice oh yes I understand. Yeah you should definitely get it adjusted so you can stand daily at least 30mins. It would make big positive impact for sure
Great video. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for showing how to get into the chair.

Your legs just go crazy sometimes it seems. Does it physically hurt when it happens?

@@downwardspiral4297 I have no voluntary control or normal sensation in my legs.
@@aliciareagan1voice I get spasms as well. They have been mostly in the morning when I am lying in bed and wake up.
Do you have any standing device?
Yes, I have a standing frame.
@@aliciareagan1voice cool! Do you use it daily and does it help for your spasms?
@@mikestevens7530 no, I don’t but I should. It needs adjusted or something because it really hurts my back after just a couple of minutes.
@@mikestevens7530 I do not use it daily. I should! :) It probably would help stretch my legs which would probably help my spasms.
