Got 4 of these bad boys in my 62 impala ported box with sound digital evox2 3000.1 pushing them if you don’t know about sound digital look in to those amp . Real pusher amp
Just ran across your channel. My WRX offered Kicker and just replaced all my OE speakers with Subaru Kicker OE. I got kids and their sports sh*t to haul so the Kicker 8’s are all I’ve been thinking about because I can do dual 8’s under my parcel shelf and still have SPACE…because #adulting.
Still rocking my pre Q class L7 8" in a "portable" custom box now used for home audio. 2" port 1+cf box and cutoff somewhere around 200 hz. Given my civil rights have been curbed was a treat hearing them today do 90+ db balanced where mids and highs run off my Sherwood S7300 after a couple of years. Alpine amp running off of LifemnPO deep cycle and gets stereo bass when ran in series as to make amp happy (900PDX). I will try to post clip soon. I think the manufacturer recommendations for ports are too large opening. Birch is overrated. Denim fill and your compliance volume will make em sound bigger and not everyone needs to purchase 12s 15s etc unless you are driving to some sound off.
When you hear cone colliding with metal and as long as audio signal just before was not distorting then maybe look at higher RMS ratings or see if mfr has 18s and use 8s for "mids"
Man I got 2 10 inch in my truck! Love the L7 Drivers paired with my JL Audio RD Amplifiers, but I’m a have to get a custom box for them for sure to hear them pound in a ported box one day.
We have the official "unofficial wink" from Kicker employees that the Solo X 8" is being worked on. Most likely coming 2024. The square Q Class is discontinued, but round is still in stock. They are not dropping the Q Class, they are making a replacement for them. 😉
I respect kicker as a lasting brand for the average person. But that’s where kickers stop, they aren’t winning any competition nor do you ever see them in any competition regardless of spl or sq. Dollar for dollar kicker just doesn’t stand a chance to the vast majority of brands. I love kicker and have all my life but I’m a realistic person and there’s just no way kicker is relevant other than Best Buy and Walmart.
You have bought into the hype of other speaker and amp manufacturers that you need huge magnets and tons of cheap dirty power. When MBE gets done with these solo basics you will be a Kicker believer friend.
The competition scene died way down back in the day so Kicker got out of competing and promoting them. They have starting rising in popularity the last 5 years or so. Kicker has decided to get back into the competition scene. Thats when they started designing the Solo X that is just now starting to roll out. Kicker is forming teams to compete in SPL right now. The 12" is released, the 10" and 15" will be released later this year. There is a confirmed 18" coming. There will be an 8" version (unofficially confirmed by employees). There is a new Kicker Warhorse line of amps being produced. The first mono amp 3,600W will be out later this year. Bigger versions to follow. Warhorse 4 channels as well. So the battle plans are drawn. Kicker will be launching a competition attack over the next year or two. They will most likely dominate the competition scene just like they did in the past. I think you will be changing your opinion of Kicker pretty soon. 👍
@@gaddy8964 Are you saying you have a 2500BDCP amp and want to know which is "better" using four DD 2508's or four Kicker L7S 8's? That is not a simple question. Better can mean a lot of different things. MB has said the 2508 is one of the best 8's in output and sound quality, but it's pricey at about $450 each. The L7S is much cheaper, but are in a lower performance category. If you are not going to max out the power, want good sound quality and a cheaper price then the L7S might be the better choice for you. If you do want to max out the power to get very high spl as well as sound good and can afford it, the 2508 is the better choice for you. I have no experience with either subwoofer so I can only go by how MB describes them. Both have good sound quality, but the more expensive can play a bit louder. I think over the next week he will directly compare the two subs. That might make your decision easier.

When I first got into car audio back in the early 90s people hated on Kicker. They was like get some Pioneer, Cerwin Vega, Phoenix Gold or JL.
Been running kicker subs since they were Stillwater designs “kicker” in the 80s.
