    I had a customer once who came in complaining of excessive smoke, said she topped the oil up the week before.... She thought she had to fill it up to the top of the filler cap 😂

    Paul, the EGR valve itself is on the back of the engine under the DPF, the part that you are cleaning in the green bucket is just EGR pipe work from the cylinder head to the inlet,
    I suspect an overfuelling injector has diluted the oil

      @andrewcordery6157 is exactly right! It also has the cooler built into it! I would advise replacing it for a genuine one from TPS while the dpf is off the car....van 😅

    Whilst you got access to the turbo outlet there you can fill it up with Mr Muscle oven cleaner.That,ll clean that out.Well documented on forums of diesel owners.Make sure that is 100% oil you drained as its possible that could be diesel dilution from an injector(s).Has been known on these.

    I cleaned my DPF by just shoving a jet-wash down it.

    Hi Paul , yeah had a customer once who over filled the oil , she said someone told her she ‘ had to top it up ‘ so she did . With out checking the dip stick , just kept topping it up …….

    Maybe high oil level down to the engine trying to regenerate the blocked dpf? The fiat 1.4 multijets were notorious for doing this. The diesel runs down the bores and dilutes the engine oil.

    Replace both the sensors on the exhaust. It will be trying to regen the system and flooding with diesel. This happens to a few diesel engines.

  • @daveyblakeney
    @daveyblakeney 7 місяців тому

    The excess fluid in the sump is a mix of oil and diesel. When the car tries to do a regeneration on the DPF it uses extra diesel to generate higher temps in the combustion chamber to burn off excess carbon in the DPF. If its unable to do that, either due to a fault or the owner just keep running it on short journeys and doesnt allow the regen mode to initiate (Higher engine speed on a longer run etc) then that excess diesel ends up in the sump, increasing its content, again and again, over time your sump level just increases the engine oil is diluted by the diesel. Not a good set of circumstances. Change the oil and filter, clean the DPF, and once reassembled and running, change the oil and filter again after 100 miles to get the excess diesel out of the lubrication system get it on a dual carriageway and run it at a higher engine speed (use 4th gear) for at least 10-15 miles once it good and warmed up to kick the regen into action and get it to do a clean on the DPF itself. Ive had this time and again on cars Ive worked on, and it works Paul. Good Luck !

    Shame that you are working on the issue. If left uncorrected you may have ended up with a runaway engine at full revs that you cannot stop. These are spectacular and make for great videos before they self destruct in a cloud of smoke ! Ah well true UA-cam stardom will have to wait 🙂.

    Its not always the external seals on the oil cooler that cause the cross contamination. It can fail internally, mixing the oil and coolant inside.

    When everyone in the audience is shouting “it’s a leaky injector”.

    • @johnnorth9355
      @johnnorth9355 7 місяців тому

      The injector (s) are no doubt the cause but the consequences are likely to be widespread. I would suspect the cranshaft end seal will have leaked and contaminated the clutch as well. Replacement injectors are not cheap but along with a complete clutch and flywheel this could be ruinous ?

    I had an issue with a Toyota Yaris 1.4 diesel that used to gain oil, when it tried to regen the dpf, it overfuels to flush the dpf, like a wash, my dpf kept blocking due to a faulty airflow sensor. Toyota fixed it but the issue came back after 6 months.

    Paul please please wear a mask when your anywhere near that dpf cleaner another youtuber used the exactly same product and ended up in hospital with breathing problems it had affected his Lungs . There is no mention of wearing a mask on the instructions on the bottle but it states on there website safety sheet to wear a mask

    You might find this van has ran on in the past based on how high the oil level is. Might be why it got put through the auctions.

      1. They are very expensive to buy and fix, 2. very dangerous to work on, 3. you need specialist software to work on them as they are so locked down by the manufactors.
