not just about knocking my confidence but my acne isn't just a first world problem. my cystic acne is so bad on my lower jaw & all over my neck that washing my face hurts because of how sensitive my acne is. topical treatments are too strong & sometimes taking acne pills aren't safe. acne does so much more physically than some people actually know.

You make me feel so much better about my acne scares! At 22 I feel like I should be over all this already. I recently found that tea tree oil helps with cystic acne breakouts! It doesn't completely make the cyst go away over night but it reduces it and helps with the inflammation. It's great to hear that mirco needling helps the texture of your skin because I have been searching for anything to help mine. Your skin looks great! Thank you for sharing your journey and what has helped you!

I got microneedling done and it literally feels like your getting your face tattooed without the ink lol. I can only imagine how Fraxel feels. For some people it's totally worth it, but unfortunately for me it did absolutely nothing for my past acne scarring. I also have done chemical peels which do improve my skin texture, but also do nothing for my scarring. Mine isn't bad, though, so it's hard for me to see a significant change. But Nikki's skin looks amazing !

I don't think I would ever get these treatments, but I'm proud of you for doing what makes you feel good/better, and for being honest and open about it! It's awesome when people own their decisions -- you want to do this, and so you are doing it, and you're not going to apologize for it. I have tons of respect for that. Also you look beautiful in this video, Nikki :)

Im 40 years of age. i would recommend people try it once. Great tutorial and you have a beautiful voice.

I had no idea this even existed! I've had really bad acne for about 4 years, it started when I was 11 (yikes) but now it's calmed A LOT and it's mostly just scarring now and uneven texture that I absolutely HATE. I didn't know this helped with texture and scarring, so i'm 100% going to look into doing this when I'm older, thank you so much! I'm sure my skin will thank you too :)

Thanks for this! I'm looking into treatments after dealing with severe cystic acne (much worse than the pictures you showed) and now I suffer from horrible discoloration and a bunch of little pick scars cluttered right in my cheeks. My dermatologist offered a free fraxel treatment 12 months post accutane (this december) bc my acne was so bad! lol it was very nice of her. looking forward to it.

I thoroughly enjoyed your review of micro-needling, your makeup and lighting is very flattering :-) I totally agree with your comments on the pain of fractional (Fraxel) laser compared to micro-needling. Having received and given treatments of both, I find micro-needling to be much better for comfort and faster post procedure recovery. I use the Dermapen at my Clinic because it suits everybody regardless of skin tone. Darker skins are at risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation because of the heat the laser. The Dermapen doesn't use heat but simply "pokes" the cells allowing them to die a natural death instigating a natural healing process which lays down new collagen. The medical grade pen I use can be dialled up from 0.5mm to a depth of 2.5mm which is deep enough to treat acne scarring.

I use Dr. Brandt No More Pores primer and found that if I have a pimple or starting one, I put it on it and will reduce redness, size, and slowly make it heal. I have switch to this primer and found a drastic change overall. Also a good cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and once a week mask or micro-wash works great too. Great video Nikki!

It's so great to hear about these new treatments. My uncontrollable acne is long gone, but I do still have scars. They were horrible at first, but thanks to some cream that contained hydroquinone (which I'm not even sure you can get anymore) and some bio oil, they are greatly reduced. At the moment I am dealing with the worst eczema I've ever had, but someday when that's clear I may try some of these treatments. They sound like the logical next step for someone who has already tried every kind of topical treatment they can find. It's weird how acne scars still look so much like active acne, only your skin has holes instead of bumps.

    Nikki,
I also have acne scarring and at one point it was a huge insecurity for a long time. That being said, after I started watching your videos about two years ago and seeing that you also had acne scarring and not flawless skin made me feel like not every beauty guru is perfect, and that having acne scarring is okay. and that was one of the things I loved about you.
Nikki you've been an inspiration for a couple years now and whatever you decide to do is your decision, I am not one to judge. I'm just letting you know how I feel. Now I feel like I should start getting treatment for acne scarring, but I don't want to feel that way. I wish that people could just be happy with their skin, body, and appearance, but after watching videos such as this one, I just feel like it's sending girls the wrong message. you were absolutely beautiful before as you are now. I still love you Nikki and love all your videos, I just wanted to share how I felt.

