Good morning, Kerl; Thanks for looking in and the comments. That steam whistle music makes it all worthwhile to me. When they have it cooking to make Cheyenne, it is still a majestic machine at any speed. Have a great Thursday. Please take care and stay safe!
Very nice Mike. Glad you could make this and share it. I have been lucky enough to see her in person a couple of times now. Thanks for making the trek.
Thanks again, Lou. I appreciate it. This was my fourth catch of 4014. Three times at Ault and once in my hometown of Fairbury, Ne where it overnighted several years ago.
Well that was a heck of a great catch Mike! That finished my day perfectly! She is a beautiful sight to see! Have a great evening and night Sir! I definitely will too! Looking forward to seeing number 5 come through in the morning! Mark in Iowa!
Good afternoon, Mark; Thank you for dropping by and the comments. I only wish the sun had been at a different angle to the camera. Oh well. I am sure I will see this engine again. Have a great evening. Please take care and stay safe!
Yeah Mike thanks for getting this. My neighbor down the alley from me loves this big giant engine. He goes out of his way to see it. And he'll take metra out to Wheaton or somewhere to go view it. He'll make sure that he has his camera equipment and everything to get it. He is one dedicated rail fan.
Good evening, Robert; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. I can't blame him. I drove 1 & 1/2 hours to the town of Ault just to get these few seconds of video. It was the 3dr time I've done this. I also drove 7.5 hours to Fairbury to see it park there for an overnight stay. I stayed with relatives and then watched it go down the mail line to Kansas City followed by the 7.5- hour drive back to Ft. Morgan. Go figure. The biggest part of that run was the 107 F degree heat I drove home in. Have a great evening back there. Plese take care and stay safe!
Good day, Lance; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. I know it is the largest operating here in the USA. I think there is a Garratt type operating in Republic of South Africa. The "Big Boy" is majestic though. Pease take care and stay safe!
Good morning and thank you for dropping by along with the comments. I have stayed away from the Greeley depot because of exactly that. I have several videos of 3985 towing the Denver Post - Cheyenne Frontier Days train with the stop in Greeley to board the Stampede committee. After the 3rd time of shooting VHS video there and having all of those "wonderful" friends around I decided to move elsewhere and found the spot at Ault to be more than accessible. Now it has become nearly intolerable with people for these events. Weld County Sherriff's Office and UP Railroad Police were very active at Ault yesterday. I hope that you were able to get a clear view of the engine and the consist. Hope that you have a great Thursday. Please take care and stay safe!
Good morning, Chris; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. There is a lot to like about #4014. This was the third time I caught 4014 from the site in Ault, Colorado. Have a great Thursday. Pllease take care and stay safe!
Luv it - Sheer Power & Great Whistle Work, On The Move - Thanks for the special coverage Mr. Mike. I had the opportunity to see Big Boy #4004 with my late dad in Cheyenne many many years ago. It is indeed amazing 🚂 👍
Good evening, Papa Geoff; Thank you for stopping by and the comments. Although I am bushed by the driving it was a fun outing to do again. As I have told others, I am impressed by 4014. I would like to see 844 get back on the high rails and polish some again. hat is another very impressive machine. Have a great evening down there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good evening, Mike. That is such a cool train. I saw a live video of it going through Kearney, NE on its way to Council Bluffs. About 6 years ago, the big boy passed through Benson, AZ. Unfortunately, I couldn't get there to see it in person, and I only lived 30 minutes away from Benson.
Good evening, Gary; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. I planned of watching 4014head east into Nebraska on the Heartland tour but had other issues on the day it was going past Kembel and Bushnell. They both have bridges that present the engine quite well. The Virtual Railfan cameras at Kearney are on my must watch list as are Laramie and several others. This place that I took the video today the same place I caught 844 on its last pull of the Cheyenne Frontier Days train from Denver. Later that night a railfan in Brighton was run over by 844 because she just had to have that perfect photo. This video leaves some to be desired, but I will not endanger myself or others for that ideal video. There will be other times and places. Anyway, have a great evening. Please take care and stay safe!
When I was about 7 years old I lived near the tracks in Laramie. There was an old viaduct that went over the tracks. These giants were what they used to pull freight between Cheyenne and Laramie. I used to stand on the viaduct and more than once got cinders in my eyes!
Good morning, Barbara; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. I watch via Virtual Railfan cameras located at the depot there on a daily basis. I am going to make a road tip up there just to walk out on the viaduct and get the feel of the trains working their way thru Laramie. Your memories of the "Big Boys" working there are wonderful even with the cinders in the eyes. Have a great Thursday. Please take care and stay safe!

Afternoon Mike. Thank you so much.I wanted come see you for this event, unfortunately an ongoing struggle with sciatica has curtailed my travels😢 but life such as it is. MRI tomorrow. Thanks for traveling to Ault ( I think that's where you are ) to film this. Safe travels back to FMG
Good afternoon, David; Thank you for tuning in and the comments. Yep. That was in Ault (A Unique Little Town). Sorry to read about the sciatica issues. Not fun at all. Hope the MRI will provide some answers beyond Arthritis. I did make it to Greeley and got part of my shopping done. Then I looked at the traffic on the 34 bypass and decided to get the heck out of town. I can go back for the rest of the goodies at a later date. Hope the pain isn't too bad. Please take care and stay safe!
🙏 you and all contributing video and photo participants. I did Greeley to Cheyenne run on the road with all of you and could watch them ALL every day for the rest of my life😊 👍 .Hope I don't though!😅. I still have work to do, art to create and more U.P. Heritage Div sights to see. 🙌
Good morning, Sue; Thank you for stopping by as well as the comments. I appreciate it. Thar was a nice run you made from Greeley north to Cheyenne. WE are fortunate to have the U.P. Steam Team as close to us as it is. Good luck with your work. Please take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon, Aaron; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. Look up Michael DeMarco on UA-cam and take a look at the video he captured in Brighton. What a crowd of idiots. How hard is it to stay safe and not trespass on the right of way? I don't understand. Such short memories that don't remember the final run of the Frontier Day train from Cheyenne back to Denver when a railfan just had to get that perfect picture and was struck by 844 and was killed. I just don't get it. Sorry. I'll get off my soap box. Beyond the idiots, Mike did catch nice video of the 4014. Anyway, have a great evening up there. Please take care and stay safe!

Good evening, William; I thank you for tuning in and the comments. That engine is a giant.
