I noticed that many LG OLED buyers have one of these problems (the TV no longer turns on, the red LED light no longer lights on), and in some cases, the appearance of black dots on the upper and lower edges of the OLED panel. The power board fails, the processing part (main board) fails (due to a processor that is not properly cooled)... I experienced these problems too ( I have a 65CX model) - some during warranty, others almost immediately after the warranty period expired. It's not normal for a failure rate to be so high for such an expensive TV after one to three years of use. A class action lawsuit should be filed to force LG to acknowledge their major quality problems and fix them at their own expense.
It may happen if enough people have issues. There was a big class action lawsuit against Samsung TVs around 2010 because they had bad capacitors on the power supply board that would fail prematurely causing the TVs to constantly turn off and back on until unplugged.
I have the same fault. Here in Argentina, I only had a one-year warranty. A month after it expired, I had red circles with horizontal lines; afterward, the television went out.
My CX 65 inch OLED did the same this morning. No power. Reddit and UA-cam seem to be full of CX failures at the 3 year mark. Let's hope LG does something about it.
I don't know if they will but I wish that companies were held at higher standards for how long their products work. I feel like 5 year manufacturer warranty should be the bare minimum. Yeah it will increase the cost of the TVs upfront, but in the long term it actually will cost less since you won't need to replace your TV as often.
Same issue. I had where it would spaz and turn off when it overheated. I added fans like some videos had suggested to cool it down and that worked for a few weeks until today when it just wont even turn on anymore.
I called lg about mine and they just outright denied any responsibility and transfered me to a local repair tech. I'll probably just take it apart myself and send thr board off for resoldering after seeing this.
Thanks for the great video. I have the same issue and I got a new motherboard as a replacement, I saw the ceramic thermal pad that you put behind the processor and I wanted to buy it but couldn’t find the same thickness after I did some research. May you share where could I get the same thickness as the one in the video. Thank you.
Thank you for the video! Is there any concern with the thermal pad on the back of the main board conducting heat into the OLED panel itself and damaging it with a hotspot? I'm not sure how close the frame behind the mainboard is to the panel.
That is a very valid concern, not something I honestly thought of. Thank you for bringing that up. I guess I don't know for sure but I would just as a matter of opinion believe that it's probably okay and not something to be worried about but in the end wouldn't know for sure until I ran this for several years and saw long term affects or lack of effects.
That actually is probably still a mainboard failure. If you remove the mainboard and take a look at the back of it, do you see a brown spot on the back where the processor is? If so it means the processor overheated and burnt out. We sell upgraded replacement mainboards if this is the case.
That thermal pad is really tall, where did you get it? Can't find it. Thanks for the video by the way! Mine is still working but the thermal paste replacement should be good for it anyway
I believe this model of TV was recalled in other countries for overheating. Just not yet recalled in the USA. My 55' CX had the same problem and it was a defective dried up and crusty thermal pad, between the CPU and vapor chamber, that was the point of failure. 'Causing an overheating shutdown.
Would it be useful, when buying a new TV set, to add proper extra thermal pads on specific components such as processors and microcontrollers, graphics chipsets (GPUs), power supply modules (MOSFETs, voltage regulators, etc.), memory (RAM), for example, if there weren't any, just to preserve in the longer term? What's your opinion?
Yes and no. I think it depends on the manufacturing company. For example that thermal pad we add on the back of the mainboard, is something that Sony always does on their high-end XR series TV sets. Because of that it is very rare to see a processor fail in a Sony TV. However, we do see issues with the eMMC chips they use which are made by Samsung a lot of the time (maybe sabotage lol). So for Sony TVs, it's already done and also because we rarely see processor failures even if it wasn't done I would say there is no need. Maybe because most of their sets have 2 processors instead of 1 processor handling everything. For LG sets we do often see processors fail and they never have that thermal pad below to help dissipate heat. So for an LG set I would advise adding a thermal pad below the mainboard yes for sure worth it. If they have 2 processors one being a GPU then both should get that extra thermal pad yes. The UF series was one that very much needed that. Vizio has been adding those thermal pads for their TV sets, but they still also have lots of processor failures. I don't know why that is although I do have a hunch that is based purely in speculation so I won't share it. For those, realistically having a fan in there would be the best way to upgrade it although that is more advanced for sure. I do know that the next iteration that LG made for the next years TV sets LG added a copper plate between the CPU and the heatsink to try and have better heat transfer between the die of the CPU and the heatsink.
On the vapor chamber. How did you remove the blue plastic parts supported by a spring? First time messing around with a tv but I have tinkered with pcs in the past. I have just never seen those blue plastic pieces so I can lift the chamber and apply a fresh set of thermal paste.
I was able to take apart the motherboard and squeeze the blue plastic tips behind it to pull from the other side. I applied the new paste, but now facing an issue where the tv won’t turn on 😱 I made sure all the slots were properly clicked in before closing everything back up… any ideas? I know the thermal paste before was littered everywhere and I was scrubbing aggressively… do you think I might have scratched something off that was not supposed to be scratched off?
Yes unfortunately that is most likely the case. At this point i would recommend you replace the mainboard. We have replacements available still but we are getting pretty low on inventory. We will be out of stock very soon.
