Once again, thanks! Opened up my second LG V20, only to find absolutely no thermal paste had been applied during manufacture. Thermal pad now in place.
Thanks so much for the guide! Just replaced my jack and thermal paste using this. Just as a warning for everyone, if you have a normal H990DS, there is a screw under the "warranty void if broken" sticker that I didn't see at first.

I could be wrong But if I'm correct, you used artic silver as your thermal paste, right? Firstly, you used too much paste which might end up counter productive Secondly, you applying too much might cause the extras to spread to all sides and touching sensitive components causing shirt circuit because artic silver is a metal based compound thermal paste and it can conduct electricity
He was watching the Verge PC $2,000 gaming pc build guide! You put on a little paste then you spread it over the chip with a credit card to have a THIN layer! If it isn't even you are only making contact with a tiny spot. You just put paste EVERYWHERE!

Just got the Arctic silver 5 thermal paste today. As someone who has never taken their V20 apart before, this video was extremely easy to follow. :) I hope my V20 stays cool temperature wise on Resurrection Remix Oreo.
That's fine, just make sure you get an iFixIt kit or thoroughly watch instructions on how to repair that phone. It has a solid back panel if I remember correctly.
Bro, U need to understand what type of cooling system is on your phone....u can't just put it, u have to identify first...is it liquid cooling?? or just an ordinary type of cooling....Just asking 😀😀
No and yes the disassembly is infinitely more difficult as the note 9 is literally glued together and not meant for disassembly you will likely break it to get to the heat pipe in it to do this.
Thinking about doing this myself. Just a few questions. How is the performance? Are games running smoother? I think you applied a generous amount of thermal paste, any issues? Were you able to tell a noticeable difference in performance besides games? Thanks for the video
Sorry for taking so long to respond but yes. They run smoother and more consistently. And I did run into a problem while doing another repare. The copper sheet covering the CPU came off because the paste acted as a glue.
I never actually measured any benchmarks before or after but the experience and performance in games greatly improved. Also I know that was my mistake.
My V20 H910 only hás 6 months of use. After I update to Oreo the performance gets bad and the phone gots hot. I installed the Nougat again but the problem contínuos. On AnTuTu when battery is less of 70% gives only 90000 to 120000. When is 100 charge and cold gives 148000. If I change the termal past Will solve my problem?
That's not the case here. I just did the same mod, and the surfaces doesn't go completely flat against each other. Had to use 3x more amount of what i use on pc builds.
Less heat means less resistance for the cpu, so it gets less power hungry. So the battery will last longer. But in the case of mobile cpu, its not that much noticable... U will only see faster performance in longer periods of time....
One question...does that phone u thermal pasted it survives till now? I'm just curious cause that is a lot of thermal paste been put there... Soo is it ok? I mean the phone?
Before I did thermal paste I scored about 137k in antutu, after thermal paste, only 121k...maybe the thermal paste needs curing time though, I used Cryorig H7 thermal paste I had left over from my gaming pc. Thank you. It is nontheless recommended to take out the battery during disassembly. It is safer.
I tried this. It works. Thank you so much !
Antutu score 149k (during charging) after replacing thermal paste. Before replacement : 112k antutu score
Is it working until now?

There's always a screw under a sticker that says 'warranty void if broken' Lol. That's why there is a sticker warning there in the first place. Lol

How's your v20 temperature now? Before and after result pls
I guess ur phone didn't survive the experiment??
What CPU temperatures did you get with this. Just tried it and my CPU is running too hot
I did this and my phone definitely feels faster now
Thanks, bro.
How did you clean the old paste?
this is bad
clean the metal plate then put thermal paste
you did it in worst way :)

always use gloves as static electricity will fry your motherboard, also before reinstalling the motherboard make sure you remove the old thermal paste
Don't use gloves; use a anti-static wrist strap and connect it to a grounded piece of metal.
