    Casual fans are going to look at Texas‘ schedule and think that they’re gonna run the table easily minus maybe the Oklahoma game, but I’ve been watching Texas football as long as I can remember and it’s never been that way. Those big 12 teams hate Texas and it’s really gonna be a struggle this year as they leave the conference. It’s not even this destruction of Alabama on the road that gives me the most confidence heading into the big 12 schedule, it’s the fact that Sark understands that we are about to face some HATE, and he’s telling the team to embrace that hate and fight back.

      I think texas tech will beat Texas..
      Texas plays Wyoming this week
      Wyoming beat texas tech If The longhorns show up taking Wyoming lightly we could see an upset.. Texas tech is a good team they are 0-2 but they played two quality opponents and barley lost those games… Texas tech was beating oregon pretty bad all the way until the fourth quarter…Wyoming vs texas could be a better game than people think..

    Texas fan here. Really enjoyed watching your breakdown of everything. Great analysis! I really think Milroe is a great player. He made a couple incorrect reads but the dude can throw down field and he’s clearly athletic. I think his gameplay sharpens considerably with another game or two under his belt. His ability to extend plays with his feet makes him a sure threat to opposing defenses and I hope Saban continues to give him the nod.

      In my opinion he’s going to be fine, I think the sacks got to him and those two picks. He pulled the trigger too quick and undoubtedly have been discussed in film this week. I don’t think we see him make those type decisions much more unless Bama lines up against another really solid defensive front. Credit to the Texas DL. They brought tremendous pressure all night and the OL struggled at times.

    By far the best analysis of this game I've seen..
    I think Bama was surprised by how little they were able to get in the run game (resulting in so many 3rd and long), how poor the pass protection was, and how ineffective their four man rush was on defense.
    You show how the receivers were often open, but the lack of protection made it difficult to get the ball to them regularly. I mean, how many times was Mac Jones pressured the entire 2020 season? Probably less than Milroe was in this one game. And all the bad snaps!
    Yes, Milroe did well for the most part when he had time, but the two interceptions were not under pressure, and that just can't happen.

    • @js290
      @js290 Рік тому +1

      not saying the pass protection was great (24:23 clearly got beat), but "the best OL/protection is a decisive QB..." -Marcellus Wiley ua-cam.com/video/bV4NOR8PYnA/v-deo.html
      Milroe not yet seeing the field well even after simplifying to a 2-man route (30:45)

    • @phillipivey4833
      @phillipivey4833 Рік тому +1

      The Bama run game was fine. The problem that occurred as the game went on is Texas stopped respecting the pass on First and Second down and focused on stopping the run with help.

    I think if Alabama would look at the offense that Texas ran in 2005 with Vince Young they could be very successful with Milroe. He looks very similar in how he runs and looked really good on the same throws Vince was good at throwing. That being deep balls and the 10-15 yard routes in the middle of the field. Milroe looks like he felt very confident on those throws and having him in shotgun eliminates having to read defenses while dropping back.
    Then have Milroe run the same zone read out of shotgun which is what Texas lived on in 2005 and Milroe is obviously capable of running that same play really well. Just my thoughts after watching the film and replays several times.
    Hook’em Horns!!!

    Matt, thanks for “sanitizing” this game and breaking it ALL the way down. Bama fans need to check up. This was a TEAM loss (coaches and players) to a better prepared and experienced team. After the game fans and pundits have skewered the QB. Ready the kill before the season and wanted any and every excuse to kill him.

    We've had staff problems recently. I mean, when your assistant coaches leave to take jobs every two or three years, It's tough to keep cohesion. It's something we've been working through for a while. And Saban has been really good, for the most part, at replacing those coaches. But eventually, it catches up. This staff isn't elite. You can see it on the field. It's been that way defensively since Pruitt left. He was hard to replace. But we've been carried by the offense. But that ain't happenin this year. We're good enough to still win the west just on talent, but that's if we're not turning the ball over, not protecting a young defense. If Milroe continues to have the "woops, didn't see that guy", Saban will have to make a change. But the long term solution isn't on campus IMO. I laugh because there are a lot of Alabama fans that don't know what 8-4 looks like, but it's a possibility.

      @detectif1061 he's not the runner Milroe is...referring to Rees being the Notre Dame OC last season. At Bama he can go empty and gain another blocker and use Jalen basically as a RB. I figured that was a big reason Saban hired him. His run achemes.
