How have I never heard of Alain Caron?? Absolute beast.

I don't know how most music lovers haven't heard of him, particularly bassists. He's brilliant. Seen him live. Incredible.
@@WTHFX agreed. saw him with his band at the Vancouver Jazz Festival back in the 90s and it was incredible. Been a fan of him since Uzeb.

Respect from a fretless "player"!
When I started to play bass like that, resting the bass on the other thigh, man, did I get laughed at!
It's more comfortable
Classical position is the best for fretless, in my opinion. Keeps the wrist looser for vibrato, you can use less pressure on the fingerboard, on the right hand is in a better position to rotate for more upright-like playing.
