You give me hope! I love watching you traverse south and every night I pack my pack (in my head) in an effort to fall asleep. I am tackling the 100 mile wilderness in June (for my second time; first time solo) and I will think of you!!
It's so cool because I'm from NJ and I know exactly where you are along Dunnfield Creek! I too absolutely love that section of the AT along the river. Congratulations to you on reaching PA! I hope to hike the AT one day and you and lots of others on YT that have documented their AT journeys are my inspiration!
So enjoying your hike and your videos. Yes take your hat off on bridges. Hello Scott' s Mom. Yes no leaves you are able to see the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. That site did have a great view. What a WOW sunrise. Love your humor. Yes Rocky's theme song is great. Yea for Mom and Dad. So glad you have a great backup team supporting you. Your laugh is contagious. Your alone time may be changing soon. Blessings and safe hiking
It was a surprise to meet you on the AT as you were getting ready to head into Maryland. I was with my yellow Labrador, Skender. Our brief encounter provided me enough information to be in awe of your journey as I couldn't conceive of someone walking South from Maine in the Winter, especially this one. I will be curious where you encounter your first Northbound hiker. My May you will be sharing crowded campgrounds and your journeys should be an inspiration for them as you relate your experience around a campfire. All the best for the remainder of your journey and in the future.
Just back from the Foothills Trail and catching up. Beautiful sunrise in the cold! Congrats on another state done and nice visit with mom! And another great sunrise to start in PA. Was glad to be out of the PA rocks!
Socializing hummmm, 🤔 you have no problem talking to us, who you can’t see, so you’ll ace it with those you can see❣️👍🏻👍🏻Congratulations on entering PA and completing 3 months, AquaMan❣️Yeah 🤩 Cool that you could meet up with your mom and dad 😃 Some pretty nice views, and serious rocks 🥴 God bless and keep you safe. Happy Trails❣️🥾🥾🥾
2:32 "...I don't drink coffee..." Dude, you MANUFACTURE caffeine...😊 Let's see how many times Scott says, "Pretty" in this video. It seems to be his favorite positive descriptor. So nice and pure. I have done most of the AT in the fall, and watching you hike, I realize just how many miles I did in the snow. In Pa. I remember cautiously inching my way across Wolf Rocks in 6 inches of fresh snow. With the temperature climbing into the 40s there was so much fog that I had no idea how bad the drops could be. I also hiked Maryland in a protracted, early season snow storm. So far, Pa. has been kind to you. I hope that it treats me well when I attempt an inside-out thruhike next year. My Superior Gear hammock just shipped. It's rated to -15F. Maybe too late for this year, but next year's January start will put it to the test. For the couple of custom sleeping bags that I got from Feathered Friends in the 1980s, I got black interiors to speed up drying times, and I would do it again. It works. Charcoal color was a good choice. 👍 I'm enjoying your flowing commentary. Hike on!
“ What do you say to people?” I laughed out loud when you said that Scott. You remind me a bit of Thoreau. There is a poetry to your thoughts as you express them out loud. You love to be alone but you often long for your friends and family. “ Friends... They cherish one another’s hopes. They are kind to one another’s dreams.” ( Thoreau) You seem to have wonderful people in your life supporting you Scott.
Love the Rhodos around Mount Minsi. Done a lot of day hikes on the AT but this was the only area I spent some 1 nighters in the 80s. From WW too, but graduated in the 80s. You like the country, imagine living in WW or PBoro in the 70s. We had a "RR" for mail (Rural Route) but it is no longer... Maybe I saw you mountain biking at MC Park? Small World, best of luck on your future endeavors. Definitely do the triple crown when you are young so you can bang them out with ease. Living in North Jersey now and the last remnants of my family in WW are gone as of last year. Don't rush to leave the area, I have 50 years experience there -- a nice area.
Welcome to infamous "Rocksylvania"! You should meet your first NOBO's in PA. Nice job, Scott! A NOTE TO MOM & DAD: Your son has quickly reached legendary status for many of us because of his accomplishments so far and for his attitude, especially when the going is rough. He is simply amazing and I know you are proud of him. I want you to know that even those of us who don't even know him think he is something special. (Please don't tell him, though.. We don't want his head to swell too much!) LMAO!
My wife and I have enjoyed following your journey south on the AT. Congratulations on making it into Pennsylvania - your 7th state! As you approach Pine Grove Furnace, please know that we are available to help in any way you might need. We live in that area and have done trail magic in the past in south central PA. Take care!
I'm from Philly so I grew up on those same trails. I don't even notice rocks. I can tell you are from that area because of the way you say things like "Soy-er" vs "Saw-yer". I love your musings. Whoever ends up at a camp with you is very lucky, whatever you say. Enjoy PA!
