Almost ordered these in 1967- opted for white pearl instead of psych red - still have them. Super Classics are hard to beat (especially in the studio).
Like these drums,' high level, stunning sound' and Steve play's it absolutely amazing and gave the right 60ties to hear' ... i have these configuration in WMP 1964 i will never regret', beautiful in Psychedelic here'
About as good as it gets. You cannot manufacture vintage. It's simply a process of the passage of time. These are the best looking & best sounding Psych series of Ludwigs I've ever heard. The cymbals are incredible as well. Of course Steve simply plays his butt off. Chops galore...5 Stars!
I love the psychedelic red finish. First saw it in a Ludwig catalog in 1977 when I was 9 years old. I wanted that kit so bad. Leon cymbals? That's a new one on me. Nice.
oh man, the liveliness and articulation of this kit mesmerized me! seemed like the aging process focused it to be almost vocal! i've been listening to drumkits a fair few decades and this one is one i'll remember for sure! thx for making these cutz available to listen to!
That was absolutely amazing drumming and what a great sounding kit. I think you are my favourite drummer. Really enjoyed this video, your drumming and amazing tones always keeps me coming back for more.
Vintage.... yeah! When drums are made with passion and atention to detail like these Luddies as time passes by and some extra loving care. The sound just keeps getting better & better. As usual Steve playing great.
i have the 1967 (date inside the drums)(from what I can tell) deluxe classic in blue sparkle. 13, 16, 14 x22 , supraphonic snare. original stands, pedal, hi hat with the original paistes . I used it in a recording studio a couple of times, the techs were very happy with the sound of the drums. I had since added a 12 and a 14 toms but didn't not alter the orignal set........
Great demo. Like the kit. I keep getting more impressed with the Leon cymbals. Would love to see a demo of your Leon line kind of like you all did with the zildjian series recently. Anyway thanks for posting.
I've been playing drums for over 30 years and still can't really tell the difference between a budget kit with new heads and tuned well compared to a great vintage kit. Next comes the way it was recorded and finally the player. There are so many variables to contend with. Oh, I forgot. The look of the drums and our biased opinion of the brand of drums.

Great playing. Those toms sound sooooo good. Could be a commercial for calftone heads too.
These drums look amazing and sound amazing if only these drum kits could tell stories

Thank you very much for the kind words! Steve
Honestly, I just came for the playing... ✌🏼❤️

I didn't even see this particular ride on the Leon web site. I like that asymmetric lathing work they do like before cnc era, on their Deep rides..
My favorite kit

Beautiful sounding Ludwigs.
It’s hard to beat vintage.
You wonder what snare, the original owner used with these…and did he retain it.
Big fan of these vintage Ludwig kits and I feature a few myself on my channel. Great demo and playing and just a gorgeous kit. New subscriber here!
nice drumming
Great
I have that kit! Still play it. NOT the original heads.
The Ludwig Speed King finally gave out a few years ago.
Love the drum playing you did in this video and the deep tone out of those.
Awesome set!!! 💕
Just stunning!!❤❤
Sweet as it gets! Love it thks
Sounds amazing!

If this drum player were to play the same thing on a new budget kit, would it sound so different to the average listener? Serious question.
Stunning…….& the kits not bad either……👀
GAY
@@familyengineering5591 I meant the playing 🥁…….you 🔔 end…..
Always thought that was the most hideous color ever. Sound good though.
