Dragon Ball is very popular here in Brazil, it aired here in mid-1990s and remains popular to this day. Very sad he passed away. My deepest condolences 😥
Dragon Ball Z has been a inspiration to myself and many others growing up. Teaching us lessons from believing in ourselves, embracing our strengths/weaknesses, and to never give up!! Goodbye, Mr. Toriyama... RIP🙏
Yeah... this hurts. He helped inspire my own journey in art and storytelling. His iconic artstyle and the time Dragon Ball Z released worldwide... resonated with me (and I know so many others).
Thanks for making this video. I'm 36, and grew up in USA first getting to know Dragon Ball in 1998 on Toonami like many other kids. Little did I do know the magic that Toriyama had already built up to that point in his career. The older I got, the more I learned like everyone else, and I've just been a fan of his imaginative, and majestic creativity ever since. Dragon Ball is still my favorite manga/anime after all this time. It's thanks to Toriyama that my interest in Japanese culture ballooned, and I've even learning Japanese today. That's all thanks to Toriyama. It's been a remarkable odyssey, and I find it amazing that this one man was able to bridge the culture divide for so many people. Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Sandland...we are all eternally grateful. And the response from the planet to his passing speaks volumes to his legacy. Toriyama forever :)
I love Watch Dragon Ball Since i was 5 years old even Come Home From School Watch Dragon Ball Z Kai Marathon is Inspired me to be my Best Version myself to Keep move Forward and Never Give Up It was Greatest Action Pack of All Time in History He legacy lived in our Hearts ❤❤❤🐉❤
Man... This man impacted my life so much with the Dragon Ball franchise. I started watching Dragon Ball Z in the summer of 1996. On one Saturday morning after watching TMNT and other cartoons. My Brother and I came across watching Vegeta vs Zarbon during the Frieza saga. We were so amazed at the fight, we had to watch more. I've fallen in love with Dragon Ball Z since then. I would go to the library after school to watch Dragon Ball, DBZ, even GT. He's the reason why I wanted to become an artist, people ask me what I wanted to do and I said I wanted to be the next Akira Toriyama, no joke. I watched Dragon Ball in so many languages before English. That how much of a fan I am. So many moments that man has given us. I got nothing but love and respect for him. It's a sad time for this man to be gone. My condolences to his family and friends. This man's legacy will go on. Again, thank you Akira Toriyama, God bless.
I’m sad to hear this news of the passing of the Dragonball creator Akira Toriyama. I’ve really do give a massive respect towards Author of Manga & Light Novels because of their great storytelling and awesome characters that they create. And when I hear sad news like this, I’m sad to know that these amazing Author have passed away. R. I. P. Akira Toriyama 🙏🙏🙏
It's actually so crazy the way Dragon Ball connected so many people. The, race, gender, class, hell even the generation didn't matter we were all just fans of this man Toriyama's work. Rest in peace.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 another childhood legend....Gone. Like Kevin Conroy the voice of Batman, James McCaffrey voice actor of max payne and now Akira Toriyama has left us. 😢
Cant belive this is first time Ive seen your face. One of the most famous speeches for me that came from Dragon Ball Z was the one Goku gave Vegeta before the fused during the Super Buu fight. I remeber being younger hadly ever seeing anything in the market for Dragon ball when we grew up couldnt get the playstation video game of dragonball. Seeing the frieza before hand changed everything for me. Trust our stories are similar as well...being picked on for not being the stereotype...you felt like you were an outsiders.
The world of Dragonball will never be the same again. Rest in peace Akira Toriyama sama and my deepest condolences to family and friends. Thank you for all the beautiful childhood memories. You have become eternal because your work is now going to be seen by one generation after the other. You knew Goku and friends better than anyone else out there, and the same goes for your favorite character, Piccolo. Your spirit will live on through the Dragonballs and the wonderful characters that you yourself created. I always like to say "Dragon King Piccolo" to Piccolo's new orange form, but this time it's Dragon King Akira sama. May the power of the dragon be with you, always.
The way the franchise just unified people across all walks of life is truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing your stories and thoughts. Arigato, Toriyama-sensei.
dragonball was how i found your channel. i think i looked up dragonball af because of all the rumors i heard in the 90's about it and your absalon video came up. rest in peace to him.
Akira toriyama was a guy that influenced me to become an artist, ever since I read the dragon ball mangas at my local library and watching dragon ball and dragon ball z on tv since then I remember asking my parents to get me something dragon ball like merch and the only thing they give to me was a how to draw dragon ball z characters I remembered I tried to draw goku and vegeta and some other characters and it took a while but I managed, I gonna miss Akira toriyama R.I.P Akira toriyama
I remember very vividly my mom coming over to my house around 930am when Michael Jackson passed away. I remember making her coffee because she was crying, not really hysterically, but pretty heavily. After looking it up and making sure it wasn't a hoax, we spent the day watching You tube videos of Jackson's music and reminiscing. I remember the next day talking with my brother about it and saying " Man who gets that upset over a celebrity. What does it matter. She didn't know the guy". Fast forward to 11pm last night. Its 11am now. I've been up crying in shock tell my Wife how this man help raised me into the man i am today. Life is funny.......
Also, loved the Ocean/Blue Water Dub. Didn't even realise it was a mostly Canadian production at the time, then Funimation got the rights and had to continue the dubbing just when Goku reached Namek. Was jarring (back in the day) but got used to Schemmel, Sabat and the rest. Still (kinda) missed Ocean dub as the main dub.
Thank you for allowing a young man to take his mind into your Universe. My son's who are now grown also are still huge fans. Dragon Ball franchise has given us a common bond, in a time when bonding with your children becomes more difficult. But thank you again for that slice of Heaven in my life. R.I.P.
