Thanks for posting. My 40minute drive each way for work has been brutal in Wisconsin. Last two summers of course I forgot to look into the problem so your quick fix is a huge help man. Not all heroes wear capes!
Thank you for the video it save me a lot of money I just opened a little bit on the bottle of the floor vents now I’ll get plenty of defrost and Lots of air in my vents Thank you you help me a lot on this God bless you my friend
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Big Horn/Laramie. What I did was take two lengths of the jack stand poles, the ones that you can collapse/take apart, and I was able to poke the door open and have it propped up on itself for the same opening you were able to achieve. Just prop open the door on itself and pull your jack poles away, and it should stay open if its that broken piece. It works pretty damn well.
Thank You! 2003 quad cab blend door had dropped just like your video. In Defrost mode was able to stick a paint stir stick in top of drivers side double floor vent pushing up door enough for warm feet.
I had the same issue No heat/ cold to the floor and after watching your video which help me solved my problem 'winter time NYC'. Not a penny spend just a little bit of my spare time. Thanks for the video 👍🏻
That info is assume. Dealer wanted $1100 to fix mine. I will dig into it again with your info I can have heat on the floor. THANKS 1500 QUAD 2007 FYI: My last dodge
My first dodge and I'm seriously tired of fixing cheap made junk. Ever other week some random plastic thingy is breaking. Never had these problems with chevy.
same issue, i used a 1/2" diameter dowel rod, and propped open also, similar application, but didn't need to drill any holes, and take lower dash apart, took long flat blade screwdriver and pushed open lower floor blend door, and installed dowel rod, and same. seems to work ok. hope conts. they sure didn't make that easy to fix those blend doors. 8-9+ hour job taking dash out, and lots of $$$$$
2012 ram 1500 same thing has happened to me I looked everywhere was so bummed out because I just bought this truck did this and it worked thank god anyone need help comment I’ll help you thru it
instead of using a 2x4 to prop-up the fallen door, why didn't you use a special formed heavy wire with a loop on the end to catch your added screw and nut. The wire-way would be 90% less obstruction. ( I keep heavy wire ring tomato bush supports used to prop-up the tomato plants in the garden around just for special needs as this.) Neat fix for a very expensive 'stealerShip' repair.
Hell, there's other videos on YT about fixing it that only require a $30-$60 new door and not much more time. You'd have it working properly then. It doesn't require taking the plenum out either.
Mine will not go off of feet it blows from every where else to and will switch to defrost...but will not blow from front vents only does feet atsame time so it makes those vents not blow air very hard...any suggestions
I just tried it and had the same problem that somebody else did. Now it’s stuck on the floor and I got no defrost. This is a real problem. Any thoughts on how to reverse it? I have to have defrost in my climate.
So essentially this will make it so that all three modes defrost upper vents and floor vents will all work at the same time now? So I wouldn't have to change my settings on the dash anymore?
It doesn't matter what make the whole industry has been doing this low bid work and charging premium prices. They rarely build their own cars here in the United States anymore they just assemble them here...parts come from all over the world. The more complex they can make the more they like it...our representatives are trying to make our older cars illegal because we can work on them ourselves.
Low grade POS parts is what's causing the broken doors. Dodge outta be ashamed of building these and Not willing to fix the issue. Should have been a major recall or a class action lawsuit..
I just tried this and opened the door too far and now it’s stuck. I now have heat to the floor, but no defrost. The exact opposite problem I started with. Oh well, guess I can deal with that.

How do they build such an essential item for heating & air so poorly.
So Dumb whoever from Dodge allowed this type of engineering of the HVAC system.
Same problem.. worked like a champ !

moncorp1 can you send me the link to the video
@@robbieturnbull6671 You can't replace the door without taking the dash out. So no there isn't a video for it.

Problems like this are going to keep me from buying another Dodge. At 10 years old everything is falling apart
I agree. Its so annoying with my 2006 Dodge. Everything falling apart.
I'll take plastic parts breaking over walking any day.

How did affect your air conditioning?
Great McGyvering
Thanks for posting, helped me out big time !!

My problem is the air will not come out of the drivers side
So i tried this and it stayed blended defrost and feet then just went full feet. Barely any defrost. What happened?
Same
Same. Now I’m screwed as I need defrost.
That is a $3500 - $4000.00 repair
They seen you coming
You made my day!! Thank you
