I was born and raised on the Big Island, lived in Captain Cook in a renovated coffee shack on 6 acres of land. I remember being very little and the first signal light was installed in Kailua! Hapuna beach had no hotel, Hualalai Four Seasons was all lava rock. Pine trees was four wheel drive only and only the locals knew how to get there. Saddle road was a dangerous two lane road with pot holes, and blind curves. Took forever to get to Hilo. I live in Santa Barbara, California now and haven’t been back to the Big Island in 20 years! I’m finally going back to visit in September. I think I’m going to be shocked on how much it’s changed!
Love you Guys my wife and I live on the Big island it’s nice to see you guys over here we live in Waikoloa Village maybe in the future you can let your viewers know about our spot in paradise
Thank you for going to the Big Island! Very informative and I enjoy you guys have a great dynamic like brother and sister. I’m really interested on the Kona side or west side of Oahu. Yes, we want more Big Island videos.
Having been to and explored all the major islands of Hawaii multiple times, my favorite is the Big Island. I can FEEL the bigness and open space of the island immediately…it’s almost impossible to drive around for hours on the other islands and have that feeling that the whole island is yours like on the Big Island. My favorite area for a home would prob be in Holualoa given the island jungle feel mixed with the fact that it’s so close to all the comforts of Kailua-Kona. PS all the fine sand beaches of the tropics are created by the various puffer fish eating the coral and rocks for the algae, and then pooping it out as fine sand…yep, the beaches are fish poop!
You guys are doing an awesome job with your videos. I like that you make them so much fun and give a local’s perspective on life. You obviously put a lot of time, effort and heart into making them. If I didn’t already have a realtor, I would hire you even though I don’t “know” you personally which says a lot when making a purchase of this size. Keep on keeping on 💫 PS. Thanks for showing on the map where the areas are that you are talking about😂
Great informative video...please do some other videos on the Big Island like the luxury resort vacation condos in the Waikoloa area (Kolea) and Mauna Lani resort area.
This is quintessential M/H. It's selling the dream, grounded with feet-on-pavement perspective and a break-down of the numbers, with lessons in local culture, climate, topography, roads, and vibe. For me, when you said yurt, I immediately thought hippies. I can't do hippies anymore. The young ones with the dreadlocks or braids, especially, lean toward narcissistic and think they're better than people who go into work every day, or who live in a residence with a garage. Their off-grid lives usually have them coming into town for shady antics when things get a little rough.
@ Derek and Mahe thanks for this video. I’m visiting Kona next weekend after 6 years. I’m ready for my trip. Hawaii Island was the first place I saw goats.
I'm really glad you guys made this video. I really consider this island moreso than Oahu because its more spacious and has various climates. As someone who loves the vegetation/outdoors. Love getting to see new kinds of neighborhoods too even if I don't live there
As a Kanaks that left HNL for the mainland in 1980 and had no intentions of returning, even when DHHL constantly sent me HS offers, I now am thinking about moving back to the KOA Westside. Mahalo for sharing! Sub'd 😊
I just installed those landscape beds behind you last week at the place you guys drank coffee at in kona. I was like i recognize that spot lol! Hope you enjoyed your time on big Island 🤙
Love you guys and watched almost every video you guys done. Learned alot. You guys are in my hood and are in the pricey, upscale, high maka maka hoods. I love that I can relate with your guys lanquage but plenty kamaaina’s no can even think of living in those neighborhoods. I know you guys in the business of selling but there is a realtor/contractor team on the Hilo side making big waves and changing how things are done. Come back Kona - love seeing my hood and learning more about it.
Thank you very much. Much of our history originated from the other islands. We had so many relatives who were born, and are still born on the Big Island. Many love the Plantation Village homes are still around, homes that our Mother and her siblings grew up in. I'd love to go back, but at this point, it is just impossible. When I left back in the 70's, cane fields surrounded out town, and there was no traffic. It just isn't the same. Can you do the Hamakua Coast next time with all the small towns.
Your videos are so informative and interesting, guys! Mahalo! Awesome island, definitely my next destination... my main interest is horse riding and horse properties and in the country as I don't care about going out - hardly ever - Great job guys! 🥰🙏
Dogs chasing you...yah! Could never pick up my mail during the day over in Puna. Packs of pits would chase me down to the stop sign. I helped at the first International Yurt Conference just west of Pahoa in 2011.
Please don’t move here to the Big Island. We get too many damn “settlers” already that moved because of the pandemic. Now we need ALL of them to go back home!
Please don’t encourage more mainlanders to move here. They are driving housing prices up to unaffordable levels for those who have lived here forever. Our kids can’t afford to buy their own homes anymore. Plus We are tired of the rude ones that honk at us for being in their way. Please consider how the influx of misfits affects us locals. Thank you.
I have not been back to the big island in 20 years and it’s changed for the worse. All locals are disappearing and ghetto mainlanders now here. It’s dirty and still underdeveloped. I went to a famers market in Waimea and a local said the population was shrinking. Maui and Oahu are much better islands to live. If you’re broke or a tweaker, this is the place for you. There is a reason real estate is cheaper on the big island.
It's super sad how much properties are going up It's insane//Even Mexico City one of the most unsafe cities on the planet is raising their prices to insanity when the people there barely make anything

Obsessed with y'all's channel! I have fallen down a rabbit hole of Hawaii knowledge and it has been so eye-opening! Mahalo!
Me too
I would love to see more of Big Island and the others as well! It's great to know all options/opportunities there are in the whole state of Hawaii ❤

Definitely want to see 2.5-5.5m luxury homes w the great ocean views. This is Ish. You just get so much more bang for your buck here.

How do you think a barber would do there? I’m currently working in Nashville.
They are so smart getting you guys to teach about UA-cam. Ya’ll are killing it ✊🏽

Digging imu’s for no specific reason, tita you disconnected🤣
First!
I love yurts. ❤
Surf breaks?
Only a few, all overcrowded. If you like go big, then maybe a few more. But gotta watch out for Tiger sharks. Oahu wins for surf breaks.
Hard to beat Oahu when it comes to surf

Right, please stop promoting moving here.
hmmmmm
New Core Team video upload? CLICK! Best videos evah!!
Mahalo for rockin with us 🤙
You guys are too funny. Full of stereotypes. I'm from Kauai, no mo imus...ok maybe a couple. Illegal for open fire, but if you heating an imu It's ok.
GUY!! I never know that. Big island might be highest imus per capita then haha
