I think it’s crazy when you guys go thrifting and don’t even try something on and they fit perfectly. I can’t even find jeans that fit when I try them on lol. I miss thrifting so much. It was something my mom and I used to do all the time. I also LOVE the Zena jeans that have the embroidery or coloring. Literally love

Just wanted to say that although buying from Levi’s isn’t as sustainable as thrifting obviously. Levi’s has done a lot of things to make themselves a sustainable brand and even on their website they tell everyone to buy secondhand, reuse and recycle their product, and much more. In terms of buying new jeans, a place like Levi’s is a really great option and for the price they are also very good cause of how long they last. They cut down their water use and a bunch of other things to make their jeans.

Just to let you know Alexa, when I resize my jeans, I take them in from the sides, that way you don't lose the back belt loop, and it's much more comfortable when you take a little from each side. Just taper it down like you would if you were sewing in a dart. Then cut off the extra fabric, and zig-zag sew the loose edges of the denim so it does not fray....It works perfectly for me!
That's what I do too! In case anyone is checkin out my butt, I don't want the back seam to look altered or funky lmao

When a jean fits perfectly on my tights and butt, but big on my waist, one thing I do is, I sew a thick elastic on the back and it cinch the waist. There are many youtube tutorials that show this.

Also, as someone who has tested the neck waist trick, I feel I should point out that this technically works in that it tells you whether the waist will fit or not BUT not exactly...
What I mean by this is that if you're neck testing a pair of mom jeans, the rise (the height of the waist on you, which is measured from the crotch to the waist of the pants, so low-rise, high rise...) will likely be 10-11-12'' high, which means that the waist you're measuring on the pants falls on the smaller waist (the area where the so called ideal hourglass figure is smallest = >

I've been thrifting for about a year and a half and up until early March I had never been able to thrift jeans. However, I couldn't believe my luck when I eventually found a pair of Levi's and some Zara mom jeans both within a week of each other!
When I was super fit I was really into low rise, that changed quickly as I put on weight lol

Your denim collection is everything ❤ and I so appreciate your thrifting and styling tips even though my options are a little more limited due to where I am in the world and my curvier bodytype. But it's youtube channels like yours that have inspired me to love denim more, through showing your own style evolutions, the different denim options available and how to style them etc.
I've always had such bad experiences with denim growing up. My hips developed first like 3 years before I ever got my first period even (sorry if tmi lol) and this meant I had to wear women's sizes before anyone else at like 10 years old, so my mum would always have to hem them cos they'd be too long lmao.
I basically used to associate jeans with horrible fitting room experiences and feeling like my fat ass was so out of the norm I just shouldn't wear jeans at all. I think from age 16 to age 22 I just gave up and literally never wore jeans. I wore mainly skirts, dresses and flowy shorts or at most culottes lol. Now I have at least a couple pairs of jeans that I love and even though they are fast fashion, I've had them for about 3 years now and they're in great shape and I plan to continue to look after them so I can wear them for another 5/10 years.
I don't know if I have ever come across high waisted Jeans in the charity shops we get here as of yet, but dammit I will never stop looking lmao. Here's hoping this crisis subsides so I can continue my search! Also I ordered an embroidery kit recently so I'm hoping sometime in the future I'll be good enough at it that I can revamp a couple of denim pieces too...

I love this video!!! I totally understand your love of Jean's. I have a very LARGE denim jeans collection 😬 Some are 30+ yrs old.....all in excellent condition. It's hard to say my very very favorite....although my Calvin Klein button fly & Levi's 501 button fly....are probably my two favorites....they are from 1997.
My last thrift in February I bought a pair of Vintage with new tags...never worn high waisted Rockies Jean's with pleats in the front for $3. I don't know what they were thinking letting them go for that. And a Tory Burch pair of Jean's in a bunch of crazy colors $3.
Now you have me wanting to get out all my Jean's and try them on. No joke...I probably have 60+ pair of jeans 😬 I would not be surprised if there is 100 pair. I'm going to count today!!

If you look for a place that carries super high waisted in lots of lengths, American Eagle is great, they're highest rise is 12 inches which is amazing, and they have a ton of sizes too!

I use to buy all my jeans from pac sun or urban (when I had enough money) because I thought they were the best brand to go to for jeans, but I realized that I never really wore the jeans I bought because I didn't like how they fit me. One day I realized that the only pair of jeans I wore daily were a pair I thrifted from goodwill. Now all my jeans are thrifted from depop and goodwill lol.

I have tried for so long trying to find the perfect pair of mom jeans but ya girl is only 5’1, has a small waist in proportion to their hips and has HUGE thighs. So the only pair of mom jeans that i own were professionally altered 😅 But i have not given up on trying to find the perfect vintage pair! after this quarantine of course :)

i know this is an old video, but when it comes to that everlane article, the employees they laid off were temp workers. they knew they were temp workers. i was a temp multiple times before and temps are well aware/told that the company that the staffing agency has placed them at isn't guaranteed, consistent work. hence why they are temps, temporary, and not full time regular employees. unless they signed something that specifically stated they would work up to a certain date, everlane did nothing wrong in laying them off. yeah it wasn't the best to post "we're in this together" shortly after, but it's not illegal or unethical in terms of employment. if anything, the problem with everlane is that they greenwash the shit out of their company/marketing. because of that, i still wouldn't support them. but the article is making it out like "look at their shitty employment practices/hollow sentiments" when it's not. everlane took care of their actual employees like the ones who work in their retail locations according to the article. these workers were technically the agency's staff, not everlane's, so everlane had no obligations to them past paying them their wages for the hours they worked. temps don't even get benefits from the place the staffing agency posts them to so i don't get the big deal here. once again, i was a temp, i know how temp agencies/temp employment works. i would get calls day of saying not to come in. that's just how temp work works.
