It's amazing how this guy actually open his mind and tell everybody what really he does and what we could do...normally all others youtubers just turn around very important points and they do not say HOW and WHAT they do pratically
There's a lot of valuable information for authors in this video. I was pleased to hear ideas about getting reviews without just giving books away. I also like Derek's approach when asking readers in a social way to help him with his goal.
Great info all in one good video. It will be interesting to see how your pricing experiment turns out. I would expect that by the time you try it, your higher prices will attract more of your ideal readers, because you have so many good reviews, and people typically do equate price with quality (fortunately and unfortunately).
Lots of fantastic info - especially appreciate the wording suggestions to create stronger asks - an appealing way to frame them so that they appeal to a reader / build community.
Thanks for the video. I'm relaunching a series I just got back from my publisher (that didn't sell well) and this was very helpful. Step 1: Get new covers.
Hi Dereck, I have found your videos to be really informative. It has helped me to develop a more business-like approach to publishing. I am almost set to self-publish my first full-length novel. I wonder if you could help me by outlining what you would recommend I focus on for a fantasy / folklore novel. I'd appreciate any insight you could provide! Keep doing the great videos!
H Derek, I like the ideas promotional and otherwise, and I am one who values the importance of giveaways to your mailing list. A question though please, say I have a month's free book giveaway to my mailing list, and i have requested a review, since I am an indie publisher on Amazon, how can I get those reviews onto Amazon if that person hasn't purchased the book from Amazon? Thanks a lot, Michael
I went on a freebie kindle book spree not that long ago, bc I wanted to check out a bunch of authors I was unfamiliar with. They were different genres. I can see that being an advantage to putting your book up for free.
Thank you very much for all the effort you put in for this UA-cam channel... If amazon removes a review for any reason do they let you know or just remove it?
Very informative video, as always! When you send out ARCs, is the book already out on Amazon for them to review, or do you have to send them an email on launch day reminding them to go review your book?
What do you think to avoid Select first months, just put 0.99 and distribute the book for free, so the People could actually review it straight on because they find it immediatly. The risk to distribute 2 week before the publication is that people sometimes forget to do it because it is not yet online...I am talking about very short books that could be read in three days
You should still be able to offer it on instafreebie, or bookfunnel, build a list of targeted readers, and offer them a digital ARC copy (you can use the PDF you used for the print book).
Let's just cut to the chase. "Content! Content! Content!" If someone reads your book and likes it, they're going to just naturally want to tell someone. It's human nature. People like to share good things with friends. When Amazon prompts the buyer for a review, and they really enjoyed your narrative, guess what? They'll take a couple minutes and do review. Conversely, if your writing sucks, the buyer will regret spending their hard-earned money on your book. No review for you!

You have the best information I've found on independent publishing. Thanks!

Ok...from now on I'm going to try perma free because I super need reviews. I had NEVER thought about doing it that way. Thank you.
I'd never heard of perma free. I'll try it when I release my 1st book soon. Hope you get some reviews.

What's the series? I'd like to check it out.
Great honest tips.. Thanks!!
As usual, this is great content. Thanks, Derek for keeping me pointed in all the right directions. Julie Griffin
Hi Dr Murphy. I want to thank you for your website that allowed me to create the free 3D mockup covers for my new book.
Everytime I watch your videos, I start shuffling for a pen. Fantastic information, thank you!
You are a winner and on to the next one👍
Thanks for all these great ideas, Derek :)
Great info. Glad you're having success.
I got more marketing information that I have from watching hundreds of hours of the more popular book marketing experts. Thanks
Such great information. Thanks Derek.

As an indie author with a full time job, marketing a book is a lot of work. My mailing list is only 10 people, so need to grow!!
I went on a freebie kindle book spree not that long ago, bc I wanted to check out a bunch of authors I was unfamiliar with. They were different genres. I can see that being an advantage to putting your book up for free.
Yes but you can only sell your book for free, if enrolled in KDP select!! And I tried being on Kindle Unlimited for a year and got nothing
Excellent ideas. Thank you!
Thanks for your sharing. I will use many of your suggestions.,

This is good shit. I'm glad it was recommended to me.
Thanks for the great stuff you share Derek, please can you tell me what webcam or video recorder and mic are you using here it is good quality thanks
Very helpful. Thank you .
"ask" is really all i've got.

AmazonKDP sucks ass since Createspace and KDP merged. It's nearly frikkin impossible for me to update my books now.
Most helpful for a lost soul
This is helpful. I have been wondering about free vs paid books.
wow, thank you so much
Do you have any suggestions if your book can only be available in print, and you can't do kindle?
You should still be able to offer it on instafreebie, or bookfunnel, build a list of targeted readers, and offer them a digital ARC copy (you can use the PDF you used for the print book).
Thanks for this! Would those work well for colouring books too (which is what I'm doing)?
Derek...do you have a donation option via paypal where we can maybe send you few dollars to offer you a couple beers wherever you are in the world?
Let's just cut to the chase.

Team Golfwell does free book reviews > www.teamgolfwell.com/free-book-reviews.html
Instafreebie and bookfunnel.
Dude, you spend too much time making your hair look like you don't spend any time on it at all.
