Steve, GEARS has shown on most PGA playes and great ball strikers, the hands and club work down at the start of transition, they go from above/on the shoulder turn to under the shoulder turn right out the top. They do not go "out" when measured. It's a lowering immediately, ie the saying Steep early = shallow late and Shallow early = steep late,,,thanks for all the great content

Great video, Steve. My question relates to measurement for contact. The downswing moves get you hitting from the side; which is different from setup when you face the ball. In particular, if you hit from the side, the leading shoulder is further from the ball but the leading arm is in line with the shaft at contact. How do we maintain the setup measurement made facing the ball while making contact from the side?

The right humerus bone, the right forearm and wrist play a pivotal role in raising your potential to swing for high clubhead speed. Backswing like Fred Couples (across the line), then let yr wrist turn/ swivel, then relax yr wrist - shaft pointing away from target. Then in Downswing the R.Elbow drops into the box and you turbo charge. Steve . 9-iron: 165 yd.

When I “rotate my forearm” at the top of my swing, all kinds of bad things happen to the club/ club face and my swing feels all kinds of wack. It doesn’t matter which direction I rotate it... hahaha
Also, the comment about “feeling like you’re skipping a stone” through impact is really throwing me through a loop. If I mimic that feeling with a club in my hand, the club face opens and the ball (if I was hitting one) would go 90 degrees to the right.

For me, the Matthew Wolff 's loop in the most intuitive natural throwing motion. Without any preconceived swing thoughts try grabbing a rock and throw it on the ground. See how the trail hand loops and the trail elbow leads the throw as it tucks in. I believe we have a natural movement pattern. Why change it? It is more difficult changing the motor control. If you're really hitting a 7 iron 195+ that's the best argument for torqueing the golf ball back I've seen in a while. I know you can play, but that kind of yardage is just absurd. In Ben Hogan's book Power Golf, he showed his 7 iron distance at around 130 or so. You do the arithmetic. You don't have a swing that can hit the ball 65 yards farther than Ben Hogan through the bag. Lofts may be a little different then to now (although his clubs were bent strong), but not enough to make up 65 yards.

I've played golf life, even professionally. An 18 handicap watching this video has to scratching their head. The golf swing does not have a magical secret and in fact is very personal but the one place the golf swing should be the same is impact (flat left wrist, bent right wrist for a right handed golfer)
Furyk, Wolf, Bryson, Couples all have different ways to get it to the top but if you freeze frame impact they're all in the same position and that is applying energy to the back of the ball at impact.

I never believed in swings that I couldn't see
I said if I can't feel it then how can it be
No, no magic could happen to me
    And then I saw you
I couldn't believe it, you took my hurt
I couldn't retrieve it, said to myself
    What's it all about
Now I know there can be no doubt
    You can do magic
You can give that swing that I desire
    Magic, and you know
You're the one who can put out my fears
    You know darn well
When I cast my club it will get away
But when you analyze with your eyes
A swing of stone can turn in May
    Doo, doo, doo
    Doo, doo, doo
    Doo, doo, doo
    Doo, doo, doo
And when the strain is beatin' upon my shoulder plane
And when my flight it gets so old, when I'm so steep

I just tried the “butt cheek” drill two days ago at the range,…and HOLY CRAP!! What a difference even just trying it for the first time. Incorporating the lagging torso is much easier as well with the butt cheek move. Rotating the forearm, not as much. Lol. But like you said….”needs to be practiced over and over and over again.” And THATS what I’ll be doing. I feel like these are a few of the ingredients I’ve been missing. Thanks for the video. 💪🏼👍🏼🏌🏾‍♂️🏌🏾‍♂️🏌🏾‍♂️

    I 100% don’t get this instruction.
Not trying to discredit you at all! I’m clearly just not good with golf instruction.

Because you are swinging an implement in addition to your arm, the rock skip elbow move happens earlier.
