Hello Tom, and thanks for the inspiration to go out and shoot forests. This is a project I am working on (photographing beauty in the mundane), and I live where there are lots of pine forests. They don't make for great subjects to most landscape photographers, but my goal is to find beauty in places where others would not go. This video inspires me because you gave me ideas for techniques to try, shoot from the dark towards the light, etc. I am shooting 50mm on B&W film and a digital camera with a fixed 28mm lens, so we will see what I can get. I joined as a member because I have watched your videos for quite some time and enjoy your work and sharing your processes. Have a great day!
Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I'm in vacation and checking the phone from time to time. The technique of photographing from darkness to light ia something I picked up from painters. It's a very easy way to direct the attention of the viewer. All the best with your project
Nice video, it's give me a lot of ideas
Thanks
Very useful thanks Tom👍
Very useful video, great explanation of light and dark, focus and blur...I will be tring this next time its sunny in my local woods
Nice one Toma. I will go out one day only with the 50mm in the forest. Keep uploading quality content. Congrats
Great tips as always Toma, I learned a lot from your videos and I appreciate all the hard work that you are doing in these tutorials 👍
Thanks Tom, I always get bummed out when the sun starts coming out after a nice rainy morning and usually pack up and go home. I am going to try to use the information you provided so I don’t just pack up and go but stick around and see if I can find some other intricate compositions next time.
Great video, as I often struggle to find good compositions in these kinds of conditions. I'd love to see some before/after comparisons of some of the edits, especially of the shots you took of the walking path. You describe some of the processing you did, but seeing the comparisons would really help folks like me that always feel like we're CLOSE but are trying to get to the next level!
Excellent work, as always!
What think you about a lens 300 m in the wood/forest?
it's pretty nice :)
Nice man ty
Very helpful as my forests are sunny for six months of the year. I noticed you have an L Bracket on your EOS R that permits the mirror to open up. Do you have a link to L Bracket or did you modify one to allow the mirror to open?
There are some made by SmallRig, that have a cutout similarly to the one Toma is using... The one for the R doesn't have such a opening, but maybe he is using one for another model, that also fits the R?
can you share some photos of this shoot, please?
The photos are in the video. Maybe in the future I'll put a frame around them to make them easier to spot
First ❤️