How long does the micro-needling results last?
I've already gotten laser treatments & they didn't help; worsened things a lot actually...So, I've been looking for something to help with the scars, but I'm afraid to do anything else to my face. The micro-needling looks less invasive, so I appreciate you sharing your experience.
Your skin really does look great :)

    • @NikkiPhillippi
      @NikkiPhillippi  9 років тому +1

Microneedling results are permanent to my understanding (if they break up the scars that is) & they actually keep getting better for a few months afterwards still because the collagen has been stimulated! Also thank you so much!:)

  • @clarainesh6574

Cystic acne is the worse! I had it for 4 years and just now it stopped. It crazy because I have used expensive brands, drug stores products, and prescriptions. I have lots of scarring now and working on them but not so worried since I'm glad I have no more bumpy, cystic acne. I do the same too! Because of my past acne problems I have lots of cream dots on my face at night or use a mask. your skin looks flawless😝💕

Hello! I was wondering if you think the micro treatments you're having now would help with enlarged pores around my nose and cheeks? I also have a really weird texture under my eyes... I've tried some oils and treatments but nothing seems to help and makeup won't stay on under my eyes no matter what I do. Do you have any concealer or eye cream recommendations? By the way I absolutely love the darker hair on you!! I'm glad you feel more confident And comfortable!

Niki I am a medical esthetician myself and you should look into using microneedling with PRP (platlet rich plasma) this procedure will give you optimal results rather than just using the derma needle pen. This procedure you are using your own blood ( that has been spun in a centrifuge )in order to regenerate new growth of healthy tissue and collagen. Post treatment you can expect to have instantaneous glowing skin.

It looks like most of the ice pick acne scars you had improved, if not completely disappeared from this treatment. I'm not sure if you still have any stubborn ones but I was looking into scar excision for a few picks I have on my cheek. It's pretty invasive looking but if you ever decide to do it for a stubborn scar if you have one I'd love to see the results!

So how often did you get fraxel treatments vs microneedling? 300 is a lot less than 1000 but only if you get the treatments the same length of time apart. And how much faster was the down time for microneedling? You said you'd be down 2 weeks for fraxel but quoted up to two weeks for microneedling as well.

thank you so much for making this video!
i have slight acne scaring in certain ares on my face, & i had gone into sephora to ask a sales associate what moisturizers she would recommended to help lessen the redness, or possibly get rid of the acne scaring. She showed me two, one being Kate Sommerville & the other being this really foreign name starting w an H i don't remember. But i bought the one w the H bc i tried both on the back of my hand & my friend & the sales associate both agreed that the H one felt softer (where as i personally thought the kate sommerville one felt softer). Unfortunately when i got home, I had lost my sephora bag.
So perhaps it was a good thing, I don't know but im reconsidering actually going back to get the Kate Sommerville one instead bc of this video. So thank you! 💕

I feel that it's been helping my pick scars by a hundred times on my forehead and cheeks, and mentioning that it's anti-aging makes sense why the slight line in my forehead is gone. :) Now if only I could clear my chin, it's always been my battle ground with acne.

This video was extremely helpful :) I'm 23 right now and I've been dealing with acne since I was around 12. After over 10 years my skin may not have much scarring but it has become super sensitive and I'm still trying to find the right products and routine. It really is a struggle to feel confident with my skin, specially on bad days but I'm much better at it now, we can't let these things control our lives!

Athziri Lomeli the scrub? that only helps the top layer, doesn't control or prevent full on acne :(

The only thing that has really helped was the pill but now that I've stopped it is coming back :(

Filipa Orchid my doctor won't put me on the pill till I'm in a relationship :(

That really sucks because there are a bunch of pills that are more meant to "control" your hormones than to be a contraceptive...

Hey Nikki! I don't know if you will see this but I thought I would share my experience with the blood vessel laser treatment you mentioned. I had a vessel that broke on the bridge of my nose and went in twice to get it fixed. While the spot did go away the entire bridge of my nose where the spot was is now permanently red ( looks like a sunburn) and it isn't painful but there is discoloration. I do cover it with makeup and it works just fine but I wanted to let you know so maybe you can find or ask about ways to prevent that from happening because it is quite bothersome.

Is it very painful these treatments? I have acne and scarring myself & I've been curious to do something like this

Hey Nikki! So, I have soo many acne scars. And I do break out every so often. But not nearly as bad as I used to. I went to a dermatologist last year and they said they can't do scar removal treatments on me until I am completely clear of acne. It really broke my heart cause I feel like I will never have ZERO acne. Ya know? Anyway, do you know if they really can't do anything for me until I'm completely acne free? Or if I should try a different doctor? Just curious to know your opinion.

Hi I just had my second Fraxel laser for acne scarring . You said you had three lasers? Do you know what settings were used for yours? I am going to do micro needling after my lasers as well.

I'm thinking about doing this treatment. I'm 16 and have had acne since I was about 9/10. It wasn't bad but once I turned 14 I started to get multiple cystic acne and my skin just kept getting worse. I was very insecure and would always have makeup on and it was hard because most people in my grade have minimal acne. I went to a dermatologist and they kept giving me a bunch of creams but nothing helped. Then they told me about accurate and its the best choice I have made for my skin. It Keller out so much and made me feel way more confident.