I'm playing Dragon Ball FighterZ for the first time in almost 3 years after hearing the news. I'm rusty after not having practiced in the game so long but thankfully it's not a complicated fighting game to learn.
I wouldn't be a fan of anime or manga without Akira Toriyama. My first anime figure in my collection is Goku. DBZ on Toonami opened me up to a whole new world of storytelling. This loss is profound. Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama
First started watching DBZ back in like 2000-2001 and it’s been my favorite show since. Made friends through it and even got through many hard times because of it. This will definitely be one of those rare moments that we’ll never forget. He died the year of the Dragon. R.i.p. King 🙏🏽
I just found out yesterday by my brother that he passed away he was one of the key people Who made anime fans in the US and the world 😔🥺 Rest In Peace Akira toriyama 🙏🐉🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🐉
Thank you for sharing your memories. I am around your age and can relate to many of the stories you told even though I wasn’t a huge DBZ fan. So amazing that Toriyama’s work touched people in these lasting ways. I am thankful for his work on Chrono Trigger, one of the best games of all time ❤
Bruh is that spider-man blinking? I think that nigga just winked at me! Salute Toriyama! 💯DBZ brought so many of us together. The crazy thing about looking at these reaction videos....we literally all had the same experiences w/ just slight variables. White, black, european, asian....he literally created something that tapped into the core of that male energy/fantasy that starts from a little boy. The work hard and train to get better, the hands/fighting, the family man, the savior. It still sells until this day, it still brings in kids to this day. We all were running home to watch new episodes, we were all drawing in our school books, we were all looking up dragonball info on the internet, we were all shooting pretend fireballs at each other, we were all trying to get the bootleg tapes or games...crazy. He literally changed the world.
That is a great back story for your foundness of Dragon Ball thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work! I am casual fan of Dragon Ball and enjoy the media. My family was poor while I was growing up and we didn't have cable tv and only had one TV channel. The one channel we had started airing Drangon Ball Z on Saturday mornings and I was immediately hooked. Though out the years I have been in and out of the Dragon Ball sphere but always come back as casual observer especially lately because my son is starting to take interest in Dragon Ball.
That's a nice story, definitely reflects moments in my life too. Akira Toriyama brought people together and his legacy will live on forever. It's just sad that his time on earth was so short compared to how much time of joy he brought to us.
I grew up on Dragon ball Z however while the Super manga is already well passed the Tournament of Power arc we never got More Dragon Ball Super episodes yet the Tournament of Power arc ended its run in 2018 in Japan (about a year or 2 later for its English dub)
Truly sorry you dealt with that upbringing, braj. Nobody deserves that. But very well stated, truly a beautiful sentiment. Grew up in Memphis, an being one of like 20 something white kids at my school, I was fortunate to have never been bullied, being part of the “in crowd”; an made damn sure it never happened on my watch. I was the same way artistically, DBZ an Gundam Wing was my full on “nerd card”. Vaguely remember keeping that part of myself hidden; but getting home on the daily, rolling a b***t, an watching the Cell Saga. 🤷🏻♂️😂😂😂 P.S. Rhea Ripley’s Vegeta tatt is so fkn sexy! 🤷🏻♂️😂😂😂
Aint no Dragon Balls that can fix this loss. Though given that after Z Toriyama was done with the series (who could blame him after devoting that much time to it?) and had no desire to come back despite the absurd amount of money a true revival would bring, I think we should all be very grateful that when he did bring it back, it was clearly a work of passion. Dragonball Evolution pissed him off enough to not only revive his series but to love working on in it in ways he never had the freedom to do during the original manga days. Speaking of which, I've finally got tje kick in the ass I need to actually read through the manga. Only read a few chapters of Z and the Super Manga from the Zamasu arc onward. Tore myself away from FF7 Rebirth to read through the first couple chapters of DB in light of the news. Gotta say, Toriyama's highly kinetic visual style and signature brand of low brow humor is on display from the very start (Goku's first thought on hearing the words Dragon Balls is that some poor dragon is now missing a pair) and even this early something about his style conveys motion better than actual animation in the same scenes, I'm surprised to see he had that down from the start. His style may have changed over the years but the way he conveys motion and impact feels as solid mid way from the start as it does mid way through Z RIP Akira Toriyama, the man who took anime and manga on a literal Journey to the West

Ahhhhh, my brother had that clock. I didn't know that melody was from the show. It was so wacky when it went off, and it would always make me laugh Dragon Ball Z speaks to young men of all cultures on a very primal level, Toriyama tapped into something deep when he created it

Dragon ball z introduced black culture to anime. Like he said, anime wasn’t accepted in urban areas until toonami put us onto dbz, inuyasha, cowboy bebop etc. DBZ set the standard rip toriyama

I'm sure we've all got our criticisms of Super but something no one can deny is that Akira Toriyama actually wanted to be writing this series again. He made Broly his own and respected the love for the OG character enough to allow the LSSJ throwback purely for fan service.
Toriyama spent the last years of his life genuinely loving Dragonball and we should be grateful we got so much quality from his hand out of pure passion in an era of cynical cash grab reboots.
I don't blame you for being burnt out over Dragon Ball Super, but I think they should continue that anime.
Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO is something I'm *really* looking forward to.
Anyway, I don't think anyone expected for Toriyama to pass away. It definitely seemed very sudden.
That's funny how your mom somehow picked up that Dragon Ball clock, and then your uncle brought over those imports. Talk about coincidence or fate?
That's cool how you were able to bond over your drawings of Dragon Ball Z.
