    Just stared the video, but I wanna say it’s kinda important to understand who Normal Rockwell is to understand what she’s getting at with the title, or at least what Norman Rockwell means in American culture. Lana is all about exploring the darkness, depravity, and despair underlying the bright & shiny “American Dream”. Norman Rockwell was a painter in the mid 1900s whose style visually captured and conveyed classic, conservative, apple pie, American life and sensibilities. Quirky, charming, and just slightly evocative. A safe conversation-starter for your quarterly BBQs and cocktail parties with the neighbors. This is another angle on Lana’s classic character of the self-aware, self-destructive American Girl.
    Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. I’m drunk in the bathroom bleaching my hair.

      It’s funny, everyone i saw react thinks he’s some dude she is with 😂 even though it makes no sense in the lyrics of Venice Bitch for example, and why would she call her love interest by first and last name 😂 Anyway, the first thing I did before listening to this album i googled Norman Rockwell because I knew it had to have some meaning with Lana. And in one interview she even says how she came up with the name. Something like that she was thinking about the world as it is today and then she tought “What would Norman f***ing Rockwell think about all this..”

    • @mandoz353
      @mandoz353 2 роки тому +5

      While yes this is all true, I think some fans can simplify what Lana is trying to do with her art to simply just elaborate on the American dream and while she does comment on those topics from time to time i feel like it’s reductive to just make it seem like Lana wants to be portrayed as this ‘destructive self aware all American girl’. Lana wrote Born to Die in London, she really started her career in Europe. I just feel like 10 years into her music we should be getting past the surface level stuff. You missed the most important part in why she chose to title the record NFR, it’s because she was wondering what he would think of the state of America now in present day and the chaos the U.S. is going through when his art was all about being cutesy and happy.

      LDR is the LED Zeppelin of singer/songwriters. I wouldn't put her genuine influence against those who added the Lana to their own style and made it better. I'm sure she doesn't mind.

    You should react to an album of the Carpenters. Brilliant songwriting and arrangement by Richard and the best voice ever by Karen.

    Taylor is pop. She started off playing country, where she honed her writing. She went where the money is...pop. cuz.. quote.. pop is easy to write. Why do you think she has a closet full of Grammys and Lana has none? If Lana was pop she would have a mansion full of Grammys. Lana is her own genre... throwback lounge. I wrote that.