Wow, I just fixed my LG CX 65 last night after watching this video. Now the TV works. Also, where did you buy the pad or do you have a link so I can buy one? 👏👏🌅
How did you fix the mainboard? Do you have a reflow machine available? The freezing is only a very temporary fix so that you can confirm the fault and is not meant to be a repair. As for the pads you have to buy them usually at a 100 piece minimum order, and we get them from our suppliers overseas. Before I sell you one, it would make more sense to ensure the repair was done properly. Can you give me more information on how you did the repair?
@@NicksTVRepair oh, I cleaned the old thermal paste and added a new one. As of now, it's working well. Also, I noticed less heat on the back. The TV problem was it would turn on then after around 30 minutes to an hour it would start to flicker and turn off again and be in a loop. After researching, I believe it was overheating but no burn spots on anyone on the board since it has very low hours (1874) for a 2021 TV. But now it's been running since 7:24 am CST and it's now 927. But going to add that pad next when I ordered it.
If I replace the mainboard on my LG C1 65 inch, will it require any sort of software to install to work or will the replacement board just have what is needed?
I have a similar problem … which FIVE screws did you remove? I only see 3 … one is next to power cable and other 2 are where the table top stand screws in.
I fixed my CX55 by dropping in a C1 mainboard, has been working great ever since. 😃 (this was after reapplying thermal paste to the cpu and it still failing)
Yeah thermal paste alone doesn't always do it but in some cases it can. You just have to make sure you really clean off all of the old crusty thermal paste off so that the new paste can make good contact with the CPU die and heatink. Additionally having that large silicone thermal pad can be a big difference for heat extraction. With all that said usually a reflow is also required in a few cases, and in a lot, a new CPU especially if the heat stress damaged the chip.
C1 mainboard is working fine till now without issue ? is it compatible with the CX. Bcz same for me after thermal paste application still my tv is freezing after 15 to 30 mins runtime.
@@arjunram8623It should still work. When I bought my LG CX at Best Buy the salesman told me the only difference between the CX and C1 was the AI upscaler, they were otherwise identical. I think I'm going to shop for a C1 board as my CX is also freezing up constantly now.
I have a skyworth 65xc9300 android TV, it comes on and you can hear sound but no video, one day the TV started working fine and worked for 2 days and started back do ING the same thing, could it be the same problem you just showed in your video?
Ok I'm back, if I get a C1 mainboard replacement, I believe I have to do some modifications in secret service menu. I have the service remote. If I put the C1 board in, turn the tv on, do I then go to this service menu and manually enter in the model number and the serial number and then all should be fine after that?
@NicksTVRepair thank you. I've spent weeks trying to fix this damn tv without replacing the board but it gets a little worse and over time and not it won't play any uhd content whether on UA-cam, Netflix or an actual disc. Which defeats the purpose of the tv. Really hope the tv works after replacing the mainboard.
I have a CX55 with a broken panel, I’ve just picked us a bx55 that switches off with a check panel error. Could I swap out my cx board into the bx ie at the components the same/ in the same places
Hi Nick, My 55C1 motherboard is broken. If I find a good 65C1 motherboard, can I replace it directly? Will there be any incompatibility issues? Thank you for your enthusiastic advice.
No problem, just a heads up, since they don't make them new anymore all of them are used and a good majority of the used boards for sale are all defective and have faults. Most of them run for 30 minutes before failing just as shown in this video.
Sorry, I don't think that is a good idea. You don't use the same machine I do, and you don't have it in the same environment I do. My temperatures won't be correct for you. If you and I were both using the same machines in similar environments then yes that would make sense. But because I have a high confidence we don't, using our temp profile won't work for you. I highly recommend that you purchase some low-end cheap circuit boards online, maybe 10 of them or so that have BGA chips. They don't have to be the same as these but similar. Then practice removing them and installing them. As you do that tweak your heat settings top and bottom. I recommend you watch this video starting at around 4:27 or so and use that as your base. Then make your own adjustments from there: ua-cam.com/video/LZFAQgMY-to/v-deo.htmlsi=MGOPfJ8yH80SWYuN&t=267
Holly Molly if I went to those temps the board would be completely destroyed for good. The highest temp we get to is 245c which just goes to show how different setups and equipment matter and require different temperatures to get to the solder melting point. So again, this reinforces that your profile, the heat temp you use on the bottom vs the top, and for how long and how quickly you ramp up to those temps all depend on your setup.
July 18, 2024 - I suspect that a three year old😲 LG 55" OLED TV is starting have "issues" 😠. Mainly starting to flash a split second pink band across the screen. I was searching for possible causes of this issue when I came across this video. While it doesn't address my particular problem. It is an interesting and informative video over all. It was very helpful seeing an OLED TV opened up and how the TV was fixed. 👍👍🙂
Has that pink band gotten worst over time or stayed about the same? Does the pink band seem to occur more often as the TV warms up and less likely to occur on a cold start?
