I've been there when a mate became a woman. As hard as it was to make the mental change for me, seeing the freedom and positive change in them made me realise I had never been talking to the real them until now. From quiet and hidden, to truly open and alive. This made me laugh waaaaay more than I expected. The writer is superb and those two together are fun.
I love how Brendan mentions Caitlyn's dead name. It allows her the ability to make it clear that "his" accomplishments are her accomplishments. Even though some things have changed, she is the same person and thus deserving of the same level of recognition and respect.
