I appreciate your video. It is nice to hear how others do their Bible study/Bible reading. No, I am not going to copy your way or at least not in its entirety. What I look for are ideas or tips that fits my learning and reading style. I think the idea of reading a minimum number of pages is a great idea that I need to implement. Also consistency over intensity is probably going to get you further.
What works for me is to read the Bible from beginning to end sequentially. Each time I start over I switch to a different translation. I do that because if I were to read the same translation time after time, my brain would fall asleep. I read fast, and yes my brain sleeps through some passages, but that is ok. I will read it again and maybe then I will catch it. As I have read through the Bible a few times, it gets easier and difficult to follow readings also gets easier. One more thing I do is to is to pick a topic to follow through the entire Bible, paying special attention when I run across passages dealing with this topic.
I am not sharing how I do it for others to copy, but should there be an idea that would work, use it. Knowing your own learning style is so important.

Consistency rather than intensity. Thanks Jason. Very practical and encouraging.

Yes the consistency over intensity is important. I’ve heard this basic idea from someone: that reading the Bible is like eating, you’re not always gonna have an amazing fantastic out of this world meal, but you still eat everyday bc you need to be sustained. Same with reading Scripture, it feeds you and you are sustained over time through reading each day, even though you might not have an out of this world experience with reading.

I like to read along with the audio on youversion too. I like to use both. I'm trying to get your plan, but haven't been able to. I like the guy from NLT version.

Not to toot my horn, but I get up at 4:30 am weekdays (and 6am weekends) fire up my Logos bible software. Then I head to the kitchen & make 4 cups of coffee, hit the bathroom, get dressed and grab my coffee and pray, and then start reading.
Sometimes I start reading and then stop and thank God for showing me something new, or He gives me an Ah Ha moment. I've been using "Connect the Testaments: A 365-Day Devotional with Bible Reading Plan". You start out by reading the devotional. Then you start in the Old Testament; go to the New Testament; and Psalms. Today for example, July 21: Truth and Honesty Can Be Painful, 2 Samuel 7:1-8:18; 1 Peter 4:12-19; Psalm 137:1-9.
I agree with Jason, “Consistency is greater than intensity”. Why, because I am a creature of habit. The more I read, the easier it is for me to remember and understand. Each time I read I pick up something new that I didn’t see before. I haven’t tried using the audio bible in quite a while, but think it’s a good idea. I will consult a commentary or two if I’m confused or want the opinion from a scholar. I may look up anything I am not familiar with to gain better understanding & make sure I’m not off track. Nice job Jason, thanks for the encouragement bro!

I work full time and I have 3 little ones. I always said I don’t have time but in the times we’re in I’ve dedicated everyday to reading the word. I bring my bible to work and instead of looking at my phone, I read my Bible ☺️ it has seriously strengthened my walk with the Lord. I’ve read everyday since May 6th

Loved the video Jason! Thanks for the encouragement! When I first came to Christ I was reading like 30 chapters a day.😅. So yeah I get it! I'm staying consistent on the 20 minute thing a day. If I need more, I usually go to the gospel of John or something new testament. Praise God for the Bible and thank you for what you do!

I have stayed with one reading plan, one bible and my audio version of the bible since January, thanks to your recommendations last year. I am following the Horner reading plan and track the days I read instead of what chapters are covered, though I do note the date in my bible when I finish reading each book. Thank you for sharing your tips and words of wisdom for consistent reading.

Jason Mayfield Have you checked out the Dwell app? It’s amazing! You can create a custom queue of chapters, put your queue on repeat etc.