@@NicksTVRepair Thank you very much for such a quick and kind reply. I noticed the issue for the first time last evening after the TV had been on for an hour or more. At first I thought it could have something to do with a severe rainstorm event moving through my area. But I BELIEVE it became more persistent, but I haven't had the time to note the time lapse between the events. I really appreciate your willingness to help, and I'm sorry to say that whatever the problem. I doubt that I will make a decision that will be financially beneficial to your business. I hope others see this exchange between us, and understand that your company is worthy of consideration should they need assistance or repairs. Again, thank you, and as us old trekkies say.. "Live long and prosper! 🖖🙂
@@NicksTVRepair Hi Sir, you are most welcome. I really appreciate your offer of assistance. After using the TV for a couple of days now. The problem has not resurfaced. To be on the safe side, I did thoroughly clean it and blow out the vents with compressed air. Stay well and profitable👍👍😄
Thanks again Nick. Very interesting. So if I understand correctly, it may simply be a lack in the design of this model to dissipate the maximum amount of heat from the chip, just by adding a thermal pad, for long-term protection? On the other hand, if there are no more boards in stock, the TV must be a certain age already.
This is a 2020 model so it's just about 4 years old now. So I think that yes this issue would not be happening if they had a larger heatsink on the top of the board and a thermal pad on the bottom. Although I could be wrong and it's possible that they are also just having so much going on in terms of processing with the whole AI thing that it could be overstressing the CPU. Please keep in mind that I know nothing. Since we only started fixing these a few months ago, I have no idea how long my repairs will last. I know that we are putting in new CPUs I know that we are putting in high-end MX-4 thermal paste, and adding an extra cooling system via the thermal pad on the bottom. We actually just ordered some much larger thermal pads that are larger than the chip for extra heat extraction than the one used in the video. With that said I really don't know the long-term effect of those adjustments and of course won't know for a few years probably.
I have this same model, LG 55CX and it does power on for about 20 to 30 seconds then it powers off. It also has a white vertical line on the right side of the screen. Would this repair in this video correct my problems? I am ready to send in my board for repair. Please advise, thank you.
Because of the line in the screen I think the answer is no. But i would recommend you freeze the CPU as shown in the video and see if that makes a difference. If it does and you are able to get the video to stay on for a longer period of time then I would say yes we can fix it. Essentially I am looking to see if the processor on your mainboard failed in the same way shown in the video. If yes then we can fix it. If not then it's most likely that your screen is defective and not the mainboard. If you don't have a can of compress air I placed a link in the video description where you can quickly and easily buy it.
Question I have a 77 inch C2 about eight months ago LG replaced the main assembly board while it was under warranty. Now it’s not under warranty. The TV went off when you push the power button on the remote it just flashes one time but the regular light comes back it won’t go out of standby. I replace the main assembly board that didn’t fix it that I replaced the power board that didn’t fix it after replace the power board unplugged the ribbon cable off of the.T con board the bottom table and you can hear the relay on the power board click off click on click off click on. I’ve been told by people on here that it’s a panel. Do you have any suggestions on how to test to see if the panel is bad thanks
I don't know much about the C2 so I can't really help to much. But if you replaced the mainboard and power supply and it still has the same fault then most likely the panel is bad.
If you are replacing the entire board then no. If you are trying to remove the heatsink then yes you have to pinch the pins on the bottom of the board and push them through.
This is happening to my LG CX. Seems to cycle and restart every ~15min regardless of of using internal apps or external device. I replaced the main board thinking this would be the solution but the problem still exists. Ordered a new power supply in hopes that solves the issue. Any other ideas of what could be happening if the new power supply doesn’t work?
Did you purchase a replacement mainboard from us? If not then most likely you bought a bad mainboard. I don't think the replacement power supply will help.
Hi, i have an lg oled5587v and i get three red flashes and an audible metallic click when i press the power, but no picture/audio. Any ideas whether its main board or power board?
I have this exact LG Model 55CX and the power does come on for about 20 to 30 seconds then powers off, also there is a white vertical line on the right side of the screen. Would this repair in the video correct this issue? I am ready to send in my board for repair. Please advise, thank you.
Because of the line in the screen I think the answer is no. But i would recommend you freeze the CPU as shown in the video and see if that makes a difference. If you don't have a can of compress air I placed a link in the video description where you can quickly and easily buy it.
I used the compressed air and the tv would stay on a little bit longer, about 45 seconds and then turn off. The white vertical line is still there. Do you think it is the board?
Well I can't be 100% sure but if you want to send in your mainboard, we can live test it in our TV and at least confirm for sure if its working or needs repair. Because freezing the processor allowed the set to stay on longer, I would believe that it does have a defective CPU and that a repair of the mainboard is required. The white vertical line is the part that is throwing me off. I don't know if that is perhaps just a seperate issue.
Does the OLED55CXAUA main board work for 55CXPUA models? I am not familiar with the differences, interested in purchasing one/sending mine to you for repair
We can fix both the CXAUA and the CXPUA variants. If you have a CXPUA version you can purchase this repair service linked below: nickselectronics.com/products/oled55cxpua?variant=48668672426260 If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out
1 year ago, I have a OLED55GX that died in 2,5 years, (I lost each HDMI Ext. one after the other) I've found a replacement board and put termal pad on the heat dissipator to pass the heat to the outer carcass. Mine did not have any sign of heat on the under side of the IC btw. I did at that time a post on the LG Reddit, I felt that I would not be the only one since it's definitevely a design flaw.
