I haven’t bothered much with SNL for years but I gotta say, I love Bowen Yang’s stuff. He is just fearless in the characters he will take a run at, and some of the oddest ones are the best, like the Chinese spy balloon and the Titanic iceberg.
Heidi Gardner just took her talent to another level of comedy. Well done. Bowen Yang does Gay comedy best. And thanks Weekend Update for keeping satire and parody alive and well in the US. Target us all...we need some humbling!
Alot of people probably didn't get her sketch, but yea, i knew some people like that. Always busy, always triple booked for meetings, but no real sense of what they actually did, aside from being triple booked for meetings :)
@@MarcosElMalo2 Ron DUH! I love it, but I hope he won't be popular long enough for it to catch. Just long enough to steal votes from the orange insurrectionist.
Weekend Update in it’s entirety is always a great start to a Monday Morning. Funniest part of SNL - Bowen Yang, stole the segment for me, time to sashay away. Loved the shine box quip.
@atg13. Actually, it was hilarious. Why do you think it was horrible? Did it make you uncomfortable or uneasy? If so, you probably shouldn't watch SNL.
I love that there are more and more jokes that are based on the fact that Colin didn't write them. Seeing Colin squirm through jokes he didn't write just has some special little pizzaz to it. Live it!
Lol the funny thing is that he's very likely used to it by now, I think the squirm is a show. And he probably did write some, I feel like he's the king of economic punchlines, whereas Che is more of a narrative writer, you can see in his stand up how relaxed he is during the set up, a lot of comics rush thru this part, its hard to pace. I think he writes dialogue and Jost is the "closer," it's just that his persona is perfect for this set up. Just a guess tho.
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory Wow, Maybe you should be Comic Nerd? Nice analysis. They are fun to watch. Knowing the duo are also close friends gives a feel-good vibe as well. (Didn't Jost recommend Che for an interview? I think that's how this magic started.)
I think Bowen has reached a new performance height as Jafar. Heidi's new character Crystal is amazing - I feel like she's taken that Kristen Wiig energy and warped it into something new, strange and fabulous. Really, really well done!
Yup. Totally agree. Bowen Yang has already impressed me; I expect nothing less than perfection from him. But this to me, seems to be Heidi's 'Magnus Opus'. I totally see the Kirstin Wiig commonality in the sense that she has found a unique 'style' that is totally unbridled yet still very aware of timing and intensity. I'm also a bit drunk.

I am stunned....'Chrystal' is amazing. I wasn't even paying attention to 'her, perse. It was the acting. It was perfect. Not once did she lose focus without making it look as if she was working. There were so many pauses in her lines but none of them felt empty; she filled them all. That was amazing

I honestly don't find it newsworthy that a woman went on 24 dates in 20 countries. An average looking American female high school teacher could do that in a summer vacation with a little bit of planning and elbow grease.
Seeing as how her performance was live & unedited, we’d say Heidi was Lucy Ball, Carol Burnett, Melissa McCarthy & M.T. Moore perfect! That’s a rare phenomenon! Great fun!
Wow! Crystal works remotely in the weeds! Her team always on her back? Clearly, she needs a magnifying glass... Eats Kale salad csar phone but doesn't have time to talk... Ann Taylor work clothes as Che's Assistant! 😮😢😂
Still my favorites part of SNL, these two. And so glad the full Weekend Updates are being uploaded as a single video. I will say, I’m feeling called out because I have that exact same water bottle. I DO WORK!
A lot of people have that waterbottle. That's why it resonates with you; it is a relatable prop for an office worker skit. And let me tell you: I hate that waterbottle. I associate it with people who have their sh it together and are very organised. I am the opposite of organised. If I try to be a waterbottle person, it only highlights my inadequacies: I would forget to bring it with me and end up drinking from the machine, feeling like a failure and exposed as a fraud.
I have got to save this one. The ending skit with the "Coworker ..." is sooo fun! I don't know how they could write it out and plan it. I bet they kept adding stuff and taking stuff out and putting back in. And going nuts! And then to rehearsals! I bet they gave up! And whatever happens ... Happens! And it did! Heidi had everything moving. Eyes, mouth, head, face, hips and that zany attitude working some type of script. And she wasn't and couldn't stare at no cue cards! Better than the Jafar from the live action version
