- Olympic gold medalist and reality television star Caitlyn Jenner, who is running for governor of California, released a campaign ad on Tuesday branding herself as a “thoughtful disruptor.”
“The American Dream grew up here. Yet, career politicians and their policies have destroyed that dream. It’s been locked away, closed, shuttered, left in the dark, burned down,” Jenner said.

It was a good move for sure. Beautifully done and touched on the right "emotional" points when it comes to getting an instant reaction from those who live here, ie the insane homeless situationand incessant fires we been through.. However as a Californian, I can be honest and say I don't believe in anyone's good words (actually more like images here, not so many words about them tho) in beautiful ads anymore. They never hold their end of the bargain once they got our vote anyway. At the very least it hasn't been so in a long long time. I pray I can be proven wrong, at least just this once.
EdIt: and as another commenter said...it was more hollywood-good than politically good. Who knows. I have a feeling she will win tho, because we seem to be so desperate for change that we latch on to anything that doesn't make the mold and seems to scream "im one of YOU, im not one of them, vote for me and I'll BE THERE FOR YOU". Oldest trick in the book yet somehow works all the time. And of course, she will be getting all the Gen x and Gen z votes just BECAUSE she is caitlyn. The"Image of change". Very moving! Make California Golden again! I am so saddened by so many iconic and wonderful places in our country being destroyed over the past couple decades. Places I never realized I was proud of until they were ruined-places I’ve never even been to, like Chicago, New York City, Denver, Seattle, and even when New Orleans was ruined by the flood. May all these other States GET ON BOARD with people like Jenner & DeSantis, to CARE about their localities enough to SERVE in government, & FIGHT against this decline of our wonderful, wonderful country!

Our system doesn't allow for the rise of a third party for the most part. First past the post winner take all elections don't give any standing to anyone in a smaller party. The large parties have 0 incentive to work with them because they have no power, and that's by design.

Why would you automatically vote for her? She has yet to mention any policy positions or plans if she becomes governor. This video reeks of platitudes and cliches. Plus, she killed someone and got away with it, as well as being an elite herself. She does not represent you, or me. She simply keeping the status quo, much like Gavin Newsom is.

I'm not sure why we think that we can return to the times of old those are long gone. The problem is we keep trying to do the same thing and expect a different outcome. California like the rest of the US has to evolve if we want to become better. I think in California that entails better public transit systems that help to reduce highway traffic, cleaner air with the building of new alternative energy sources (which also help us become more independent), fair pay for all workers regardless of job title, rent caps and affordable housing, expanding up vs out, continuing to find alternatives to homeless people sleeping on the streets in downtown areas and continuing to protect the citizens from both big government and big corporations. While people famously like to blame career politicians they also need to hold big business and CEOS responsible for their shady undertakings.
I have family that lives in Northern California. I love the state. I’m scared to go there and so much of the beautiful areas. I’ve always wanted to live there. But until they clean up that mess I’ll never go back

It is really easy to see that the cost of living and the tech boom has pretty much gone hand in hand in California, it the same thing is now happening in Austin. Hopefully California politicians can push out more progressive policies that will make it better to live in this state.

It's interesting that...She likens herself to Reagan, Ronald Reagan exacerbated the homeless problem in the great state of Calfornia in the late 1960's and 1970's signing the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act, which ended the practice of admitting patients into psychiatric institutions against their will, furthermore Gov. Jerry Brown reducing the prison population after a federal three-judge panel ordered the state in 2009 to cut the inmate population by 46,000 people. Neither move came with social safety nets, such as job training and mental health treatment, to ensure these people would land on their feet. WE in California have a problem with DUMBASSNESS and the last thing we need is another Hollywood/Famous type getting into politics. Governor Newsom has one of the hardest jobs in America, Coronavirus has exposed fault lines. We need common sense and progressive policies to deal with a modern California. No GO BACKWARDS to an American that never really existed in the first place.

As a Californian I really liked this vision. I liked everything she said she wants to do, but I'm wary. We already had a celebrity governor, and he was more concerned with being popular with the elites than the well being of the state.
Catilyn is different, she is real, she had to work for he status, she had to overcome so much. And she did, she will be a Governor like no one has seen before. A fiscal conservative and socially liberal is exactly why the Great state of California needs.

I had my doubts on her, but this is one of the best opening campaign ads I have ever seen. If she can tighten up and stay focused on her message and delivery out on the trail and with the media, no one should count her out. This will be a great campaign to watch!