Yeah this has been an issue. They added an additional copper plate on the later revision to help with heat dissipation and that seems to have helped a lot.
I have a B4 series OLED. 2024 model, LG voided my warranty because we installed it in an RV. It won't power up now, the red power light will flash different codes, any ideas on which board failed?
My 55b16LA won’t turn on after 2 years use but has a red light on the front that works when u u press your remote control buttons? Any ideas on what has happened thanks
I have the same issue, tv is overheating and turning itself off. However, if i place a fan behind it, where the board is, it doesnt shut uff anymore. Is this a long term solution, or should i send it back to warranty?
If your TV is still under warranty I highly recommend you have the TV serviced asap before it goes out of warranty. If it is already out of warranty which I would assume it is by now, then I wouldn't be able to tell you if this is a proper long-term solution but if you don't mind turning on a fan when you turn on the TV I would say to keep doing that and report back once it fails. I do have replacement mainboards for sale available, but I only have about 30 left before I am completely out of stock. From what I can tell everyone else is out of stock as well, so there may not be parts available in the future.
I am sending in my board now. Do you guys provide the heat sink as part of the repair? (EDIT: You say in the video that you do :) ) Looking forward to having my tv working again!
Just to clarify so we are on the same page. Your mainboard comes stock with the black heatsink on the top of the processor. You have to of course send that black heatsink in with your mainboard for repair. The extra part we provide is the thermal pad on the bottom of the board. Now if you are purchasing a replacement board, then of course both will be provided with the board you purchase.
Please provide me with more information on your TV and the specifics that show the power supply is at fault and we would be happy to help you troubleshoot and or have you send in the power supply for repair. If we find it is defective and needs repair I most likely will be doing a video on the repair! The reason I ask "Are you sure your power supply is faulty?" is because we specifically don't service them at this time for 2 reasons. #1 The power supply fails less than 1% of the time in our experience. The fault is most often with the mainboard and thus there is virtually no demand for power supply repairs. #2 If your power supply is at fault, you can purchase a replacement, whereas with the mainboards there are virtually no replacements available unless you are willing to spend $300 on a used board with no warranty and no idea how long it will last.
@@NicksTVRepair The only reason I suspected the power supply board is that I cleaned and reapplied heatsink paste to the processor, but the TV still turns off spontaneously.
Based on the symptoms you are experiencing it sure sounds like a mainboard failure. Applying new thermal paste is often not enough to fix the mainboard, typically some sort of soldering is required whether it is a reflow of the processor, reball, or replacement. If you don't want to send in your mainboard for repair, we do also have some for sale. Although not an infinite amount. If you want to purchase a replacement the ones we have right now come with a copper plate between the CPU and heatsink to further help heat transfer into the heatsink and that large silicone pad on the back of the board as shown in the video also to help cool the board further. Here is a link to the board for sale on our website: nickselectronics.com/products/oled65cxpua?variant=48668677243156
Hi my lg cx55 was working fine but now doesnt turn on, it makes the clicking sound when turning on. red light is on amd flashed when attempting to turn on but no image. can you help if so whats the cost? thanks
@NicksTVRepair Hi nick it does not have screen damage. the tv wast turning on that evening/night i wrote you but turned on the next morning fine and has since. was it giving me a sign its almost done with the board? should i address before a total failure?
I already bought a replacement/refurbished board off ebay and now i have a second (defective) board that has no evidence of heat damage yet. Can I sell you mine to recoup some of the money I paid for the new one?
Oooo boy. I've been looking at LG OLEDs for the last few years. But my 11 year pld Panasonic 50" ST60 still works fine and I like the plasma display. Crazy
I just replaced my Samsung F8500 64 plasma by an LG C4, 65. The difference is mind boggling. I have been missing out for years. What motivated the change was power consumption. If I had known how far the technology has come I would have changed much, much earlier.
I have the PN64F8500 and an OLED65CXAUA at the house. Both offer really good picture, I would argue that I preffer the colors on the now almost 12 year old plasma TV more than the OLED when watching 1080P content. However if the movie or show is available in 4k HDR then yeah the OLED outperforms it. However depending on the day sometimes even watching 4k content through some of the streaming services it seems I get auto downgraded to 1080P either because my internet is struggling, or the streaming service is not able to keep up perhaps because of high througput demand on their end? I don't know.
@@NicksTVRepairDid you know you can run UHD movies from your PC HDR tonemapped, to the capabilities of the old plasma. Even downscaled with really good downscalers. It is possible to bring life and show new movies with features the screen wasn't made for. Look into MPV ot madvr or mpc-be for example and get some UHD remuxes. Of course the newer OLED will look better but the motion resolution is better on the plasma and it can look even better, if you figure out how to feed it with better quality sources.
Hi @NicksTVRepair, I just called the number on your website to ask questions regarding specifics that weren't mentioned in the video. I was instead responded to rudely with "I don't have time for this" and was told to end the call. Is there a way I can talk to someone about questions I have regarding my specific repair situation? Is there any way to message or call you directly? Thank you!
