A special thank you to Yamaha Artists, Rashawn Ross and Jeff Coffin, for promoting music education around the world.
Take a look at Bill Adam's Warm-Up Routine : • Bill Adams warm up
"William Alexander "Bill" Adam was an American trumpeter, respected pedagogue, and Professor Emeritus at Indiana University. He was highly analytical as a teacher, but always avoided discussing the mechanical aspects of trumpet playing with a student. Instead he "taught" by demonstration and by explanation in terms of sound. In his own words, "If your mind leaves the sound of the horn, obstacles will appear." - Wikipedia
Proud to see my childhood friend Rahshawn doing his thing. Virgin Islands Massive
Glad to see him play the trumpet on stage with Dave Matthews Band to add phenomenal sound to the music!
That music in the background sounds beautiful ❤
yeah, that's Charles Lloy'ds Forest Flower, with a young Keith Jarrett. Quite a different kind of space than the rushed, overly condensed and commercial masterclass environment that we find here.
Great interview! I saw him play with Dave Matthews Band this year live and was blown away! I have seen videos of him playing with them, but seeing them all live was spiritual in a way. The vibe was brilliant. He fits in so well. I love that he also sings in the band. 😊🎺🎶🎤
Nice tips. I so much respect for his playing and the way he comports himself. Time for me to get back to the Adams routine!
thx for sharing this video! There's not too much vids with Rashawn .. :(
He was playing a Yamaha Xeno.
Thought he played a Monette, why is he playing a Xeno here?
Digital Music Mentors I play a Yamaha Xeno also

Good tips👌
Man, he sounds great. What would a pro recommend for warm up if someone is only been playing for a year, doesn't have finger the finger speed, or efficiency like that?
Start slow, go for accuracy and minimal effort, speed will come naturally.
"Play the whole horn (or range) with one embouchure!"
Rashawn reminds me of the bulldogs on the old Looney Tunes cartoons. Amazing artist.
is that mark on his lip permanent or just because he's been playing just now?
Paul Davies I don't think his was permanent, but I've seen plenty of players that have permanent 'trumpet lip.'
