Hi Sophie. I'm a very proud owner of a 23 year old yellow-sided conure 'Smarty' 😊. I love your channel and look forward to all of your videos. Thanks for all the advice. Linda in Scotland 🏴
I used to drop a NurtiBerry in one of those hanging millet baskets for my elderly cockatiel. I could move the basket to different places and he would hunt it down. I bet I could have stuffed crinkle paper in there too.
Mine got too good at the tray so I put more toys in it and reduced the number of seeds. More recently I made him a diy cupcake ball that you did a tutorial for a while back, but I added a section of an egg carton to the top of it. I put treats in the bottom and stuffed it with crinkle paper. ; closed it with the top section and secured 3/4 of the perimeter. It’s more challenging because it hangs like a disco ball and he has to hang upside down to try and the paper and treats out.
My birds like foraging baskets and bael pod cups. I taught them how to lift lids on top of the pod cups too, and they have a lot of fun with it! They also like to forage on the bottom of their cage. I don’t even have to add anything to the bottom of the cage since they shred their toys enough that they have to forage under toy shreds and avoid poops and feathers. And they drop seeds on the floor all the time so that they can eat it later when they forage.
If you don’t want to use a plastic tray, there are plenty of other options! You could make and origami paper box, or use a cardboard tray or cardboard drink holder. Many different options for foraging fun!
Thank you for this video!! I'm going to try this with my Sun Conure. Do you have a video about what plants are safe, I thought it would be nice to add a live plant like Bamboo.
I’m not sure if this is great but it works I take a sheet of paper and a rubber band and cover their seed bowl They automatically start ripping the paper to get to the seeds

I turned the top tray of his bedroom cage to a big ole foraging playground. It's fun to watch him up there.
That sounds awesome 🥰
Excellent video! Your birds are super cute! My birds forage the same way and have so much fun!
Thank you so much 🥰
Thank you, I'm going to try this! I'd personally love more videos/enrichment ideas like this one. 😍

Bamboo is safe! I use this safe and toxic list: freerangeparrots.org/2020/10/16/ultimate-list-of-safe-and-toxic-plants-to-birds/
One que, can i give them sweet corns or not, if yes how much is safe and healthy for them 🤔
Yes you can but not daily - variety and diversity is key 😊
@@BirdNerdSophie okay, thanks ☺️
I’m not sure if this is great but it works
I take a sheet of paper and a rubber band and cover their seed bowl
They automatically start ripping the paper to get to the seeds
That’s awesome b be careful with the rubber band though - you could use paper string instead!