Hello, I am very sorry this has happened. When you call you should be greeted properly and not rudely. We did have over 150 inquiries that day via email, and the phones were ringing for a few hours straight so we were extremely bussy, but that is no excuse to be treated that way. You can send a message in the UA-cam comments, I usually check them personally once a day or two days depending on how bussy we are. (been a bit bussier lately) Again I opologize for the way you were treated, if you could provide me the name of the person you were speaking with I will make sure to speak with them so that this does not happen again
Hi Nick, I appreciate the response. I do not remember the name of the person on the phone, unfortunately. I have been exchanging Q&A with Richard over email and he has been very helpful. I would appreciate, if you have a moment, could you glance through our email exchange thread? I just want to make sure I have all the information straight before I place my order. Thank you so much for your response!
Hello, I apologize I have been out sick for the last few days. Unfortunately I don't know what email thread is yours I have tried looking but as I don't have your name, or email information I haven't been able to pin point yours. Again we have about 50 new emails daily, so I may have not seen yours or maybe I did and missed it. Of Course DO NOT send me your private information here but if you can send us a follow up email to our support@nickstvs.com email today and include your UA-cam Username in the email, that would make it easier for me to identify your email as yours. Thank you
I am not familiar with the C9 version of the set so I can't say for sure, but it could be the mainboard and it could be the T-con board. What is the full model number of your TV?
Hello Nick my LG TV oled65cxpua just stopped powering on, it was rebooting itself for about 2days but not powering up anymore and no red light. I’d like to fix this ASAP. Waiting for your response thanks.
So we have recently stopped offering the mail in service for these because we have not been able to source anymore CPU's in working order. Because of this we now only offer the boards for sale. We had 5 full boxes worth of these for sale and are down to our last one. So supplies are running very low. If you need a replacement mainboard I would highly recommend you purchase one in the next month or so otherwise we will be 100% out and no longer able to fix them.
Im sorry I don't understand what you mean by Auto off troubleshooting. Are you saying the TV shuts off right after turning on? If so you probably have a bad panel. There is a small chance you may have a mainboard malfunction so as shown in the video I would recommend freezing the CPU and see if that helps. If yes then replace the mainboard. If not then it's a bad panel most likely.
I have a question I’m hoping you could help with. My LG G2 65” shut off after 11 months of use and never turned back on. The power light flickers when I hit the power button, but it no longer turns on. I replaced the Main Board and the Power Board and it is still doing the same thing. LG already gave me a refund, but I’d still like to fix this TV if I can. Any recommendations?
In my experience the LG G2 models have mainboard failures. That's the most common part to go out. Where di you get your replacement boards? These boards are not available not even from LG anymore. If you bought used, it's most likely that you purchased defective boards.
@@NicksTVRepair I bought a TV Repair Kit from TV Parts Today earlier this month. Since the replacement parts didn’t work I don’t know what to do with this TV now. It feels wrong throwing an OLED TV in the garbage lol
My LG C1 65 made a loud click sound while turning on . Now its completely dead no light no sound ,anything. Is it the same problem ? What do you think ? My TV is only 30 Month old .
That is a bit strange. I can't say I am as familiar with the C1 models even though the boards are similar. If you take a look at the back side of your mainboard, do you see a dark brown spot like we saw on this mainboard we fixed in the video? If yes this would confirm the mainboard is bad. If no, then it wouldn't be conclusive because the mainboard can fail without overheating the processor so it still could be the mainboard or something else. If you want to send in the mainboard we can test it and diagnose it, and if we can fix it we would charge the same price as the OLED55CXAUA since the repair will probably be the exact same.
The repairs costs less however right now we are having a really hard time fixing these because we have had very limited access to new parts. We can try to fix it, and sometimes we are able to without having to replace the CPU, however if we have to replace the CPU, we won't be able to fix it as we are unable to source new ones for now. In this scenario, we will have to upsell to a replacement.
No discounts at this time unless we are able to find a new source of replacement CPUs. Since our supplier ran out of stock our ability to fix these has diminished significantly.
I just opened up my CX to check the thermal paste and now I get no power, no red light, nothing. I’ve checked the cables that I disconnected during the process and was quite delicate. I’ve checked the power arriving into the power board and there is correct power. Feeling like there’s something really simple I’m missing. Any ideas?
It's possible your mainboard has completely failed. That does also happen with these. Typically freezing won't help in those cases, just replace the mainboard. We still have a few for sale.
@@NicksTVRepair the only logical explanation I can think of is that the cpu was disturbed while removing the really solid thermal paste. Perhaps if I send mine board in for a cpu replacement like in the video, it will fix the issue?
Depends on the board and what is wrong with it. What is the part number of your mainboard, and or the full model number of your TV. What symptoms do you have with it. If your mainboard is the same one as shown in this video, but simply the 48" version then please see the links in the video description.
All sources were exhausted at the time of the video and to my understanding still are. Unless a new source just became available. Do you have a link to the supplier? Often a few people will have them on eBay but it's only 1 and they are of unknown quality, they could be already defective or near their end of life as most eBay sellers don't really know how to properly test the parts. The only company that has them still for sale is us at this time which won't last for much longer as we are more than halfway through our stock since we were able to get some for sale at the time the video was released.
