That was literally a walk down memory lane for me. This was my dads home town and you captured the house he was born in together with my grandmother before him. Dad left Cromarty just after the war as a teenager but always considered it home. Every summer we went up there for 2 weeks holiday and as kid it was dawn to dusk playtime, which in the summer months was a long day. It was the sort of place that everybody knew who you were and who you belonged to. Later on in life a brought my own family up there for the same experience and they love it too. Not been there for a few years now but missing it, so will be planning to do another family gathering in the next year or two.
Cromarty is a great little Village and not much new build going on there. Lots of new build estates in Rosemarkie and Fortrose, and it's becoming very much a commuter area now for new folk moving in and working in Inverness. Which house was your Dad's in Cromarty? Make the effort to visit in the future, I'm sure it will bring back a few memories. 😀
Great video! I was in Cromarty last August to visit my cousins that still live in our home town. Cromarty is a very lovely place and very relaxing. And its a great place to go fishing in late summer. Cant wait to go back!
Thanks for your comment, Cromarty is a beautiful place, I certainly could live there. The weather here at the moment is fantastic which makes a big difference. Thanks for watching, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video.
Cromarty is a Town, used to be a Royal Burgh. The yellow rigs are not oil rigs, they are part of the offshore renewables projects. The other big rigs used to be Oil Rigs, either production or even sometimes jack up drilling rigs. They are waiting for new contracts. Good clear filming, thank you for sharing our beautiful town. Suggest that you edit the speech printing though?
Oh my gosh . I’m so happy I found you ! My Bain family’s home . Do you know where Rose Cottage is ? Have you come across that name . Thank you from Canada .
Thank you again, Rose Cottage certainly rings a bell, I will check it out next time I'm in Cromarty. It certainly makes these videos worth while when I receive lovely comments like yours, I really appreciate it. 😀
