  • Sh.Ahmad Al-Quaymi (may Allah preserve him ) transmits a text from Ibn Al-Jawzi explaining why he prefers the hanbai madhab over other schools of thought.

      It is not true according to me that Abu Haneefa said Qur`an is created

      People quote As-Sunnah by Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal, Most of the chains against Abu Hanifa in the book are weak Shaykh Amr Abdul Munim talked in detail about those narrations in his Book Abu Hanifa and saying of Qur`an is created attributed to him, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal himself said Abu Haneefa did not say this.

      I think Abu Hanifa said This (Quran) is creation, which is his dhan,
      (AS-SUNNAH NO 265 )
      But the narration presented above Imam Ahmad is telling with yaqeen that Abu Hanifa did not say this. There is nothing to clear now Alhumdulillah everything is clear i.e Imam Abu Hanifa was not a Jahmi, he himself refuted Jahmies

    I read about the Wahabis who helped in reforming the Hanbali School or jurisprudence in the 18th Century. I agree with some of the principles they have at their core. These are: monotheism and ijtihad.
    On the question of Monotheism al-Wahhab believed: "the criterion for one's standing as either a Muslim or an unbeliever was correct worship as an expression of belief in one God ... any act or statement that indicates devotion to a being other than God is to associate another creature with God's power, and that is tantamount to idolatry (shirk). Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab included in the category of such acts popular religious practices that made holy men into intercessors with God. That was the core of the controversy between him and his adversaries, including his own brother."
    This is compatible with the definition of a monotheist according to the Qur'anic verse 3:64 explaining: "Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book! Let us come to common terms: that we will worship none but Allah, associate none with Him, nor take one another as lords instead of Allah.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we have submitted ˹to Allah alone.”
    al-Wahhab also said holy men could not be intercessors. That is to say they cannot be the mediator/authority between the people and God. The reason was because it could lead to incorrect practice of Islam if the intercessor is not pure enough. However, in the interests of keeping peace amongst Muslims, the veneration of holy men as intercessors could be tolerated, but not accepted by the Wahhabis. Maybe it could be made Makruh? This way people are discouraged from making holy men intercessors (which is considered a reward), but it is not illegal/sinful to do so.
    The second principle of Wahabism as a neo-Hanbali movement I like is ijtihad. Ijtihad, "is an Islamic legal term referring to independent reasoning by an expert in Islamic law, or the thorough exertion of a jurist's mental faculty in finding a solution to a legal question." "According to classical Sunni theory, ijtihad requires expertise in the Arabic language, theology, revealed texts, and principles of jurisprudence [consensus and analogical reasoning between Qur'an and hadith]."
    This is in direct contrast to Taqleed used by the Ottomans, so "this stance pitted them against the Ottoman Sufi ulema who shunned Ijtihad and obligated Taqleed. "Taqleed means to conform to the teachings of "a person accepted as an original authority in Islamic law." Ijitihad promotes free thought, and adaptability to context, whilst taqleed promotes conformity and rigidity to the people defined as the Mujtahid. The Ottoman system of governance was inherently secular. The reason is because there were two bodies that created law: the (religious) Ottoman ulema and the Sultan himself (state). The traditional Muslim empires were ruled through a leader who symbolized the unification of state and religion.
    In defence of Ottoman secularism, I would say that one reason why it emerged was because the religious scripture was not enough to make the best legal/policy decisions. This led to the creation of the secular state law and the religious law, or sharia law. Science is an important aspect of Islam, since the science of the hadith was used to verify the sayings of the Prophet (PBUH). Therefore, it would be good if scientific knowledge by Wahhabi religious scholars was applied in determining an outcome for legal/policy problems. If Persian Islamic mathematicians like Al-Khwarizmi could invent and apply algebra (an Arabic word) in the Feudal Age, then I am sure 21st century religious scholars, specializing in a very specific legal/policy area, can apply scientific reasoning and calculations (and religious knowledge) to answer legal and policy issues.

    They are individual opinions which neither makes one madhab superior or inferior to other

      while having these short clips in English is definitely a benefit, its best for us to learn arabic and put in the work ourselves. Making a one hour or longer lecture into english is a massive undertaking. and not practical for the most part. may Allah reward those that put their time into this noble work.

    Hanbali fiqh but hanafi fiqh is the most rich in usool fiqh like shafi said abu hanifah isbthe father of usool fiqh

      Hanafi are ahlul ray and they don't give weight to sahaba's opinion but scholar's opinion .

      The usool of Hanafi fiqh depended mostly on raay but they didn't reject the hadith of sahaba, there were changed made by Imam Abu Yusuf and Imam Al Shaybani in Hanafi fiqh who were students and companions of Imam Abu Hanifa, and the new Hanafi is used and studied now and have strong daleel on their opinion/actions
