How to Read the Bible Without Feeling Overwhelmed
Have you ever opened your Bible and thought, “This is too much. I don’t even know where to start”? Maybe you’ve tried a reading plan, but you’re already behind, or perhaps reading Scripture feels more like a chore than a source of life. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
In this episode of Beyond Brokenness, Alicia Reagan shares her personal journey of reconnecting with the Bible after her spinal cord injury in 2009 left her feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained. From feeling overwhelmed by the weight of Scripture to discovering the freedom of reading one verse at a time, Alicia offers practical tips and heartfelt encouragement for anyone struggling to engage with God’s Word.
You'll hear relatable stories and learn how to approach the Bible not as a burden, but as a lifeline. Whether you’re new to faith or just in a dry season, this episode will remind you that you don’t need to master the Bible-you just need to meet God in it.

I had a question asked about transferring over a side guard, or how to get your head down low enough to slide. When you are mega tired and no more in your, or weak upper body, it is about technique - not strength. I decided to answer this question by video last while both super tired and super weak.

Alicia, where have you been...it’s been years. Do you still have the rue channel?
Hey friend!! I have been rebuilding my life after a divorce and huge life changes! I merged my Rue channel into this one, and I will totally STILL do the disability conversations and videos but it will be its own playlist now, and I am merging this with my new ministry and we will talk about that stuff to. Check out my website: www.aliciareagan.com and let me know what you think. I just finished my Master's Degree in Biblical Counseling and my heart is to help minister those who suffer physically, emotionally and/or spiritually. Thank you for keeping up with me my friend!
I'm excited to watch, listen, and learn how God's working in these!❤ yayyy
Thank you Ashley!! You are an encouragement and I pray I can be to you also!
I'm a man only 125lbs and I have a quad belly, my spinal cord injury c5.
I can’t stand how people like you can comepletely twist something like this. It’s not your choice it was his choice nowhere in this movie did they say people in your community are burdens and all want to commit suicide you found happiness he couldn’t and didn’t want to live that way
i am so sorry about the people in these comments talking down to you and pretending this movie isn't ableist garbage.
@@meowntown69 truth!! Two things: 1. At the end of the day…ANYONE desiring to end their own lives for any reason is a mental health issue - not a disability issue. And let’s get them the help they need to not want life to end! 2. I have watched people with ALS (probably one of the most torturous, incapacitating diseases that leave your body decimated so a good example) live their lives until the last moment desperately fighting for changes and research and literally give their last machine assisted breaths to bettering the hand that was dealt to them. Maybe if my entire life had been nothing but easy, I am giving up because I don’t think I am capable of hard. But let life teach us! We ARE capable and can do much more with severe limitations than we ever thought. Change your game. Don’t end your life. And for the sake of every human…don’t support the sappy story of life is bad so I am choosing to check out. I stand by my review. Not out of a lack of compassion or empathy but out of a posture of “we must not support your perverted version of yourself!” It is NOT true!! Every human…every shape, size, color and ability has value to society. Society doesn’t determine that value. We do. So Will needs an attitude change. Not a death sentence.
Iv been a quadriplegic for nearly 25 years now and quad belly has been an issue from almost day 1 of my injury. When I was first able to get up out of bed and into my first wheelchair I had thought I put on a few pounds from being in bed so long until i noticed my stomach was getting bigger and bigger rapidly and my weight had barely climbed at all. Went back for a monthly check up and asked why my stomach now looked like I went ham at every buffet in town and that’s when they told me about quad gut or para belly. After living with it for so long Iv never really found much to help with it, 10 extra pounds looks like 30 pounds when your stomach muscles are gone. I found that hiding it behind a binder is the only way to hide it in public . I was just unlucky because I always see quad bellies that are so little and I wound up with a basketball for a lap.I just learned to except it and it makes for a great arm rest 😂.
😂😂love the acceptance!
Thank you. I see one on craigslist and wanted to know if this would be good for my daughter. I think she'd need laterals. Her trunk control is not perfect. Thank you so much.
You are very welcome! I’m glad it helped!

I appreciate you so much… I’m a T12-L4 wrecked guy but you often touch on things that help me. I can (barely stand/walk short distance) it’s no longer anything but a struggling mess of what seems to be declining. Your video on spasms was comments off… That was unthinkably brave of you… It helps others (especially me), grasp what we don’t understand yet. My legs and even up into my abdomen now does this, sometimes wit no warning and always if I try and stand up and they sometimes become so violent I fall. Its sort of new for me, it’s not a actually painful, but not any way pleasant I’m so stubborn and still dealing with the mayhem of problems caused by me being crushed in a rollover accident I don’t have complete sever but just a mass of breaks and many lesions and tears in my spinal cord and a badly damaged T12 and L2 The unthinkable pain finally turned pretty much numb and then the seizures started? I guess that’s a decent trade off. Surgery was an option but everything got pushed off so long that there probably won’t be enough gain to justify multiple surgeries I was told a few days ago, the doctor no longer has much hope in long term improvement. Its simply PT AND PAIN MANAGEMENT to help me remain in self care (and that’s my now reduced goal) My hopes kind of got crushed but once I found out it was a mass of damage, I could tell the outcome was probably already going to be not so great. Doctors explain a lot, but people who experience this stuff become my greatest asset, so I just wanted to say THANK YOU ! Be safe Chance
yeah, that's a good review but, what color is your bugatti?

@@morgancalvi6675 I don’t know how I missed this comment! I’m sorry! I have always been a C5-C7 diagnostically and even sensation wise. But…function wise and strength wise, I functioned like a para. Until…I sprained my neck playing with my son about 3 years ago, and I went to a chiropractor and he hurt me worse and I went straight to the ER. That caused more swelling I guess because I immediately got very weak in my arms (consistent with the C level) and have just gotten a little weaker each year. I go to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta now that I live in GA and they told me that I have been that level, but as you age and overuse and even re-injure original damage areas that you do get weaker because the nerve signals that were always weaker as an incomplete tap out.