Man this sucks so anyone know if I can use a cx 48" power supply for a 55" cx? Insurance company sent me the wrong size. I already got refunded for the tv but wanted to see if I can get it working properly. Tried adding a lot of ventilation on mainboard side and that helped make everything work again except for 4K discs. Now I think its a power issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Now lg technician diagnosed and said that screen is to be replaced and they will also change all other components including tcon and mother board and the original components will be taken by them If there is only fault in screen why they are replacing all other comonents.Forthis they said that for setting they have to replace all other components with new screen please guide me what to do
My cx9 has a green circle developing in the middle of the screen. Is this now beyond repair. LG quoted a repair more than the price of a new tv 🤷♂️ TIA
To me it sounds like you have a bad screen. If this is the case then it's not worth fixing. However I would highly recommend you get a second opinion from a local TV repair shop that can see the issue in person as apposed to my opinion being someone on the internet that hasn't even seen the TV.
When was this? I Just checked our support@nickstvs.com and info@nickselectronics.com emails and can't find it. Are either of these the email address you used?
I'm having flickering issues with my G4. It flickers then goes totally black after playing games or watching any time of media/streaming. Repair company already replaced the main bored and it's doing the same thing again. Perhaps they'll replace the panel this next time. If it doesn't work, I'll send the tv back for a newer one. Anyone else know what the problem is yet?
I would recommend you do the following. On a cold start reduce the backlight down to the lowest possible setting. Does that increase the amount of time you can use the TV for? If yes then you have a bad panel. If no then your mainboard indeed probably keeps failing or your have a bad T-con.
@ Thank you Nick, I've already had the main board replaced and awaiting a new panel. I will try the backlight prior to panel replacement. Thank you for your reply 😊
Hello sir .Rehan from India 🇮🇳 Sir .how to read sony 55x8500f sequriy file in emmc with ufi box please help...please make a detail video emmc programming with sequriy file iam waiting
This is some BS. I bought the OLED65CXPUA in March 6, 2021. I've been having the same issues since the last firmware update. July I believe. I ordered the BPR total assembly board to fix myself. Its either $300 to fix or another 2k plus for a new TV not named LG. I'll get back if all works out with self repair.
Ok guys. Here I am. I bought the Main board , removed the original/defective board, and replaced with the new one. It's been a week and the tv is working perfectly. No issues! Might send the defective board to Nick TV repair to have as backup in case this issue arises again.
I have a 65 inch LG CX- bought it around 3 years ago. It's doing the same thing. I found a $300 replacement board online at a parts store in CA, but am hesitant to purchase. Is your TV still working? I have UA-camTV and have had to watch the entire college football season by hooking up my laptop via HDMI because the UA-camTV app causes the TV to freeze and shut down after 1 or 2 minutes. Now regular UA-cam and Prime Video are doing it as well. Maddening because I paid $2000 for this TV.
What do you need the circuit diagram for? I don't think that is available not even to authorized reps. This is not what you are looking for but it's a close second. research.encompass.com/ZEN/sm/OLED55CXAUA.pdf
That is to broad of a question. Depends on the year of manufacturing, the series, the type of TV. Ask me that same question with a model number and I can probably give you an answer.
What is the full model of your TV as printed on the sticker on the TV itself? I don't know what model the x70f would be. That doesn't match anything I am aware of.
Oh really. I haven't had to work on that one yet, still to new of a model. Based on your comment however I am sure I will be seeing my fair share soon enough.
TV quality is just shocking now! I used to be able to get over 10 years from a TV, even then it would just be an upgrade. Now TVs are failing after just a few years. How depressing!
Yes unfortunately it is a bit depressing. I really wish TVs cost more money, and were built with better parts and thus failed less. It would be so much better for us as a society.
Lg is a joke . My oled cx just stopped turning on, lg wouldn’t do anything for me . I went n bought a B4 , set it up yesterday now today the screen has horizontal lines on it picture is shit
I wish this wasn't true but unfortunately, it seems like these days any electronics really is only built to last a few years. It's really too bad. I really wish a company would step up and build a 15-year TV. A TV that is over-engineered, would cost a lot but would last you 15 years and would get updated once a year with new features but the hardware would be the same. You really don't need anything better than 4k. Honestly 8k and better for a TV is just a gimmick, already not everything is even in 4k. It's getting easier and easier to get 4k content but most content people watch is still in 1080P. I would pay 3 times the price for a TV that was built to last and had parts made available to repair it.

I have the same power issue with my LG OLED 65CX (3 years and 10 months old.) Repair quote 850 Euro.
Same! Mine stopped working
@@kjjr9550same 😢
I called lg about mine and they just outright denied any responsibility and transfered me to a local repair tech.
I'll probably just take it apart myself and send thr board off for resoldering after seeing this.
You are the only one on UA-cam excellent tv tech
How much is that repair cost I have lg 2001 ole doesn't turn on no picture before it was fine
Parts are getting very hard to find for these mainboards. We may be discontinuing the repairs very soon.
Thanks for the great video.