Scott, good day Most beautiful sunrise, I like his discriptor, better than many others LOL. Keep on keeping on doing a great job walking and coaching yourself to be a great man? 🚶🚶
Love the rocky theme for PA! I'm going to have to put it on my playlist for when I'm out on day hikes. And as a lifelong PA resident, I was confused when hikers complained to me about the rocky trail. And then I was REALLY surprised when I hiked in other states and found out how nice it is to hike without the constant rocks. :D
I grew up in PA and never understood why every hiker complained so much. You mean the rest of the trail is just dirt? ABSURD! hehe (living in NoVA now, it’s still quite rocky).
Yay PA! Grew up in Nazareth and my sister and I would hike Windgap to DWG and she would say we are going to do the whole trail some day! I’m like your nuts! 1986 we were nuts! Lol Best thing ever! You are so right about winter and Ridges so pretty. Be well enjoy the new quilt . Trail on! TnT 🥾
That red sunrise reminded me of an old saying, "Red sky at night, sailor's delight; red sky at morning, sailor's take warning." The meaning is a storm is coming with the second part, but with the first part there will be good weather. I'm sure you've already seen the result.
I read an article about this saying. It said sailors want wind to fill the sails and keep the ship moving so a red sky at night (sailors delight) would portend to wind the next day. Where as a red sky in the morning could mean less wind or even doldrums where there is no wind. It would be interesting to get the low down from an actual sailor!
@@celestesuter1148 yes, Celeste, Red sky indicates a high pressure system present. Since you are east, it means a low pressure system could be moving in from the west bringing in a storm
I saw my first Northbounder today outside of Harper’s Ferry. You should be crossing paths in a week or-so. With luck, maybe I’ll see you when you come through my neck of the woods.
Congrats on making it three months, Scott! I think I found your channel the week you started...looked like you were hiking in the north pole....Do you have an estimate when you'll think you'll finish the trail? You're going to finish so early, might as well turn back around and do the NOBO again!!!! I bet you wouldn't be alone on the journey back... :) Anyway, safe travels and look forward to seeing how the rest of your hike develops.
7 states down! Awesome! I would like to know if you have any tip on walking through the rocks - dry and wet. Thank you for the camp views. Hike On - Happy Trails.
Best sunrise 🌅 yet, Scott! Food is my favorite thing about this planet 🤗 I understand the joy you’re feeling and the appreciation of food, a cozy blanket and it was the footage we are enjoying the journey without being in 12 degrees!
I'm guessing you are starting to run into people. Good luck! So much about this that I loved. Every time I hike northern PA I say I'll never do it again, but it's the closest trail so again and again I go!
Really enjoying your videos. I take it from a couple of comments you made that you haven’t crossed paths with any NOBOs yet. I’m sure you’ll be fine with any hikers you run into the further south you go.
Nice to see your mom. I am sure she is really proud of her son. The NJ vistas were so pretty. I am sure your social skills will be fine, kind of like riding a bike. 😂
Welcome to PA.I can't believe you're in Pennsylvania already. I live no more than 15 to 30 minutes from where you are. Wow! Since this video is delayed you must be close to or past Lehigh Gap my now. Jeez... You're motoring! I'm watching this on Saturday afternoon after a crazy March snowstorm this morning. The AT should be snow covered today and quite windy! I'm hoping it's decent on Sunday so I can do at least one snow hike this season. Keep "rockin'"!! BTW, my two cents on the rocksyvania thing: It's a bit overhyped. But, the pointy, edgy rocks definitely wear on you after a while.
You give me hope! I love watching you traverse south and every night I pack my pack (in my head) in an effort to fall asleep. I am tackling the 100 mile wilderness in June (for my second time; first time solo) and I will think of you!!
"is this the footage you were looking for?" YES! Excellent and candid. You're on a wild adventure. Thanks for sharing it!

Still loving your videos! Congratulations on Pa! I live in Waynesboro so let me know if you need anything in southern Pa/Maryland. 😁

Yup, but 7 states conquered.
Great job enjoying every minute. When do you think you will see first nobo
I ran into a NOBO (Sam) a few days back :)
Pretend you went feral after all that time in the woods alone. It would be hilarious.
Dang Leroy you are trucking huh its time for you too rock hahaha oh good times in PA. 😆
If you all like Scott, yall need to subscribe to "Walking Tapeworm." He's on the AT finishing his triple crown! Maybe they will meet in the middle.
Really enjoying your videos. I take it from a couple of comments you made that you haven’t crossed paths with any NOBOs yet. I’m sure you’ll be fine with any hikers you run into the further south you go.
Just had a blizzard today in your next state with about 3 inches. Enjoying your hike south!
