  • For too long, both patients and providers perceived opioids as having few risks. Changing hearts and minds, locally, has been a tall order. In this video, two opioid safety coalition members share strategies that worked to inform people in their local areas. First, Ivan Petrzelka, who worked for many years as a pharmacist in Shasta County, discusses how he approached both patients and providers. Then, Pam Conelly of SafeRx Santa Cruz, talks about identifying values, locally. This breakout sessions was part of the CHCF-sponsored Opioid Safety Convening in Oakland.