I have the same issue and I got a new motherboard as a replacement, I saw the ceramic thermal pad that you put behind the processor and I wanted to buy it but couldn’t find the same thickness after I did some research. May you share where could I get the same thickness as the one in the video.
Thank you.
35mm by 35mm for sides and 15mm thick.
Im sorry I don't buy these through normal channels, I don't know where you might buy one.
My 55c1 stop working, no power at all, even the stand by is not turning on. What it could be ?
That actually is probably still a mainboard failure. If you remove the mainboard and take a look at the back of it, do you see a brown spot on the back where the processor is? If so it means the processor overheated and burnt out. We sell upgraded replacement mainboards if this is the case.
That thermal pad is really tall, where did you get it? Can't find it.
Thanks for the video by the way!
Mine is still working but the thermal paste replacement should be good for it anyway
ill email him as he hasnt replied here i see
I believe this model of TV was recalled in other countries for overheating.
Yes this seems to be the case with every single one of these mainboards we have worked on so far. The thermal pad is very dried up and crusty.
You are a PRO. Thanks for sharing your electronic knowledge.
I do get paid to do this so indeed a pro haha
Hi Nick! Does the BGA chip have to be programmed?
They have a certain amount of firmware on them. If they are blank they won't work. When we get them they already have that firmware programmed.
How thick should the thermal pad be?
up
On the vapor chamber.
@@NicksTVRepair Hi, did not found this information about the thermal pad, what was it's height?
If I replace the mainboard on my LG C1 65 inch, will it require any sort of software to install to work or will the replacement board just have what is needed?
No you should not require new software.
I have a similar problem … which FIVE screws did you remove? I only see 3 … one is next to power cable and other 2 are where the table top stand screws in.
Usually on the bottom of the TV on these LG models
Are the C1 powerboards swapable? I got a C1 55 and picked up a C1 77 with what looks like a power supply issue. Can I swap it over to test?
You can NOT swap the power supply boards with one another but you CAN swap the mainboards.
Yup
@NicksTVRepair thank you. I've spent weeks trying to fix this damn tv without replacing the board but it gets a little worse and over time and not it won't play any uhd content whether on UA-cam, Netflix or an actual disc. Which defeats the purpose of the tv. Really hope the tv works after replacing the mainboard.
it should

Hi Nick, My 55C1 motherboard is broken. If I find a good 65C1 motherboard, can I replace it directly? Will there be any incompatibility issues? Thank you for your enthusiastic advice.
yes the 65" and 55" and also 77" are all cross compatible.
Appreciate you for prompt response ❤.I will try while I get the mainboard of 65C1
No problem, just a heads up, since they don't make them new anymore all of them are used and a good majority of the used boards for sale are all defective and have faults. Most of them run for 30 minutes before failing just as shown in this video.
hi Nick, I got mainboard of 65c1 and replace my 55c1 earlier hours. It works. Appreciate ❤
Thank you for the video. I would like to ask if you can write the BGA soldering parameters for this processor. Time and temperature.
Then make your own adjustments from there:
ua-cam.com/video/LZFAQgMY-to/v-deo.htmlsi=MGOPfJ8yH80SWYuN&t=267
343°- 371°C
Will try to do so haha thanks
Thanks again Nick. Very interesting. So if I understand correctly, it may simply be a lack in the design of this model to dissipate the maximum amount of heat from the chip, just by adding a thermal pad, for long-term protection? On the other hand, if there are no more boards in stock, the TV must be a certain age already.
Oh, only a 2020 model.
@@NicksTVRepair Thank you for this additional information.
Yeah of course

Thank you for the info. I’ll try the compressor again and see if this helps.

No but a bad panel can cause that as well.
My TV is a model OLED65CXPUA.
Do you also offer repair service for the Power Supply Board?
The set is LG OLED65CXPUA, bought in 2021.
Here is a link to the board for sale on our website:

@@NicksTVRepair Yesterday, USPS picked up my mainboard. According to the tracking info, it should arrive at your shop on Wednesday, July 24.
Hi my lg cx55 was working fine but now doesnt turn on, it makes the clicking sound when turning on. red light is on amd flashed when attempting to turn on but no image. can you help if so whats the cost? thanks
Most likely a mainboard failure unless it has physical damage to the screen in which case it's a bad panel
@NicksTVRepair Hi nick it does not have screen damage. the tv wast turning on that evening/night i wrote you but turned on the next morning fine and has since. was it giving me a sign its almost done with the board? should i address before a total failure?
thank you
Thank you Man🥰
You're welcome 😊
I already bought a replacement/refurbished board off ebay and now i have a second (defective) board that has no evidence of heat damage yet. Can I sell you mine to recoup some of the money I paid for the new one?
Sorry no but I would be happy to sell you a replacement. We only have a few more left.
Oooo boy. I've been looking at LG OLEDs for the last few years. But my 11 year pld Panasonic 50" ST60 still works fine and I like the plasma display. Crazy
That's one of the last plasma sets ever made. Keep it for as long as possible!
Thank you!
Hello,
I am very sorry this has happened.
