I am a curious person but not an expert in the protein folding domain.
Q1: It seems the DNA sequence combined with physics rules can create a copy of a living organism. Would it be possible to look at the early stage of the living organism reproduction and figure out how they produce different proteins?
Q2: Can we put many building blocks for different proteins in a container and watch how they interact? If we have powerful imaging technology, this could create a huge database. These images might not be useful for humans, but they could be of great value for a machine learning algorithm. Pushing this idea one step further, a machine learning-based algorithm like MuZero could control the container's content by adding different building blocks and getting images (in different resolutions and of different parts of the container). People should invest in imaging technology that enables the computer to interact with the environment and directly see the results.

Back when they came out with the Tupac hologram, I was wondering what if they could make some kind of AI to write the music, then your pop star is basically an avatar for an algorithm and you'd essentially have immortal pop stars. They've basically got the shell of it with Hatsune Miku in Japan, however it's human written music for the most part.

I get the feeling that these scientists are so enamoured with their field that they don't realise they are taking us deeper and deeper into a tail-biting bio-maelstrom of complexity that will soon implode on itself taking us down with it.

Hey Lex, the last few months I have been following someone who I think could be very interesting as a guest on your show. He's Daniel Naroditsky, a russian-american chess grandmaster and stanford graduate in history. I've heard him talking about his views a few times and he had some interesting points about division in the US which sort of fit with your open minded perspective. I don't know that much more about him except he's a great chess teacher and often quotes soviet chess players, but I could imagine you having an interesting conversation and I'm really curious about what he's like in a long form discussion. He lives in Charlotte South Carolina AFAIK.
Anyway if you read this thanks for your great podcast, your guests and you have given me many insights and helped me through some darker times. Greetings from Germany!

According to Dmitry, there is still much to understand about the spike protein, and yet, we have vaccines designed for it specifically. Did researchers rush their findings to create a vaccine? is it safe to produce a vaccine without all the information?

Hi Lex... If w look around. We can see that there are patterns that occur over and over again. All kinds of patterns. Like that things goes in cirkles (recycling i nature and more) and also what I know there isn´t a single thing known to humanity that is existing in only one copy (that is not manmade). If you look around you there is not only one tree, one human, one planet, one stone, one star, one galaxy, one electron, one photon or one of anything. So why would that be different with with life in the Universe. Why would there be only one place with life if anything else is not one? Also why would there be only one Universe and one multiverse? What feels most natural is that everything is infinite and eternal and just goes in circles over and over again. An never ending circle of life/energy in an eternal space. Only the human mind may think that anything starts and stoppes. Like death and life is only words of humans to describe the world. We are just part of it all that always change form and attributes. So noone ever dies or are born what we call to be born is just a part of the eternal ongoing infinite/eternal chainreaction that goes around in all of "it" (space). So why would we think that we should be the exception to all signs and patterns out there?
We are one world, one family and one people (DNA and genomics now can prove) with same origin and same ancestors (if we only go enough generations back in time). Nomatter how different we are (outside/looks or inside/personality).