(been a bit bussier lately)
Again I opologize for the way you were treated, if you could provide me the name of the person you were speaking with I will make sure to speak with them so that this does not happen again
Thank you
I have the C9 version, the TV does turn on but it suddenly turns black, what would be the issue?
Hello! I have Oled 55EC930V with auto off troubleshooting, any help please
Not trying to say they are a bad company I buy lots of parts from them, but I also have received a lot of bad board from them.
This board, EBU66105901 LG Bpr Total Assembly,
will cost $297 new. Does your repairs usually costs more than this?
Also, if I purchase your refurbished board is there a discount by sending you the bad one I have.
@@NicksTVRepair I received your ckt card and it fixed the problem as advertised.
what are the chances that the old processor was still good and just needed reballed
I don't know for sure, but I also wouldn't know until it was sent in for us to take a look at.
How much to fix a board? I've a almost 2 year old LG Oled 48" and the picture will not turn on, like at the beginning of this vid
Depends on the board and what is wrong with it.
What is the part number of your mainboard, and or the full model number of your TV. What symptoms do you have with it.
If your mainboard is the same one as shown in this video, but simply the 48" version then please see the links in the video description.
It looks like it's best to fit a fan from new
ideally yes but I would recommend it doesn't draw power from the mainboard. Make it draw from the power supply directly or external power source.
You can still get these mainboards. I have the 65cx and i just replaced mine.
Thanks.
I don't think I have ever tried the 48 in the 55 but I believe you can because the 55/65/77 inch sizes are cross compatible.
How much does it cost?

Lg 4K OLED 55C1XTZ Only 2 and half year old not showing picture when turned on and goes off itself , shows thin red line on screen
That sounds like a panel failure based on the thin red line information. Unfortunately that is not something that is worth fixing.
Now lg technician diagnosed and said that screen is to be replaced and they will also change all other components including tcon and mother board and the original components will be taken by them If there is only fault in screen why they are replacing all other comonents.Forthis they said that for setting they have to replace all other components with new screen please guide me what to do
As usual... Awesome 🎉
Thank you so much 😀
My cx9 has a green circle developing in the middle of the screen. Is this now beyond repair. LG quoted a repair more than the price of a new tv 🤷♂️ TIA
Unfortunately panel replacements aren't worth it.
Sony 83a90j with vertical black lines on entire screen what could it be
To me it sounds like you have a bad screen. If this is the case then it's not worth fixing. However I would highly recommend you get a second opinion from a local TV repair shop that can see the issue in person as apposed to my opinion being someone on the internet that hasn't even seen the TV.
@@NicksTVRepair do you have a Facebook page or email so I can send you a picture

@@NicksTVRepair I sent you a picture via email
When was this? I Just checked our support@nickstvs.com and info@nickselectronics.com emails and can't find it. Are either of these the email address you used?
Dude, what sicone pads do you stack together? Or do you use a GAP pad?
It's more rare but we have seen the T-cons fail as well.

Like I said on the other comment with the same questions, I don't know how to do that. We don't usually do that.
Ok thanks sir for reply 🙏 👍
This is some BS. I bought the OLED65CXPUA in March 6, 2021. I've been having the same issues since the last firmware update. July I believe. I ordered the BPR total assembly board to fix myself. Its either $300 to fix or another 2k plus for a new TV not named LG. I'll get back if all works out with self repair.
I understand your frustration. It would have been better if LG had either a larger heatsink on their board or at least a fan to cool off the unit.
Ok guys.
I need oled55cxaua motherboard circuit diagram... Anyone ?
What do you need the circuit diagram for? I don't think that is available not even to authorized reps.
This is not what you are looking for but it's a close second.

What are the common problems of any LG TV
That is to broad of a question. Depends on the year of manufacturing, the series, the type of TV.
Ask me that same question with a model number and I can probably give you an answer.
@NicksTVRepair as for me I use the Sony bravia x70f and the problem I have with it is sound but no picture. How can it be solved?
What is the full model of your TV as printed on the sticker on the TV itself? I don't know what model the x70f would be. That doesn't match anything I am aware of.
Fantastic!
Thanks
I can’t even get the month old LG OLED TV to turn on now
Oh no, what model do you have?
@@NicksTVRepairit’s the 77in LG C4
Oh really. I haven't had to work on that one yet, still to new of a model. Based on your comment however I am sure I will be seeing my fair share soon enough.
Bit like me after a few Carlton's
TV quality is just shocking now! I used to be able to get over 10 years from a TV, even then it would just be an upgrade. Now TVs are failing after just a few years. How depressing!
Yes unfortunately it is a bit depressing. I really wish TVs cost more money, and were built with better parts and thus failed less. It would be so much better for us as a society.
Lg is a joke . My oled cx just stopped turning on, lg wouldn’t do anything for me . I went n bought a B4 , set it up yesterday now today the screen has horizontal lines on it picture is shit
Oh no, that's a bad panel, you need to return that and get it exchanged asap. That happening right out the box is most likely due to shipping damage.
Planned obsolescence they want you to have more than 2 year life tvs.
15year...I will be for 5 years ...technology changes are fast
TV tech hasn't changed much in the last 10 years. I would argue it's gotten worst as the quality of the parts has degraded.
